Safety Warnings and Precautions WARNING: When using product, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment. 1. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries. 2. Observe work area conditions. Keep work area well lighted. 3. Store idle equipment. When not in use, the Oil Lift must be stored in a safe and clean location. Always lock up products and keep out of reach of children. 4. Use the right product for the job. There are certain applications for which the Oil Lift was designed. Do not modify the Oil Lift and do not use the Oil Lift for a purpose for which it was not intended. 5. Check for damaged parts. Before using any product, any part that appears damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for any broken or damaged parts and any other conditions that may affect its operation. Replace or repair damaged or worn parts immediately. 6. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. 7. Do not operate product if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the product. 8. If used oil does not evacuate the Reservoir (3) upon pressurization, check to make sure the Ball Valve (32) is fully closed with the Handle in the horizontal position. If this does not correct the problem, remove the unit from service immediately and contact a qualified service technician for repair. SKU For technical questions please call Page 2

3 9. Use eye and hearing protection. Always wear ANSI approved impact safety goggles, full shield and ANSI approved hearing protection when working with this product. 10. Do not exceed the product s working pressure of 7 PSI. 11. Only use on a flat surface capable of supporting the Portable Oil Lift and its maximum load of 25 gallons. 12. Dress safely. Non-skid footwear or safety boots should be used when working with this product. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they can become caught in moving parts. Wear a protective hair covering to prevent long hair from becoming caught in moving parts. 13. Do not allow children in the work area. 14. Always check hardware and assembled parts after assembling. All connections should be tight and hardware tightened. 15. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times to prevent tripping, falling, and injury. 16. Always secure the Wheels and Casters in place while operating the Oil Lift. 17. Know and obey city and state laws for proper disposal of oil. Dispose of oil properly in accordance with all local laws and regulations. 18. The Oil Lift is to be used only for transporting oil. Do not use to transport any other liquid. Specific Product Warnings and Precautions 1. Always disconnect equipment from its air supply source and release all compressed air from the system before performing any service or maintenance. 2. Never leave this product unattended while operating or evacuating oil. 3. Never use this equipment near open flame or heat sources. 4. Always raise Drain Bowl and close Ball Valve before evacuating oil. Never attempt to pressurize the Tank with the Ball Valve open. 5. If the Bleeding Valve ever relieves any air pressure from the Tank, remove the unit from service immediately and contact a qualified service technician. 4 Unpacking When unpacking your 25 Gallon Portable Oil Lift check to make sure that all parts listed on page 6 are included. If any parts are missing or broken, please call HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS at Assembly Your 25 Gallon Portable Oil Lift will require some assembly. It is important that you read the entire manual to become familiar with the product BEFORE you assemble and use the Portable Oil Lift. Before operating the Portable Oil Lift be sure that you have all parts described in the Parts List and Assembly Diagram located on the last pages of this manual. Mounting Wheels and Casters and handle 1. Slide one Wheel (2) onto each end of the axle located at the base of the Oil Lift. Then place a Washer (41) and Bolt (1) to secure the Wheels (2) to the axle. See Assembly diagram. 2. Attach one Caster Wheel (4) to each plate located on the base of the Oil Lift. Slide on Plain Washer (5) and Spring Washer (42), then thread Nut (6) onto caster stem to secure them in place. -see Figure 1. plate Figure 1 Figure 2 Handle (20) Caster Wheel (4) Nut (6) Chamfered Screw (17) 3. Insert Handle (20) into the two slots on the side of the Oil Lift-see Figure 2. Tighten down Chamfered Screw (17). Attaching Basin and Drain Pipe Attach the Oil Collecting Bowl (33) to the Bowl Supporting Tube (37). Thread into place. With the assembly completed, check to make sure all hardware is tighty secured. Also check to make sure the Oil Lift rolls properly. Operation 1. The Oil Lift must be on a flat, secure and level surface capable of supporting the Oil Lift and its contents. Secure and block the Wheels and Casters in place. 2. Open the Ball Valve (32) by turning the valve to a vertical position-see Figure Raise the Oil Collecting Bowl (33) by turning the Hand Wheel (28) and lifting the Oil Collecting Bowl (33) to the desired position. Lock it in place by turning the Hand Wheel (28) clockwise and tightening in place. 4. Drain the oil through the Filter Board (34), Oil Collecting Bowl (33) and into the Reservoir (3). Note: Check the oil level gauge located on the Oil Indicator Tube (9) frequently-see Figure 4. Do not fill the Reservoir (3) above its 25 gallon maximum capacity. 5 Figure 3 Figure 4 Ball Valve (32) in Open position Oil Level Gauge on Oil Indicator Tube (9) To Evacuate the Oil 1. Raise the Oil Collecting Bowl (33) and lock it in place. 2. Close the Ball Valve (32) completely by turning it horizontally. 3. Place the Nozzle (15) securely into a used collection receptacle. 4. Connect the compressor s air supply hose to the Air Inlet Connector (21). Turn on the Air Compressor and set its regulator at 7 PSI. Do not exceed the 7 PSI working pressure. 5. Immediately disconnect the compressor s air supply hose from the Plug (21) when oil is no longer discharging into the oil collection receptacle. WARNING! To prevent serious injury; DO NOT leave the Oil Lift unattended when evacuating oil! 6. Note---the Oil Lift has a Safety Valve (24). The ring can be pulled to release pressure in the Reservoir (3) if necessary. Transporting the Oil Lift Note: Only transport the Oil Lift over a hard and flat surface which is capable of supporting the Oil Lift and a full Reservoir (3). 1. With the Ball Valve (32) in the open (vertical) position, lower the Oil Collecting Bowl (33) by turning the Hand Wheel (28) and lowering the Oil Collecting Bowl (33) as far as it will go. Lock it in place by turning the Hand Wheel (28) clockwise and tightening in place. 2. Always use the Tank Handle (20) when moving the Oil Lift from one location to another. Always grasp the Handle (20) with two hands while moving the load. This will provide security in case one hand slips while moving the load. Cleaning and Maintenance 1. Before each use, examine the general condition of the entire Oil Lift system. Inspect air hoses for damage. Check for loose screws, misalignment, binding of moving parts, improper mounting, broken parts and any other condition that may affect is safe operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, turn off the air compressor immediately and have the problem corrected before further use. Refer to Warnings and Precautions sections. 6 1. Caution:Always disconnect this product from its air supply and release all compressed air from the system before performing any cleaning, servicing or maintenance. 2. Keep the outside of the equipment free of oil or grease. Use only a mild soap and damp cloth when cleaning. Do not use a flammable or combustible solvent. 3. Before and during each use, inspect the Oil Indicator Tube (9). Do not allow the used oil level to surpass the Reservoir s (3) 25 gallon holding capacity.
