2 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview il 218 il 218 was characterised by very mild temperatures during almost the whole of the month, 2.3 C above those of il 217, and consequently by a fall in demand compared to 217. Gross demand declined by 1.2% compared to il 217. Corrected for climate factors, demand was higher (+.5%). Demand by industrial sites connected to the public transmission network increased by 2%. Generation from renewable sources increased compared to il 217 and therefore nuclear and thermal fossil fuel generation decreased. Wind generation increased by 48% compared to 217 and solar generation fell by 4%. Monthly demand was down in all regions, with the exception of four of them. Monthly generation increased in all regions except three of them. ket prices were down overall compared to ch, particularly in France. France is a net exporter with all neighbouring countries. Four facilities went into service in il 218. Monthly Overview - il 218 2

3 Monthly Electrical Energy Overview il 218 DEMAND Gross demand reached 36.2 TWh, down 1.2% compared to il 217, due to an average monthly temperature that was higher by 2.3 C. Corrected for climate factors, overall demand was higher (+.5%). The increase in demand by large industry has continued to slow down since uary (+2%). GENERATION Generation from renewable sources increased compared to il 217. Hydro-electric generation increased very sharply, by 64.8%, compared to 217, and generation from renewable sources increased by 24%. This led to a 3.7% decrease in nuclear generation and a very sharp decrease in thermal fossil fuel generation by more than 65%. WIND AND SOLAR Wind generation was up by 48% compared to il 217 and reached 2.17 TWh. Solar generation, down by 4% compared with 217, reached 1 TWh. TERRITORIES AND REGIONS The change in monthly regional demand compared to il 217 ranged between -6.2% in Centre Val de Loire and +6.3% in Occitanie. Monthly generation, stable at the national level (+.2%), fell sharply in the Pays de La Loire, Centre Val de Loire and Nouvelle Aquitaine regions and increased in the other metropolitan regions. ELECTRICITY MARKETS The French price fell compared to ch and averaged 33.6/MWh over the month. Favourable conditions, including moderate demand and sustained hydraulic generation, limited prices. In Germany, three hourly periods with negative prices were recorded on Saturday, 7 il. On that day, renewable production covered more than 8% of German consumption at noon. INTERNATIONAL TRADE The balance in favour of exports was 5.6 TWh for the whole of il. This balance reached a maximum export value of more than 15 GW on the 27th. This constituted an export balance across all borders. NEW INSTALLATIONS The commissioning of works in il 218 was aimed at partial underground links as well as the connection of an SNCF substation. However, for four regions, this demand was up, by as much as +6.3% (+ 172 ) for the Occitanie region. > 2% to 2% -2 to % -2 to -4% < -4% The regions in which this decrease was the largest are the Centre-Val de Loire (-6.2%, i.e. a decrease of 92 ) and Hauts-de-France (-4.1%, i.e. a decrease of 166 ). 11 Monthly electrical energy overview il 218 Data sources This document relies on metered data collected by RTE and also on data sent by the french DSOs, especially erdf and EDF SEI. Extreme capacity value trend Monthly gross consumption Max/Min Power: Maximum/minimum power consumption in France over the month, excluding Corsica Absolute extreme value: Extreme value for consumption observed since 1st uary 28 Perimeter : France with Corsica, losses included Gross national demands and actual temperatures Trend by sector in sliding year adjusted from the climate effect Total consumption: Consumption of France, with Corsica, losses included. Adjusted from climate effect. Adjusted consumption on PDN: Represents the consumption of resditential and SMEs/SMIs sector. Data adjusted from weather effect. Direct RTE customers : Industrial sites connected directly to the PTN (excluding consumption at source). Energy sector is excluded Trend in sliding year : growth between the last 12 cumulative monthly values and the previous 12 Daily peak for perimeter France excl. Corsica Generation The "Hydro-electric" category includes all types of hydro plants (impoundment, run-of-river, etc.). Consumption for pumping by pumped storage facilities is not deducted from generation. The "Nuclear" category includes all nuclear units. Consumption by auxiliary units is deducted from generation. The "Fossil-fuel thermal" category includes Coal, Oil and Gas-fired technologies. The "Other RES" category includes PV solar, Biomass, Biogas and paper/card waste. The installed capacity values are valid for the end of the month, with the exception of the "Other RES" category, which is valid for the start of the month. Wind Generation Coverage of demand Load factor : Ratio of wind power generated to nominal installed wind capacity Coverage rate : Ratio of wind power generated to gros national consumption at a given time Generation Filière Eolien Puissance installée 361 MW Projets en file d'attente Puissance cumulée Nb Puissance cumulée MW MW MW 1 3 MW dont Offshore Photovoltaïque 24 MW Projets en préparation Nb 42% 8% Wind: onshore and offshore wind projects. The share of offshore capacity is indicated in the row below Installed capacity: Cumulative capacity of installations for which a connection agreement has been signed. Queued projects: Projects which have entered the connection queue under RTE's connection procedure, i.e. projects which have signed a "queuing proposal" with RTE, following a detailed connection study or a "technical and financial proposal". Projects in preparation: Connection projects for which RTE has been asked to provide a detailed study or technical and financial proposal, currently being examined by RTE, or for which the Prices in Europe Monthly average of spot prices in the different price zones of the coupled area. France is always represented in white, the other areas are coloured based on the difference in price compared with France (blue: lower price, red: higher price, the deeper the colour, the greater the difference). Glossary Spot price: Wholesale price of electricity, determined by the power exchanges the day before for delivery the following day, for each hour of the day. Spread : Price differential between two price areas (here between each price area and France). Price area: Geographic area inside which the electricity price is identical and where exchanges are done with no allocation of capacity. A price area may combine several countries (for example: Germany, Austria, Luxembourg) and a country may be subdivided into more than one price area (for example: Italy, Norway). International exchanges Daily extrema : Extrema of the half hour mean power value of the global international commercial exchanges, observed daily. Daily spot price changes Change of the spot price in France and in the coupled neighbouring regions, over a month in daily average, (NB: for Italy the price of the northern area is shown, for Nordic countries the average of the areas displayed on the map is shown). Type of installation Name of installation (or substation) Département Nature of work Why can the data displayed in real time be different from that published in the Monthly Overview? The data published by RTE changes several times before becoming final. It is, in fact, refined according to the information that RTE receives at several moments: 1- At the time of real-time publication, the data is taken from telemetry carried out continuously by RTE. It is this data that can be viewed in éco2mix and communicated during peak demand. 2- In the following month, this data is consolidated, i.e. refined using metering data from the various electricity distribution networks. This consolidated data is published in the Monthly Overview and updated in éco2mix. 3- During the first half of the following year, it becomes final by being refined with the latest metering data from the distribution networks.
