4 The Problem Everyday, thousands of lead-acid, nickel-cadmium and gel batteries are put to waste. Most of these batteries have become sulphated, and do not recharge any longer. Therefore they are sent directly to be disposed of. 5 The Solution The BRT 20-1 treatment is based on a high technology process which restores lead-acid, nickelcadmium and gel batteries through an electrochemical sulphate revertion process to: Double the battery life span Improve productivity of the battery Decrease operating costs Improve machinery performance The battery productive capacity decreases over the life span of the battery and in the end only 25% of its original capacity is left. During charging cycles, a battery becomes sulphated. Sulphation is a by-product of the chemical reaction that gives a battery its charge. From the 1 st charge, sulphation slowly starts to form, by a build-up of crystals that will cause progressive deterioration. When the battery shows strong sulphation on the electrodes, it may heat up abnormally during charging, and even refuses to take charge. In normal circumstances this battery is scrapped. Regular use of the BRT 20-1 system helps to eliminate these sulphated crystals from building-up on the electrodes. Batterie Plus's computerised control system delivers an extremely powerful current spike during its carefully controlled cycle of alternating frequency sequences, which means that sulphation within the battery dissipates, reverting to active material leaving the lead plates sulphate free, reenergised, charged and ready for use. 5

6 A simplified explanation of the sulphation process When a battery s energy-charge is drained and reloaded during normal working cycles, sulphate-crystals gradually build up on the electrodes, preventing the battery from effectively delivering current; these crystals in effect suffocate the battery. 6

Overheating Sulphation build-up inhibits the electrochemical reaction that produces current. 13 Services Batterie Plus offer OPTION 1: Reconditioning Regeneration of older batteries that have lost their capacity and refuse to charge, in other words a previously scrapped battery. The success rate is 60% Option 2: Service Plan Annual Regeneration of batteries that are between 1-2 years old. 15 Reconditioning Regeneration Batterie Plus Reconditioning Regeneration is designed for older batteries that are operating well below their optimum level or that have become unusable due to heavy sulphation buildup. A Reconditioning Regeneration can even be used to revive batteries that will not accept normal charging, a result not previously obtainable with conventional, or even pulse chargers. An average Reconditioning Regeneration usually takes hours but can require more time if the battery is in very bad condition.
