Cut the two bands around the shipping carton. 2. r emove the top haf of the carton and cut one side of the bottom haf. 3. remove the equipment from the carton. 4. Check to see if a features of the equipment work propery. if a the features work, advance to step 5. if any of the features of the equipment do not work propery, ca GF Heath Products, Inc. for service at: Cean the equipment using mid detergent to remove any dirt accumuated during shipment, and pace the equipment into service. 2-1

10 Operating instructions BraKing and Steering OperatiOn warning - persona injury HaZarD: patient entry, egress and transfer from the ViC chair shoud aways be from the center side rai ocation with the side rai in the down position and brakes ocked. t he brakes shoud aways be appied when patient is not being transported. Figure a ppying the Brakes the four whee centra braking system is activated by depressing the red peda at the foot end of the unit on the patients eft side (Figure 3-1). to fuy engage the brakes, the peda shoud be pressed to approximatey 45. a four caster shoud be ocked from swiveing and rotating r eeasing the Brakes Depress the green peda at the head end of the unit on the patients eft, unti the peda is in a horizonta position (Figure 3-2). a four whees shoud rotate and swive freey. Figure 3-2 Figure appying the Steering ock From the head end of the ViC chair, depress the green peda downward into ocked position (Figure 3-3). push the ViC chair forward one caster at the foot end wi ock into a non-swive mode. this aows straight steering by the attendant, when pushing from the head end reeasing the Steering ock Depress the red peda at either of the right 3-3 side corners of the unit, unti the peda is in a horizonta position (Figure 3-2). a four whees shoud rotate and swive freey.

Figure recining the Chair Back Squeeze the green recine ever on the right side of the back section (Figure 3-6). push back on the back section unti it is at desired position, (Figure 3-7) position can vary from upright to 10 trendeendurg positions. note that chair has a degree indicator ocated on the ower back section on the right side of the chair. to pace back into upright position, squeeze the recine hande and ift up on the back section. 3-4

Figure i ndependent Operation Hod and support eg section by the bottom of the frame tube (Figure 3-8). pu out on the end of the red ever (Figure 3-8). rotate the ever cockwise whie positioning the eg section (Figure 3-9). Once desired position of the eg section is reached, reease the ever and the eg section wi be ridged (Figure 3-10). when the eg section is independent, it can be repositioned at any time by turning the ever cockwise (Figure 3-9). Figure 3-9 note: aways support the eg section when turning the red ever r eturning to Chair Mode Support the eg section, turn the ever countercockwise whie pushing in on the ever (Figure 3-11). the ever wi side inward to an inactive position. Figure repositioning the Footrest the footrest has three positions; retracted, ower and the upper positions. with the pan in the retracted position pu out, on the handes on either side of pan (Figure 3-13). the footrest wi drop into the ower position (Figure 3-14). to pace the footrest into the upper position, grasp the handes on both sides of the pan. tit the pan up whie ifting (Figure 3-15). Once the pan is up a the way, tit the pan out unti it ocks into position (Figure 3-16). to return the footrest into the retracted position, tit the pan up whie etting it side down, if needed, (Figure 3-15), into the ower position (Figure 3-13), continue titing the footrest unti it is in the retracted position. Disinfectants, a products: A fabrics may be ceaned with a 1:10 diution of househod beaches containing 5.25% sodium hypochorite as recommended by the Centers for Disease Contro in Atanta, Georgia. There is no harmfu effect on the fabric. Disinfectants appied at fu concentration or in highy concentrated soutions wi decrease the usefu ife of fabric. Iodophor type disinfectants used on fabrics may resut in staining. Sois or Stains: Use neutra soap suds and ukewarm water. Do not use harsh ceansers, sovents or detergents. Hard-To -Cean Spots: Use standard househod/viny ceansers and a soft briste brush on troubesome spots or stains. Pre-soak heavy, dried-on soi. Laundering Viny-aminated or Rubber-coated fabric is not recommended. Laundering may substantiay decrease the usefu ife of the fabric. Laundering Poyurethane-coated fabric: Machine wash with detergent up to 120 F. Some surface wrinking may occur; this wrinking has no adverse effect on the fabric properties. Hang or tumbe dry thoroughy at 140 F before storage. CAUTION - POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD: Steam ceaning and pressure washing of chair is not recommended and can void warranty. NOTE: For more detaied information, pease contact GF Heath Products, Inc. at NOTE: In addition to the User Preventive Maintenance, a more detaied Preventive Maintenance Program is aso required to keep the equipment in good working order.
