2 WARNING Retrofit instaation must ony be performed by a icensed eectrician. To prevent death, injury or damage to property this product must be instaed in accordance to Nationa Eectric Code in the US or Canadian Eectrica Code (CSA22.1) in Canada. Disconnect power before instaing the product or servicing it. Wait unti the amp(s) have cooed down before retrofitting or servicing the fixture. The retrofit kit is to be instaed ony in UL isted signs. Use ony certified UL wires and connectors. US LED modues can be used with the 12/24VDC power suppies isted in this guide. For use in dry and damp areas ony. 3 THE FIELD INSTALLATION OF THIS LED RETROFIT KIT INTO A SIGN IS SUBJECT TO THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISTICTION. CAUTION: TURN OFF POWER TO THE SIGN BEFORE INSPECTING OR REMOVING EXISTING LIGHT SOURCE. THE POWER MUST REMAIN OFF WHILE INSTALLING THE LED RETROFIT KIT. THE UL CLASSIFICATION MARK ON THIS LED RETROFIT KIT REQUIRES THE KIT TO BE INSTALLED IN A UL LISTED SIGN ONLY. Scope: This procedure is for the instaation or retrofit of the TD3 famiy of products and power suppy. Licensed eectricians shoud provide a instaation and hook-up of both the primary and secondary input/outputs of the power suppy. A instaation and hook-up shoud be done in accordance with a Nationa and Loca codes and permits. 4 POWER UNIT INSTALLATION with optiona box 1. Secure power unit (Figure 4) in suitabe ocation. Figure 4: Power unit 2. Remove cover from power unit. Power Unit 3. Connect secondary wiring (12VDC) per oca code according to suppied wiring diagram. Recommended cabe is soid 18AWG NEC Cass 2 cabe. 4. Connect branch wiring per oca code according to suppied wiring diagram. (Note: Minimum primary wire size is 16 AWG 300 Vot) 5. Power unit must be grounded using the green wire ocated in the primary wire cavity of the power unit. 6. Insta power unit cover. 5 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Disabe power. 2. If a retrofit, open channe etter face(s), disconnect source and remove a baasts, neon or other ight source to be retrofitted. A materia must be disposed of in accordance with appicabe aws. 3. Cean interior and exterior of sign. 4. Measure appication; Width, ength, and depth using Recommended Layout Chart to determine the modues required. See Figure 5 for Recommended Layout Chart spacing modues center-center. Be sure to test your first etter to make sure you are satisfied before proceeding. 5. Sea a existing hoes that wi not be used for the new instaation. Cut the wires according to your design and necessary number of modues you need. 7. Pee off modues tape s protective cover to expose adhesive ayer. Pace modues on mounting surface as indicated on marked ocations. Press firmy on modues (Do NOT press on ens) to ensure compete adhesion of tape. 8. Insta mounting screw at one or both ends of modue. It is often necessary to use at east one screw mounting for permanent appications. (Requires #6 Sef Driing Screws) Add siicone for additiona security if desired. Connect separate runs of product within a etter using 18 AWG wire and wire nuts AWG Cass 2 wires shoud be used to connect modues from etter to etter conductor penum rated cabe shoud be used to connect a run of modues to a power suppy. 11. A runs through a wa must either be in a conduit or pass-thru or be made with cass 2 wire. See Figure 6 for ayout. Figure Athough jumps can be made from etter to etter and then from the fina etter to the power suppy, the preferred method is to run each etter to the power suppy. Limit the tota number of modues per run to 1/3 of the tota power suppy oad and connect both sides of the run to power suppy. This wi increase your oad baance and ight uniformity.
