Date Title Description Time and location Sat 2ndJan New Year Ramble Blow away the festive season Innovation cobwebs with a steady walk from Centre at 09.30am The Innovation Centre via old railways, canals and public footpaths. Walk length is a2 _roximately 6 miles. Sat 24th Jan The Chasewater Visit the former sites of some of Innovation Colliery Trail the Cannock Chase Colliery Centre at 10.00am (Part 1) Company mines that were in operation around Chasewater, and find out what has happened to them, how they have been developed and what wildlife is now there. Walk length is about 4 V2 miles. Sat 6th Feb Copses & Coppicing Come and have a try at some Car park off woodland management at Norton Burntwood Road, Bog! Coppice some hazel, take Norton Canes at away some walking sticks, learn 10.00am how to protect the regrowth from the deer, and help restore some neglected woodland by selected thinning and pruning. All tools provided, this is a free event and it runs from until 2.00pm and brii"!k a _r:>_acked lunch! Sat 20th Feb The Chasewater Visit more former Cannock Chase Recreation Colliery Trail Colliery Company coalmines to the Ground car park, (Part 2) North East of Chasewater and find Wimble bury more relics of a bygone age. Walk Road, Heath length is about 4 miles. Hayes, at 10.00am Sun 28th The Deer of South Come for an informative and light Innovation Feb Staffordshire hearted talk about the deer species Centre at 10.00am in the South of the county. We will cover history, ecology, life cycles and management. Light refreshments provided. The talk will take about an hour

Search through the Centre from 28th Mar trees along the south shore, crack the 1 O.OOam until clues, follow your nose and find your 15.00pm way back to claim your reward! 1 per trail sheet from the Innovation Centre. No bookinz necess~ Sat 16th Apr Beginners Photography Come for a walk with the rangers Chasewater Walk and discover some of the finest Heaths (Part 1-Spring Shots) spring photographic subjects that the Station Cafe area has to offer. Don't forget the car park at camera, whether it's big or small! 10.00am One of a series of three events. Sat 23rd Apr The Lost Mineral Lines of All aboard the old train and discover Brownhills Chasewater some of the disused railway lines that West Station at served the coal industry in and 10.00am around the Chasewater area, and try and follow their old route through the modern landscape. Approx. 6 miles. 4 per adult includes train ride. Sun 1st May Seven Parishes Stroll ] oin the rangers on a 10 mile walk Innovation starting and finishing at Chasewater, Centre at and taking in Norton Bog, Gentleshaw Common, Burntwood and Hammerwich am This includes a stop off at the local pub! The route will be a mixture of quiet lanes and footpaths Sat 7th May Where does the water go? Come and look into the strange Innovation buildings and manholes that are Centre at along the dam at Chasewater, find 09.30am out how all the machinery works, and then have a stroll down the canal to see relics of the industrial past. The walk is about 11/z miles. Sat 14th May Beginners Photography Bring your cameras and come for a End of the Walk stroll around the quieter parts of dam on Pool (Part 2-Landscapes) Chasewater, and the rangers' will Road at show you some of our hidden gems 09.30am for you to photograph!

Sat 18th The Tour de Come on a guided family bike ride Innovation June Chasewater! around Chasewater, with the option Centre at 10.00am of making it a long or short ride depending on how you feel! Either 4 miles or 9 miles, on a mixture of roads, old railways, towpaths and tracks. Sat 25th Sleepers & Skaters Pond dipping with a difference! All Brownhills West Jun aboard the old train at the station, Railway Station, then enjoy a ride through the park, Chasewater at then have a short nature walk and 10.45am then do some pond dipping at Norton Bog. Nets are available, but if you have one please bring it, along with your wellies! Numbers are limited. 4 per child. Sat 2nd Jul Birds of Prey Learn about the uses and history of Innovation Centre Day falconry in an informative at 10.00am 10am-3pm presentation, and then feed, handle and fly selection of birds. Make your own J esses and use our bird tracking equipment. 10 per adult, 4 per child. Sorry, no dogs allowed! Sat 9thJul Beginners On this final event, come and see End of the dam, Photography Walk the most colourful parts of the Pool Road at (Part 3-Summer countryside - flowers and insects am Colour) We'll try and show you the brightest flowers and biggest butterflies and the bluest parts of Chasewater to photograph! Sat 23rd BBQ on the beach Bring your bikes for a gentle Innovation Jul evening family bike ride around Centre at 17.00pm, Chasewater, and stop for a BBQ on or meet on the the beach to refuel, or if you don't beach at 17.45pm feel energetic, just come for the BBQ! Pre-payment necessary - 3 per adult, 2 per child. The bike ride is about 4 miles.

5 novation Centre Exhibitions per adult, children free unless otherwise stated Sat Sth Oct Seed Scavengers Join the Rangers on a short scaveng- Innovation ing hunt around Chasewater, and Centre at then use what you have collected to 10.00am decorate your pot and then plant some tree seeds in it to take home with you. 1 per child, drop in event from 10.00am to 1.00pm Sun 16th The Park in the Dark! See how Chasewater comes alive at End of the Oct night! Bring a torch and see what dam, Pool wildlife you can see and hear in the Road at dark. Wrap up warmly and we might 19.00pm just provide a warming drink too! The walk is about 3 miles Sat 19th Stocks & Scions Learn about the ancient art of grating Innovation Nov in this half day event and produce Centre at your own potted grafted fruit tree to 10.00am take away with you. Full training given, knives and plasters supplied too! 5 per adult. Sat 3rd Christmas Crafts Have a go at making Christmas Innovation Dec decorations from a variety of recycled Centre at and natural materials to take away 11.00am with you to hang on your tree at home.
