Husing: designed and manufactured in mnblc frm t btain a cmpact bdy able t sustain heavy axial lads and high machining accuracy. High quality materials are used: castings in aluminium ally EN 1706 AC-AlSi6Cu4 castings in grey cast irn EN-GJL-250 (UNI EN 1561). 16 Linear actuatrs CLA Series and CLB Series.5 ACCESSORIES ELECTRIC STROKE END SWITCHES Cde FC CAM 2 CAM 1 FC 2 FC 1 The ELECTRIC STROKE END SWITCHES allw t limit the actuatr strke aviding t exceed the extreme psitins (Lc r La) and reach the mechanical stps and in this way preventing pssible damage. The ELECTRIC STROKE END SWITCHES cnsists f tw nrmally clsed miniature electric switches that are fi xed n the actuatr husing and perated by cams. The cams are driven by the acme r ball screw thrugh a tw-stage gear transmissin. The fi rst stage cnsists f a wrm gear with cnstant rati. The secnd stage cnsists f a cylindrical straight-tth gear with rati that depends n the maximum actuatr strke. T set up the actual actuatr wrking strke, the rd shall be psitined in the required psitin (EXTENDED ACTUATOR r RETRACTED ACTUATOR) and set the psitin f the relevant cam arund the supprt tube, turning and fi xing it in the right psitin. CAM 1 perates the switch FC 1, which crrespnds t the RETRACTED ACTUATOR (Lc) stpping psitin, while CAM 2 perates the switch FC 2, which crrespnds t the EXTENDED ACTUATOR (La) stpping psitin. The entire assembly switches, cams and cam driving transmissin CONTROL CIRCUIT - is inside a sealed bx. The ELECTRIC STROKE END SWITCHES must be cnnected t the electric cntrl circuit as shwn in the WIRING DIAGRAM n the left t guarantee mtr switch ff and t prevent damage t the actuatr and t the applicatin equipment. The ELECTRIC STROKE END SWITCHES are supplied already wired BROWN YELLOW with a multicre cables mm 2, standard length 1.5 m FC 1 FC 2 r lnger cable n request. 17 Linear actuatrs CLA Series and CLB Series.5 ACCESSORIES WIRING DIAGRAM AC -phase mtr AC 1-phase mtr DC mtr SWITCH FOR INTERMEDIATE POSITION Cde FC In case an electric signal is required t identify any intermediate psitin f the push rd (between Lc and La), in additin t the tw switches FC 1 and FC 2 an extra switch FC, munted abve the first tw and perated by the relevant CAM, can be supplied. WARNING! The push rd psitin determined by the switch FC while the push rd is extending is different frm the push rd psitin determined by the switch FC while the push rd is retracting. It is therefre necessary t verify the difference between the tw psitins, by direct check r asking SERVOMECH, t evaluate the cmpatibility with the applicatin requirements. CAM FC The switch FC is supplied with nrmally CLOSED cntact already wired with a multicre cable mm 2, standard length 1.5 m r lnger cable n request. The wire clurs are BLUE and BROWN. 118

18 Linear actuatrs CLA Series and CLB Series.5 ACCESSORIES ROTARY POTENTIOMETER Cde POR 5k POR 5k The rtary ptentimeter is an abslute transducer whse utput signal is prprtinal t the distance between the reference psitin ( ZERO psitin) and the current psitin f the actuatr push rd. The rtary ptentimeter gives an analg utput signal. The rtary ptentimeter is munted n the same shaft that supprts the cams which perate the strke end switches and therefre it is driven by the same gear transmissin. While the part f the ptentimeter which cntains the electric resistance remains statinary, because it is cnnected t the actuatr husing thrugh a reactin arm, the ther part with the cursr inside is driven by the transmissin shaft and rtates. 19 Linear actuatrs CLA Series and CLB Series.5 ACCESSORIES ANTI-TURN device Cde AR KEY NUT OUTER TUBE T achieve a linear mtin it is necessary t prevent the rtary mvement f the nut and f the push rd fixed t it. In many applicatins it is the external structure itself that, being cnnected t the push rd, prevents the rtatin and allws the linear mtin. In sme cases the lad applied n the push rd cannt be guided and therefre the rtatin cannt be avided. In such cases it is necessary t use actuatrs with an internal anti-turn device. The anti-turn device allws the linear mtin withut any external reactin n the push rd. It can be