4 . PARTS REPLACEMENT AND PREPARATION FOR ADJUSTMENT -. ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY OF CASSETTE COMPARTMENT For detils on disssembling the mechnism deck (R mechnism), refer to the Service Mnul of the min unit in which the R mechnism is mounted. Before ttching or removing the cssette comprtment, check the position of L cssette. Cssette comprtment Screw (Remove in the direction of rrow A.) Tightening torque of cssette comprtment ± 0.096N m (3.5 ± 0. kg cm) Screw Positioning pin SL shifter SL shifter Bent portion C Bent portion C of the reel selector slider should be securely hooked on the bent portion of the SL shifter. Positioning pin A B Bent portion C When selecting cssette position, be creful not to touch the slider drive shft becuse it cn be esily bent or broken. Do not touch the slider drive shft. Reel select slider When ttching the cssette comprtment, move the reel selector slider in the direction of rrow Bto check the position of L cssette. Select the desired cssette position by pressing the clw position. -. HOW TO LOAD/UNLOAD [Using the regulted power supply] Note: Mke sure to remove the connector of the cm motor from the bord of the min unit nd pply +5V current. [Mnul: No cm motor] Note: Remove the cm motor from the motor holder while referring to Informtion on pge 3. Cm motor White Rotte the coupling ger by hnd to lod or unlod. [Rer side of chssis] Gry Apply current from the inlets of the connector. 6 -4. About Mode Selector II About Mode Selector II 4-. OUTLINE This unit is mechnism drive tool which supplements the mintennce of ech mechnism deck. Its functions re described below.. Mnul test A mode which drives the motor only while the switch is ON. It enbles the opertor to control the motor s desired.. Step test A mode which drives the motor until the current condition detected by the sensor chnges to nother condition. It enbles the movements mde by the motor in ech opertion to be controlled while being detected. 3. Auto test A mode tht checks if the mechnism opertes normlly ccording to the condition shift tble recorded in the unit for ech mechnism deck. All the conditions of the decks re checked through series of opertions. An error messge is displyed nd opertions re stopped if incorrect shifts nd conditions re detected. 4-. MECHANISM CONDITION (POSITION) SHIFTING ORDER LIST After selecting the mechnism deck, select one of the two test modes other thn the uto test, nd press the RVS or FF button to specify the mechnism stte (position). 7 . PERIODIC CHECK Crry out the following mintennce nd periodic checks not only to fully disply the functions nd performnce of the set, but lso for the equipment nd tpe. After replcing, service the set s follows, regrdless of the length of use. -. CLEANING OF ROTARY DRUM ASSEMBLY. Press wiping cloth (J-) moistened with clening fluid (J-) ginst the rotry drum ssembly gently, nd clen it while rotting the rotry drum ssembly slowly with your finger in the counterclockwise direction. Note: Do not rotte the motor on power or rotte the rotry drum ssembly in the clockwise direction with your finger. The hed tip will lso be dmged if the wiping cloth is moved perpendiculrly ginst it. Therefore, be sure to follow the bove instructions when clening the rotry drum ssembly. -. CLEANING OF TAPE PATH SYSTEM. Clen the tpe pth systems (TG to TG8 nd cpstn) nd the lower drum using super fine pplictor (J-3) moistened with clening fluid. Note: Mke sure tht no oil or grese of the link mechnisms sticks to the super file pplictor (J-3). Note: Do not use pplictor moistened with lcohol to the other guide clening. Note: Gresing Alwys use the specified grese. If the viscosity differs, vrious problems my occur. (Use SG-94 for ll prts of the R mechnism.) Check the quntity of grese when instlling the prts which is needed to pply the grese. When replcing these prts, mke sure to pply the specified mount of grese. FOIL (SG-94): Prt No

