5 Preparation - Voorbereidingen vooraf Environmental Requirements Wired Internet access Free space for Maxem with connected wiring at the bottom. Free Schuko 230V socket on Phase 1 (L1) for feeding Maxem or free space to place a new one. Free Ethernet port for Internet connected modem or router. An UTP cable must be pulled (or already be available) from Maxem to the charging station. Maxem must be connected to a wired Internet connection. The following is needed: Modem or router connected to Internet. A DHCP connection from the network to Maxem. Maxem should be able to do DNS requests. 6 01 Feeding - Voorbereidingen and fuse protection vooraf 01 - Mounting on the wall Fusing charging station Maxem is a control system that regulates the load of the charging station. Therefore, it can be calculated according to the NEN 1010 with a lower equal time factor*. Maxem makes sure that the charging station is less loaded when there is more charge in the house. The charging station can therefore be fused to a value higher than normal, but not higher than the threshold value of the main power supply terminal. Hang Maxem on a clean, moisture-free wall. Use the supplied mounting plate and screws for this. Take into account sufficient space around the Maxem. Voltage: internal voltmeter in Maxem with the voltage from the 230V power supply. 20mm 20mm For a correct measurement it is necessary to know from which phase Maxem is fed. In Maxem it is standardly installed that the supply is on Phase 1 (L1). Wiring at the bottom 70mm 10 11

Follow the installation instructions of the charging station. Port A: Brown core Place a suitable UTP (CAT5 or CAT6) cable from the charging station to Maxem and clench RJ45 connectors on both sides. Connect the UTP cable to the Ethernet port of the charging station and the ETH port of Maxem. Solar panels Connecting RS485 cable to kwh-meter It is advisable to test the network cable with the help of a cable tester. 9 E. Put DSW 1.3 ON. Smart charging will be activated. Option Connecting ICU charging station Follow the installation instructions of the charging station. These instructions can be found in the installation manual of the charging station. Install a circuit breaker or earth leakage circuit breaker for each charging F. Set the DIP switches of DSW1 on the maximal available power. And leave the rest of the station at the maximal power available. See p. 10. DIP switches on OFF. Place a suitable UTP (CAT5 or CAT6) cable from the charging station to Maxem and clench RJ45 connectors on both sides. Take off the voltage on Keba P20/P30 (the DIP switch settings only become active after a reset of the charging station). It is possible to update the charging station firmware. This can be done via ICU Connect, as soon as the charging station is online. ICU or Cohere can assist you with this

