3 WHO ARE WE? A dedicated group of firefighters and civilians from throughout B.C. who work to offer a hand up to our brother and sister firefighters in less developed countries. All FWB Canada members volunteer their time and energy to collect equipment, educate others about our organization and deliver training when deployed in country. We are a nationally registered charity in Canada- Charity# RR0001. We formed originally as Engines For El Salvador in 2003; then became Firefighters Without Borders BC in 2008, and in 2009 we evolved into Firefighters Without Borders Canada. El Salvador- 5 deployments to date delivering 10 apparatus, over 700 sets of PPE, over 300 SCBA and several tonnes of other related equipment. While in El Salvador, we train firefighters from 6 other neighbouring countries as well. Paraguay- 4 deployments to date delivering several tonnes of PPE, SCBA and other related equipment and training. Peru- 3 deployments to date delivering 3 apparatus and several tonnes of PPE, SCBA and other related equipment and training. We also train Bomberos from Bolivia while in Peru. Panama- 1 deployment to date delivering training. Thailand- 1 deployment to date delivering F/R and AED training. We have also delivered PPE & firefighting equipment to Belize, The Congo, Mexico and The Philippines. We have received donations from over 100 Fire Departments in B.C., as well as departments in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, the Northwest Territories and several large and small National and B.C. based corporations have also donated to FWB Canada.
