2 Operating Instructions for Context Electric Dual Height-Adjustable Core Unit Determine Correct Position for VDT operation. Monitor surface should be positioned with the top of the computer monitor in direct line with top of your head. Monitor screen should be at arms length. Keyboard should keep wrists straight, elbows at 90 angles and shoulders relaxed. Monitor Surface Adjustment Electric Locate attached two button switch under right side of worksurface. Press left button to raise monitor surface, right button to lower monitor surface. Monitor Surface Adjustable range is : 26" to 39" from floor. Keyboard Surface Adjustment Pull lever under left side of keyboard to adjust surface up or down. Release when keyboard is in desired position. Important Installation Check List: Please Read Carefully. Your adjustable-height worksurface should be free of obstructions. One inch of clearance on all sides is required for any moving surface. Glides on bottom of unit should be adjusted level and firm to prevent wobbling. Check clearance above and below worksurface. Make sure shelving and bins do not interfere with monitor when surface is at maximum height. Computer cabling and power cord length must accommodate surface height of 39". Cords too short may damage monitor during worksurface adjustment. Monitor Adjustment Adjust monitor surface with two button control switch. Top button raises to 39" Bottom button lowers to 26"* Releveling: * Lower to 26" or until downward motion stops. Press both the left and right buttons at the same time for 5 seconds. Repeat until fully level. Keyboard Surface Adjustment Pull lever under left side of keyboard to adjust surface up and down. Release lever to lock keyboard surface in desired position. 8 2 4 Cylinder Adjustment 1. Loosen cylinder nuts. 2. Remove retainer ring and pin. 3. If the cable does not fully unlock the cylinder, allowing the keyboard to move freely, turn the cylinder in 1/2 turn. 9 Care and Maintenance Instructions for Context Surface Materials Caring for Worksurfaces and Other Hard Surfaces Laminate Tops, Painted and Plated Metals and Plastics: - Wiping with a damp cloth will remove general soiling and water-bourne stains. If needed, use hard surface, all purpose cleaner such as Formula 409, Fantastic, etc. Some oil-borne stains will require the use of a dry-cleaning fluid or naphtha. Torus Vinyl Edge - Clean the vinyl edge with a damp, soft cloth using a soap based cleaner. ( 409 Spray cleaner or a concentrated industrial cleaner is recommended.) Excessively soiled edging may require some rubbing to clean satisfactorily. (NOTE: To prevent staining, ink should be removed as soon as possible. DO NOT use paint thinners or solvent based products to clean vinyl edging.) Recommendations for Wood Tops: - Use desk pads and coasters to help protect against dents, moisture and heat. - Use felt of leather pads on the bottoms of office equipment and accessories. - Lift objects when moving them instead of pulling or pushing them across the surface. - Periodically move desk accessories on the worksurface to assure even aging. - Avoid leaving vinyl binders on worksurface for long periods. - If a protective glass top is used, insert felt pads between the glass and the worksurface. - Keep wood furniture away from direct sunlight. - Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity. Maintain temperatures between 60 and 80 F and humidity between 30 and 50%. * See Steelcase Context Specification Guide (CS /96 or Later) for additional information on care and maintenance of Context Office Furniture.