8 3. PARTS REPLACEMENT Precution For detils on disssembling the cbinets, bords nd other prts, refer to Disssembly of the Service Mnul of ech model. For detils on replcing prts (disssembly, ssembly) of the mechnism deck, refer to Informtion on pge TAPE GUIDE /8 AND GUIDE GUARD Disssembly/Assembly When the tpe guide /8 is replced or ttched, perform ech djustment from Adjustment Strt - of the flowchrt on pge. To ttch or remove the tpe guide, use the screwdriver for the tpe pth (J-5). When ttching the TG rollers, check the upwrd nd downwrd directions nd ttch them to the chssis shft. TG roller Fce the side of the deepest hole downwrd nd insert the roller into the shft. The guide gurd is fixed t ech slit of the cssette positioning shft. To ttch the guide gurd, only insert it into the right nd left holes. To remove it, use pir of tweezers s shown in the figure below. Insert pir of tweezers into the clernce of the chssis to relese the lock of the slit. Guide gurd Cssette positioning shfts [TG side] (The components re the sme s on the TG8 side.) TAPE GUIDE /7 Disssembly/Assembly When the tpe guide /7 is replced or ttched, perform ech djustment from Adjustment Strt -3 of the flowchrt on pge. TG7 roller To ttch or remove the tpe guide, use the screwdriver for the tpe pth (J-5). When ttching the TG rollers, check the upwrd nd downwrd directions nd tht the TG roller to be ttched to the TG7 side is exclusively for the TG7 side. Then ttch the TG rollers to the chssis shft. Fce the side of the deepest hole downwrd nd insert the roller into the shft. The lower flnge of the TG7 roller is thicker thn those of the TG,, nd 8 rollers. Screw 3 Do not fsten this screw. Reel motor Pss the two flexible bords of the drum ssembly through the hole. After inserting the flexible bord of the reel motor into CN3, ttch the reel motor nd lock CN3. CN 3 Insert the clw into the long hole of the chssis nd fix the cover with the screw FL MOTOR ASSEMBLY, GEAR A, GEAR B AND GEAR CD ASSEMBLY Disssembly/Assembly Positioning bosses FL motor ssembly Ger CD ssembly Remove the clws of the FL motor ssembly from hole A nd hole B nd remove the FL motor ssembly. Then, remove ech ger, etc. To ttch them, fter ttching the gers, etc. to the FL motor ssembly nd hook the positioning bosses of the FL motor block on holes C nd D then fit the two clws in ech hole A nd B. Ger A Ger B Hole D Hole C The worm gers re ttched inside the FL motor ssembly. When ttching the FL motor ssembly, pply grese there. Hole A Apply grese (hlf size of one grin of rice). Hole B 9

GL ARM S ASSEMBLY, GL ARM T ASSEMBLY, COASTER S ASSEMBLY AND COASTER T ASSEMBLY Disssembly: Remove the prts in order of,,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 For the disssembling nd ssembling procedures of the GL ger, GL helicl torsion spring, etc., refer to pge 0. Coter stop wsher GL rm T ssembly 5 Coster stopper 9 Stop wsher 4 6 Coter stop wsher Stop wsher 3 GL rm S ssembly Move the TG/7 rms to the loding position with the regulted power supply or by hnd while referring to pge 4. Ech coster ssembly must be in the unloding position. TG rm TG7 rm Unloding position 7 Coster stopper With considertion for future ssembly, check from the rer of the chssis tht the phse of the loding rm ssy is ligned. Coster T ssembly 0 8 Do not touch the tpe guide ( prt). The phse must be ligned with the hole of the chssis. Loding rm ssy Coster S ssembly Assembly Attch the coster S/T ssembly to the chssis with new coster stopper while being creful not to touch the tpe guide. Do the work while holding the drum side of ech coster. 3 Attch the GL rm S ssembly while checking the phse of ech prt. Fix the stop wshers t the correct position, using new stop wshers. Hole B Loding rm ssy Coster stoppers Hole A Hole C Coster T ssembly Coster S ssembly Hole D Attch the GL rm T ssembly. Fix the stop wshers in the correct position, using new stop wshers. Stop wsher (The stop hole is smller.) Coster stop wsher (The stop hole is lrger.) Stop wsher (The stop hole is smller.) GL rm T ssembly Check ech phse djustment while referring to the bove figure. Hole A of the GL ger T nd hole B of the GL ger S must fce ech other. Hole D of the loding rm ssy must be ligned with the hole of the chssis, nd the endmost ger tooth of the loding rm ssy must fce towrd hole C of the GL ger S. Coster stop wsher (The stop hole is lrger.) 0

