Bring your car and some Elbow Grease and do your car too! Chuck Giraud got our SEGTOA static cling decals printed and they look great! Each member gets one free decal and additional ones are available for $1.00 each. I have been giving the free ones to members as I see them and I will have them at the March meeting. Those who haven t gotten one by the time the 2017 SEGTOA directory is published will receive one in the directory. We currently have 94 paid-up members for 2017 (with a few stragglers bringing up the rear). Hopefully we ll break 100! Pretty nice! I m looking forward to a GREAT PONTIAC showing at this year s BOPC in May. SEGTOA will be assisting the Dixie Olds Club with parking. Our webmaster Craig Dean will provide a clay bar, wax, and polish demonstration using the Meguiar's Clay Bar, Compound and Polishing system. Craig will demonstrate his technique using orbital buffers and good old fashion muscle power. This is going to be interesting and fun! I will provide lunch (hot dogs and chili), water, sweet tea and maybe a taste of New Orleans seafood and sausage Gumbo! We can have a quick meeting before Craig begins the demonstration. I will have two easy-up tents set up for shelter and I have a decent amount of off-street parking so please drive your classics and pray for great weather! Please bring your own chair.for this event, I will need you to RSVP. Please confirm (yes or no) by Saturday, March 4th. This will give me time to prepare for the Saturday, March 11th event. Thanks! Several SEGTOA members have attended the Summit Racing Atlanta Motorama at the Atlanta Motor Speedway the last few years. There are club awards for attendance, so get your form and fees in to Ernie Stephens by early March for him to turn in. You ll be receiving additional s regarding this event. See pages 5-6. The BOPC dates are set, so you can ink that in on your calendar. It s a great time with great cars and great people. SEGTOA has volunteered to assist with parking. See pages 7-9. Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge gets bigger every year. It s a great drive to and from the event, and there are 200+ cars at this Pontiacs Only show. Details on pages We ll head up on Thursday evening this year since parking continues to run out earlier every show. Details to follow. Details on the GTOAA Nationals can be found at Hubcaps and History is another great, smaller show in a nice setting, Old Downtown Marietta. The picnic and Christmas party are the two biggest SEGTOA events of the year, and we d like to see them get even bigger. The more people we can get at these events, the more fun they are. The Tail of the Dragon overnight trip never disappoints, and we d like to see a few more cars and people for that one as well. 13 Tech Tips: What the.? So. I m under my car the other day (working on it, not run over by my wife) after a new muffler installation, and decide to snug up my parking brake cables, as they d been on for a few years and the pedal stopped retracting all the way when releasing. Oddly enough, I can t find the receipt for the cables, so I don t know where they came from, but I suspect it was Right Stuff Detailing. So I grab two 1/2 wrenches. Hmm. Too big. Grab two 7/16 wrenches, too small. You gotta be kidding me. 12 mm?!? I mean, I have the wrenches, but really? During that same muffler installation, I had to loosen two band-style clamps, which are Pypes brand from Summit Racing. Looked like 9/16 bolts, so I grabbed a wrench. Too small, so I grab a 5/8. They called them Flash News. If you have a 65 GTO you need this book. This is not a copy, it s the original book from the dealer. GTO FLAT RATE GUIDE $15 Original flat rate guide for repairs on GTO/Tempest it estimates hours of labor to fix car. Great for any owner of 65 GTO. I ve never seen one. SEGTOA is an organization dedicated to the survival of the Pontiac GTO, LeMans, and other classic Pontiacs. SEGTOA is open to anyone who shares our common interest in GTOs and other Pontiacs. We enjoy monthly Chapter meetings, including cruises, car shows, picnics, technical sessions and other fun activities. Our members hail from four different states! Members and their spouses, significant others and children are invited and encouraged to attend each monthly club function. Club Membership Dues Dues are $20 per year, payable January 1st each year. New members receive a $10 discount on membership their first year. SEGTOA dues requirements are waived for all active military. Membership in GTOAA and/or POCI is required for all members joining after Members must be in good standing to attend meetings, with the option to bring their membership up to date at any scheduled meeting.
