1 Assembly Instructions Retrofitting These instructions are for replacing existing lighting fixtures or systems with our new, higher efficiency TLS, drivers and controls

2 Components To calculate the amount of components needed, calculate the square footage of the surface. Approximately 2.5 LED boards/sf and 5 PCB Holders/SF are needed. The number of anchors and tensioners depend on the size and shape of the TLS required. Each full LED board requires 3 watts. To calculate which power supply is needed, use the following formula and associated table. 3 WARNING - Risk of fire or electric shock. TLS Retrofit installation requires knowledge of sign electrical systems If not qualififed, do not attempt installation. Contact a qualified electrician. - Install only in host signs that have been identified in the installation instructions and where the input rating of the retrofit kit does not exceed the input rating of the sign. - Installation of this TLS Retrofit may involve drilling or punching of holes into the structure of the sign. Check for enclosed wiring and components to avoid damage to wiring and electrical parts. - Installer should examine all parts that are not intended to be replaced by the TLS Retrofit for damge and replace any damaged parts prior to installation. - To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.

4 IMPORTANT - The TLS Retrofit requires an enclosure rated sign face marked where readily visible during servicing with the following: WARNING: This sign is provided with an enclosure rated sign face. Replace only with an enclosure rated sign face. - If the sign face does not have a recognized UL outdoor enclosure rating, please do not attempt installation of the TLS Retrofit and contact your LumiSign representative. -Certified (Listed) signs follow the marking requirements of NEC Section and UL 48. A sign must be marked with the identification of the manufacturer or an identifying trade name or trademark, along with electrical voltage and current ratings. -Signs must also be marked to show any restrictions on where the sign can be properly installed. Indoor only signs are to be marked Dry Locations Only. -Outdoor signs that are evaluated for a damp location are marked Suitable for Damp Locations or, for a wet location, are marked Suitable for Wet Locations. Signs that have a damp or wet location marking are evaluated for compliance with applicable performance testing before they can be marked as suitable for installation in these types of environments. 5 IMPORTANT - continued -All required markings and the UL Certification (Listing) Mark are to be permanently applied and are permitted to be affixed to any exterior surface of the sign, except the sign face, or the interior of the sign where the markings are available for inspection without uninstalling the sign.

Installation shall be not less than 1 inch (25.4mm) apart when arranged end-to-end, and not less than 4 inches (102 mm) apart when arranged otherwise.

Verify the amount of components listed above.

9 Ballast Fluorescent tube C A B REMOVE Step 2 A. TURN OFF ALL POWER TO THE LIGHT BOX (at the breaker or the disconnect switch). Wipe excess dust from inside the light box. B. Remove fluorescent tubes, ballast and ballast secondary wiring, and lampholders. C. Repair and seal any unused openings in the enclosure. Openings greater then 12 mm (.5 in) in diameter require a metal patch secured by screws or rivets and caulked with non-hardening caulking. Smaller openings may be sealed with non-hardening caulking.

10 A B 5/5 4/5 65 mm 3/5 2/5 1/5 C 60 mm Step 3 A. To begin placing the TLS, mark a horizontal line 65mm from the back of the frame. B. Remove one LED board and place it at the base of the frame (where the U Channels will be screwed). Be sure to place the markings as illustrated according to the size of the LED board. C. To measure the distance between the LED columns, use a third board to ensure the last LED of the left column and the first LED of the right column align with the distance of the LEDs of the third LED strip (If needed). Repeat as needed for the top U Channels and for additional columns.

11 A B Step 4 A. Align the set screw of the anchor with the veritcal marking from the LED board. B. Then align the groove that runs horizontally in the U Channel with the horizontal marking. Screw the U channels in place. NOTE: MAKE SURE TO PLACE THE ANCHORS AS POSITIVE, NEGATIVE, POSITIVE, NEGATIVE, ETC.

12 Step 5 Disconnect switch installation: If the circuit is protected upstream by circuit breaker then you would not require a local disconnect. If determined that a disconnect switch is required: - Verify both the disconnect switch is in the OFF/O position. - Mount the disconnect switch to the enclosure. ATTENTION! Ensure that no voltage is present on all power wires per Standards for Electrical Safety Requirements and by your local electrical codes before proceeding. How to wire a disconnect: -The Line side is the cable supplying voltage from your electrical panel. -The Load side is the side that is connected to the power supply. The grounds connect to a lug that is screwed to the disconnect enclosure. If there is not already one pre-installed you will need to install one by screwing it to the enclosure. NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE REGULATIONS IN THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE AND YOUR LOCAL ELECTRICAL CODES REGARDING THE DEVICE YOU ARE WIRING.

13 V- (BLACK) V+ (RED) A C B + - GRND (GREEN / YELLOW) ACL (BROWN) MEAN WELL ACN (BLUE) Step 6 A. Install the driver (power supply) inside the box. B. Enclose the primary wires (line voltage) inside the box. The proper AC input connections to the driver are marked on the driver. There is a Ground, ACN (Neutral), and ACL (Line). C. DC Driver Output: Connect Red Wire to Red Wire of the TLS positive anchor, and Black Wire to Black Wire of the negative anchor. If the frame is of a conductive material, ensure that there is no continuity between Positive and Negative Anchor. Test voltage on each anchor 24V

14 A B C Step 7 Before starting, make sure to properly place the tensioners to the corresponding colored anchors (Black to black, red to red). Always start from the top. A. To start installing the lighting system, place the tensioners on the anchors. B. Swivel the adjusting nut around the anchor s set screw to connect the systems. Ensure the system is tensioned to its maximum. C. Adjust the nut to lock the tensioner in place.

15 Step 8 Before installing the sign face, verify that the material used is UL certified. ( TURN ON the system at the breaker or disconnect switch.