RS1 clamp block: Connect the wire from pin 1 on D+ Connect the wire from pin 2 to D- L. Set the addressing of the kwh-meter to 002. As a result, Maxem can configure itself. 11 05 - Connecting Maxem Option Connecting EV-Box charging station Check that all components are connected to Maxem. Follow the installation instructions of the charging station. These instructions can be found in the installation manual of the charging Connect Maxem with the supplied network cable to the modem or router connected to the Internet. station. Install a circuit breaker or earth leakage circuit breaker at the maximal power available. See p. 10. Place a suitable UTP (CAT5 or CAT6) of the EV-Box to Maxem. (To prevent electromagnetic interference with the RS485 connection, it is recommended to use FTP CAT6 cable at distance more than 25 m. Maximal distance is 50 m). Crimp the supplied RJ10 4P4C connector on Maxem side on the data cable: Ethernet port to Internet Router Connect wire 1 (orange-white) to Pin 1 Connect wire 2 (orange) to pin 2 Connect two other wires for pull relief Scheme EV-Box controller Connect Maxem with the included 230V feeding cable to a plug on the meter box. Make sure this plug is connected to Phase 1 of the power supply. Maxem measures the voltage through the power supply. It is therefore important to know to which phase the 12V/DC AB GND power supply is connected. Cores for pull relief Tab above RS2 port for charging station Pin 2 Pin 1 RS2 E. F. 12 P1 RS1 RS2 CT1 CT2 CT Commissioning 07 - Telephone installation check Maxem runs during commissioning an autoconfiguration process where all measuring points, charging stations and other devices are recognized and set. Follow the following steps: Put on the charging station or restart it to take off the current temporarily and put it on again. Connect the 230V power supply to Maxem or restart Maxem to pull the 230V supply cable temporarily from the plug and plug it in again. LED indications on Maxem Call Cohere in order to activate Maxem. Cohere controls the whole work of the device at a distance and gives OK for a safe installation After successful installation, Maxem sends a current limiting value to the charging station. In case of non-successful installation, this is not the case. This results in OVERLOAD OF THE POWER SUPPLY. Cohere should therefore always give OK for a successful installation. There are different LEDs on Maxem whereby you can check whether components are connected properly. 13 Annex 1 - Troubleshooting Maxem does not connect to the online back end Control that Maxem network connection is active. If there is a data connection, a LED burns orange on the LAN port, green or it is off. If there is activity on the connection, an orange LED is blinking. Control if there is an active Internet connection on the connected router. Control whether the connected UTP cable is correctly connected with the help of a cable tester. Make sure that a DHCP connection can be made to Maxem from the network. Make sure that Maxem can do DNS requests through the network to connect to the back office. It is possible to place Maxem in a DMZ (demilitarized zone) on a separate VLAN. Restart Maxem by turning it off and on. Any problems with the IP addressing can thus be fixed. Auto configuration is not successful Turn off Maxem. Wait for 10 seconds. Then turn on Maxem. If there is a charging station, switch the group of the charging station off and on again. The autoconfiguration will run again. The measurements of the power supply are not logical In case the solar panels are available, turn off the group. Make sure the power supply (socket) of Maxem is connected to L1. Make sure that each current coil is connected to the phase corresponding to the labels of the cable splitter. Make sure the current coils are directed correctly. The arrow on the current coil follows the current direction of the net to the groups of the house. Make sure the cable splitter is connected to Maxem CT1 port. The measurements of the solar panels are not logical Make sure the power supply (socket) of Maxem is connected to L1. Make sure that each current coil is connected to the phase corresponding to the labels of the cable splitter. Make sure the current coils are directed correctly. The arrow on the current coil follows the current direction of the solar inverter to the groups of the house. The charging station is not detected or not correctly detected RS485 connected charging station: control whether the RJ10 (4P4C) connector is well crimped into the RS port of Maxem. See Annex 3 how to crimp RJ connectors the best. Ethernet Connected charging station: Make sure that green and blinking orange LED in the charging station are on for an active connection with Maxem. If this is not the case, there is a possible error in the installed UTP cable. Restart the charging station by putting the voltage off and on again. Make sure the correct firmware is placed on the charging station and that is compatible with Maxem. An employee of Cohere can help. The car does not start during charging Perform a reboot of the group of the charging station in the meter box (turn off the group, wait for 10 seconds, and then turn on the group again). Make sure that the charging cable is not connected to the car. An authorization problem for ICU charging stations may occur, which prevents the charging station from giving a permission to start a charging session. An employee of Cohere can help

14 Annex 2 Installation kwh-meter The car is charged too slow for the available capacity Check the maximal charging capacity of the car. For example, the Tesla Model S needs a duo charger to charge 3x24 A Model S with a single charger charges maximum 3x16 For KEBA charging stations: Check that the DIP switches are set correctly. Too low fusing was applied at Maxem when configuring. An employee of Cohere can help to adjust it. Maxem can measure different devices through an external MID certified kwh-meter. In order autoconfiguration could function properly, the kwh-meter must be set on the corresponding address. This is done as follows: Location of the addressing function in the menu structure Standard addressing kwh-meter The car is charged too fast for the available capacity A too high fusing was applied at Maxem when configuring. 15 2 Troubleshooting Annex 3 Crimping RJ-connectors Materials Crimping pliers (for RJ10 and/or RJ45 connectors) Scissors or pliers Sharp (Stanley) knife RJ10 or RJ45 connectors Steps E. Strip approximately 3 cm of the outer cover with a sharp (Stanley) knife. The individual cores should not be damaged. Cut the cores in a straight line with a pair of pliers in order to have them all with the same length. Insert the cores into the RJ10 or RJ45 connector. Make sure that the cores are placed in the correct order. For the RJ10 connector it is recommended to place 2 additional cores for pull relief. Make sure that the cores are inserted deep enough into the connector in order to have them firmly clamped. Place the connector with the inserted cable into the pliers. Clench it in order to have the cores secured and exposed. It may be necessary to clench the pliers firmly two times or more. Double-check that all cores are fully inserted.
