2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview 215 Launch of Central West Europe zone (CWE) Flow-Based market coupling on 2 -the threshold of 5, MW of exchange capacity was exceeded on 22. Fossil fuel thermal generation reached its lowest level in 6 years, whereas photovoltaic sector achieved a new record. Corrected for climate factors, overall demand has been on a downward trend. Increased demand in the sector of large-scale industry did not make up for the lower demand from professionals and individuals and SMI/SME. The fossil fuel thermal sector achieved an average generation of 953 MW, its lowest level in 6 years. CCGT power plants provide more than 65% of this production. The renewable energy sectors exc. hydraulic and the hydraulic sector showed increased generation compared with 214. The photovoltaic sector exceeded the record set last month with a new maximum monthly generation close to 9. The maximum export balance of France to the CWE zone reached 5, MW on 22 and is more than 15% higher than the level observed in 215. Five projects were commissioned on the RTEnetwork in 215 -an autotransformer, three overhead links and an overhead/underground link. Monthly Overview
3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview 215 DEMAND Temperatures for 215 were slightly higher on average than those for 214 (+.8 C) but they were still lower than normal (-.7 C). Monthly gross demand was therefore below that recorded in 214. Corrected for climate factors, overall demand maintained its downward trend (-.6%). GENERATION The fossil fuel thermal sector achieved an average generation of 953 MW, its lowest level ever. CCGT power plants provide more than 65% of this production This ends four months of generation higher than 214 values. Hydro-electric generation and RES generation exc. hydro-electric increased compared with the same month of the previous year. Reaching an average generation of 8,71 MW, hydro-electric generation started to increase again. The other renewable energy sectors had an average generation of 4,75 MW. Nuclear generation fell slightly compared with the previous year. WIND AND PV The wind sector recorded similar generation in 214, with 1,57, a slight increase compared with il. The photovoltaic sector maintained last month's trend, namely an increase in generation compared with last year, essentially due to the expansion of the French photovoltaic park. A new maximum of monthly generation was achieved in with almost 9. INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES The Flow-Based market coupling put in place by the Transport Network Managers and electricity exchanges in the CWE region (Germany, Belgium, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands) on is designed to facilitate international exchanges of electricity and the integration of renewable energies. This method enables more precise planning of electricity exchange capacities available at the borders, by offering a more accurate vision of the constraints of the network. The presentation of the bilateral exchanges of electricity with Belgium and Germany has been replaced by an analysis of France's exchanges of electricity with the CWE region. Thus, France's maximum export balance to the CWE area exceeded 4,3 MW, the level observed before coupling, for 2 hours. The capacity for exchange even reached 5,6 MW on 22 The balance with Switzerland and the UK has fallen compared with 214, but remains an export balance. Conversely, the balances with Italy and Spain increased again similar to last month and are clearly export balances. Thus, throughout, France was an exporter. NEW WORKS Five works were commissioned in 215 on the RTE network - a 4/225 kv autotransformer, three 63 kv overhead links and a 63 kv overhead/underground link.
