3 Index What is Maxem? What is Maxem? 5 Product specifications 6 Installation requirements 8 Fuse settings of charging stations 10 From the main grid panel, Maxem measures the energy use in the house and the energy generation of solar panels. Based on this information, it manages the power between the building and multiple charging stations. This way there is no risk of over current on the grid connection and it is easier to utilize the produced solar power. Also more charging stations can be installed than normal. 6 01 Fuse - Voorbereidingen setting of charging vooraf stations 01 - Mounting on the wall Maxem protects against over current Maxem is a control system that regulates the load of the charging station. Maxem offers an intelligent layer of protection on top of the circuit breakers. This is done in the following way: When an over current is measured on the main grid connection, the power of the charging stations is immediately adjusted downwards. When the over current is too high, Maxem is able to pause one or more charging stations until more capacity is available again. A. Mount Maxem on a clean, moisture-free wall. Use the supplied mounting plate and screws for this. Take into account sufficient space around Maxem. Therefore it is possible to fuse the charging stations at a higher rate than normal. All charging stations can be fused at their maximum power capacity, but a fuse of a single charging station may never be higher than the capacity of the main grid connection. Points of attention to install future proof If you wish to make the charging system future proof, then take the following attention points into account: According to the Mode 3 protocol of the IEC62196 electric vehicles need at least 6A to charge Note that vehicles with a Renault Chameleon charger (Renault Zoe) need at least 13A on 3-phase or 6A on 1-phase to charge. The number of electric vehicles that are able to charge at 32A (1-phase or 3-phase will increase substantially in the coming years. 20mm 20mm 20mm Wiring at the bottom 70mm 10 11

Verify that the UTP cable is properly connected using a cable tester. Make sure Maxem is able to make a DHCP connection to the network. Make sure Maxem is able make DNS requests over the network. Restart Maxem by turning it off and on. Any problems with IP addressing can be solved this way. The charging station is not detected or not detected correctly RS485 connected charging stations: Check whether the RJ10 (4P4C) connector is securely plugged in. See Appendix 3 how to crimp RJ connectors. Ethernet-connected charging stations: Verify that there is an active data connection with the charging station (visible by a green and orange LED). If not, check whether the RJ45 connectors are properly crimped. Restart the charging station by turing it off and on again. Make sure the charging station runs firmware which is compatible with Maxem. The car charges too slow or too fast Maxem software is not configured. Go to the website install.maxem.io to run the configuration tool. Check what the maximum charging power of the car is. For example, the Tesla Model S requires a dual charger to charge on 3x24A. A Model S with a single charger charges up to 3x16A. For KEBA charging stations: Check whether the DIP switches are set correctly. The fuse for the charging station is set too low or too high in the configuration of Maxem. A Cohere employee can help you to customize this. *Strikethrough what does not apply **Specify how the each phase is connected to each charging station. Enter the appropriate phase of the main grid connection in each of the boxes

15 Appendix 2 - Configuring 65A kwh-meter One or more cars do not start charging Restart the charging station (power off the MCB, wait 10 seconds, then power up the MCB again). Make sure the charging cable is not connected to the car. EV-Box The charging station is running on out dated firmware. Contact EV-Box for a firmware update. Restart the charging station after the update. Maxem set a power value outside of the the charging stations range. Make sure the EV-Box is set to at minimum 6A and maximum to the fuse of the charging station. ICU The charging station is running on out dated firmware. Contact ICU Alfen for a firmware update. Restart the charging station after the update. There is an authorization issue so that the charging station does not receive permission to start a charging session. Contact ICU Alfen to configure this online. KEBA The charging station is not set smart charge ready. Make sure DIP switch 1.3 is turned on. Tesla Wall The charging station is not set to Slave (F mode). The red LED Connector indicator flashes 4x on the Wall Connector. Set it to Slave (F Mode). Maxem is able to measure different devices using an external MID certified kwh meter. In order for the communication to function correctly, the kwh-meter must be set to the corresponding address. Here s how to do this: Location of the addressing function in the menu structure. Standard addressing on kwh-meter Number of devices Type of device Device Example addresses Node Address Node Address Main grid connection 100 Main grid connection 100 Solar 001 Solar #1 001 Charging station 002 Solar #2 011 Heat pump 004 Charging station #1 002 Charging station #2 012 Heat pump #1 004 Heat pump #2 014 The values in the web portal are not logical The kwh-meter(s) have to be set correctly. If the address is not set correctly, the Maxem install wizard will not recognize the kwh-meter. If the address is set at 16 and cannot be changed, this indicates that the protocol settings are incorrect. Make sure the kwh-meter is set as follows: Protocol: Modbus. Parity: Even. Baud rate: The kwh-meter is not connected correctly to the power supply. This can also be seen on the display of the kwh-meter where the kwh value does not go up. Connect the power supply to the kwh-meter correctly. The phase distribution of the power supply of the charging stations is not correctly configured on Maxem s. Check the phase distribution and communicate this to Cohere. Navigation through the ABB B23 / B24 kwh-meter menu Press for 2 seconds to access the main or go up in the menu. Scroll through the menu or set value higher or lower. Press to enter a menu item or to accept an adjustment. Press to adjust a setting. If you see this icon in the kwh meter display, there is an active data connection with Maxem