supplied upn request. The anti-turn device shwn in the abve picture cnsists in a steel key fixed and aligned alng the uter tube. The brnze nut, prvided with a suitable keyway, slides n this key, making translate the push rd. The anti-turn device AR is available fr acme screw linear actuatrs CLA Series nly. NUT SAFETY CLUTCH Cde FS DISK SPRINGS SETTING WASHER WORMWHEEL WORMWHEEL SUPPORT BUSH The safety clutch is a device able t prtect the actuatr and the machinery where it is installed frm dynamic verlad during the linear travel and frm incrrect use which culd bring the actuatr t the mechanical stp. This device is a trque limiter n the wrm wheel. The trque limiter clutch is preladed during assembly. The prelad is fixed and related t the rati and the perfrmances f each actuatr as stated n the perfrmance tables in this catalgue. On request, with a purchasing rder, a different prelad can be set t achieve different perfrmance. If an verlad is applied n the actuatr, the safety clutch starts slipping and the push rd stps while the mtr is still running. When the verlad decreases up t the rated lad value r less, the safety clutch stps slipping and the push rd starts travelling again. The safety clutch FS is nt intended t be used as a lad limiter, but nly t prtect the actuatr and the machinery where it is installed. D nt use the safety clutch as a strke end cntrl device! If it is frequently activated it rapidly wears, the prelad is reduced and cnsequently als the actuatr lad perfrmance is lwer. 120

20 Linear actuatrs CLA Series and CLB Series.5 ACCESSORIES SAFETY NUT Cde MS MAIN BRONZE NUT SAFETY BRONZE NUT The safety nut MS is available fr all acme screw actuatrs (CLA Series). PROTECTIVE BELLOWS Cde B The safety nut is an auxiliary brnze nut cnnected by 2 pins t the main brnze nut. The distance between the tw nuts in a new actuatr is equal t a half f the thread pitch. If the main nut wears up t a half f the thread pitch r crashes, the safety nut supprts the lad aviding its fall. The safety nut is a ne-directin device. Its psitin with respect t the main nut depends n the lad directin. The safety nut is available fr actuatrs wrking with push lad. Fr applicatins with pull lad a special design is available (cntact SERVOMECH). When the actuatrs are used in severe envirnment cnditins with cntaminant agents that can damage the seal scraper between the uter uter tube and the push rd, bellws prtectin can be useful. Bellws made f special materials fr severe envirnments are available upn request..6 SPECIAL DESIGNS Accrding t specific applicatin requirements, special designs can be carried ut n standard actuatrs. 24 ELECTRIC STROKE END SWITCHES FC 2 1 FC 1 FC POR 5k FC 2 SWITCH FOR INTERMEDIATE POSITION FC The ELECTRIC STROKE END SWITCHES FC has miniature switches FC 1 and FC 2. The switch FC can determine any intermediate psitin between Lc and La. cntact: nrmally CLOSED vltage: 250 V AC / 125 V AC / 125 V DC current: 16 A / 16 A / 0.6 A (resistive lad) 10 A / 10 A / 0.6 A (inductive lad) The RETRACTED ACTUATOR psitin is set by the adjustable cam 1. The wires that cnnect the switch FC 1 are WHITE and BROWN. The EXTENDED ACTUATOR psitin is set by the adjustable cam 2. The wires that cnnect the switch FC 2 are GREEN and YELLOW. The INTERMEDIATE psitin is set by the adjustable cam. The wires that cnnect the switch FC are BLUE and BROWN. BEFORE using the linear actuatr: verify the input shaft rtating directin and the push rd running directin; check the strke end switches psitin: they must nt exceed the extreme limit psitins; make sure that the mtr and the limit switches are crrectly cnnected and that the right vltage is used.. Linear actuatrs equipped with brake mtr: the brake is NORMALLY CLOSED (NEGATIVE actin). When the pwer supply is switched ff, the brake is engaged. The brake pens nly when pwer is supplied; if the brake is wired directly t the cnnecting pins f the terminal bx, it des nt require any pwer supply; if the brake is wired separately, make sure that the crrect vltage is used; if the brake is equipped with hand release device, make sure that the brake is engaged befre starting the linear actuatr. 4.