MIC BASE GUIDE, MIC BASE ASSEMBLY AND MIC BASE SPRING Disssembly/Assembly Remove the six solders on the FP-04 flexible bord from For the disssembling nd ssembling procedures of the components the rer of the chssis. Pss the flexible bord through hole of the MIC bse ssembly, refer to pge 0. A nd pull it out of the front side of the chssis while being creful not to dmge it. To ttch the flexible bord, perform MIC bse guide the steps of disssembly in reverse order. MD-76 bord Clw FP-04 flexible bord (Remove the six solders.) Clw Stop wsher (Do not reuse.) MIC bse ssembly Six solders Temperture of tip of soldering iron : 350 ± 0 C Hold time : one second or shorter Hole A Move the reel selector slider in the direction of rrow B nd ttch the MIC bse ssembly t the position of S cssette. For the ssembly of the MIC bse spring, refer to the figure. B Hole A MIC bse spring Positioning pins Reel selector slider When selecting cssette position, be creful not to touch the slider drive shft becuse it cn be esily bent or broken. Do not touch the slider drive shft. Reel select slider Note: Do not hold the shft when selecting the reels. Insert the side of the shorter spring into the hole of the holder nd hook the side of the longer spring. When ttching the MIC bse guide, lock the positioning pins, clw C, nd clw D in this order. Route the flexible bord into the clernce of the MIC bse guide. Clernce MIC bse ssembly FP-04 flexible bord MIC bse guide Select the desired cssette position by pressing the clw position DRUM CAP, DRUM ASSEMBLY AND TAPE SUPPORT Disssembly: Remove them in order of,,3 For the disssembly nd ssembly procedures of the components of the drum ssembly, refer to pge. Drum ssembly 3 Flexible bord (0P) Drum cp Flexible bord (7P) Positioning pins Tpe support Clw D Pins Clw C Assembly: Attch the prts while referring to the disssembly procedure nd the figure below. (After ssembling, djust the tpe pth while referring to pge nd therefter.) Assembly nd disssembly of the drum ssembly When pulling the prt in the direction of the rrow, the clw is removed from the center shft, then the right pin nd the drum cp re removed s shown in the figure on the right. To ttch the drum ssembly, perform the disssembly steps in reverse order. Be creful not to remove this together with the drum cp. Tightening torque of drum ssembly ± N m (0.3 ± 0.05 kg cm) The clw is hooked on the sub-chssis. The clws re hooked under the sub-chssis. Positioning pin

PINCH ARM ASSEMBLY Disssembly/Assembly For the disssembling nd ssembling procedures of the tpe retiner nd compression coil spring (tpe retiner), refer to pge CAPSTAN MOTOR Disssembly/Assembly (After ssembling, djust the tpe pth from pge.) Roller B Roller A Cpstn motor Pinch rm ssembly Be creful not to touch the motor shft ( prt). Clw Push roller A into the groove s shown in the figure. Insert roller B into the clw. To remove the pinch rm ssembly, pull out the pinch rm upwrd while pushing the clw. Clw Roller B Roller A Screw Tightening torque of cpstn motor 0.96 ± N m (.0 ± 0. kg cm) 3-. PENDULUM RETAINER AND PENDULUM ARM ASSEMBLY Disssembly: Remove them in order of,,3 (To ttch them, perform the disssembly steps in reverse order.) Screw Tightening torque of pendulum retiner ± N m (3.5 ± 0. kg cm) Pendulum retiner (Remove in the direction of the rrow.) Notes during ssembly When ssembling or disssembling the pendulum rm ssembly, be creful of the following. [Rer side of pendulum retiner] Hole E Shft C D F Shft C 3 Pendulum rm ssembly Shft A Shft Insert tip D of the pendulum rm into hole E of the pendulum retiner nd insert the pendulum into shft C. Slide the pendulum rm in the direction of rrow F nd ttch it to the chssis. Attch the pendulum retiner to shft B. Be creful of the positions of the pendulum stopper t the rer of the chssis nd shft A of the pendulum rm. Shfts B Pendulum stopper Shft B Shft B Cn be removed. Shfts B Positioning boss Cnnot be removed. Shft A of the pendulum must be in this position.

Check nd djustment Connect the positive (+) probe of digitl voltmeter to E.T out (TG: for mesurement of TG dt) or to E.T out (TG7: for mesurement of TG7 dt). First, press the guide to the TG/7 preset plte (J-3), then relese your hnd from the guide nd red the voltmeter vlue. Adjust RV4 (TG side) or RV (TG7 side) until the voltmeter mesurement is.5 ± 0. V (TG side) or. ± 0. V (TG7 side) when relesing your hnd. Then press the guide to the TG/7 preset plte (J-3). Adjust RV3 (TG side) or RV (TG7 side) until the voltmeter mesurement is.3 ± 0. V. Preprtion before check Mount the mechnism deck in the min unit, connect ll the connectors, then insert the mini DV torque cssette (J-7) into the mechnism block. Mini DV torque cssette (J-8). Check nd djustment FWD (TG) side The torque vlue should stisfy 9.5 ± mn m while the mini DV torque cssette runs in the FWD mode. If it does not stisfy this, tke the following mesure. Re-ttch the spring to the upper hook if the mesurement vlue is beyond the specifictions or re-ttch the spring to the lower hook if the mesurement vlue is below the specifictions. Then, repet the mesurement. For more detils, refer to pge. [FWD side] 9.5 ± mn m Visully check the guge block of the cssette with the cbinet (L) ssembly removed. [RVS side] 9.5 ± mn m RVS (TG7) side The torque vlue should stisfy 9.5 ± mn m while the mini DV torque cssette runs in the RVS mode. If it does not stisfy this, tke the following mesure. Re-ttch the spring to the upper hook if the mesurement vlue is beyond the specifictions or re-ttch the spring to the lower hook if the mesurement vlue is below the specifictions.
