APPLICATION 1.1 This permit only applies to the rowing boat trailer specified on this permit, when carrying over length rowing boats. 1.2 For the purpose of this permit, a rowing boat trailer is a trailer built specifically for carrying rowing boats and licensed as a boat trailer. 1.3 Applies to empty return travel. 2. DIMENSION LIMITS 2.1 The vehicle combination must not exceed a dimension limit specified in the 'Dimension Modifications' section of this permit. 2.2 For the purpose of this permit, forward projection is measured from the centre of the tow ball coupling. 2.3 The rear overhang (the distance between the centre of the trailer s axle or axle group and the rearmost part of the load on the trailer) must not exceed 7.2 metres. 2.4 Any portion of the rowing boat with a rear overhang in excess of 3.7 metres must not exceed a total width of 2.2 metres. 2.5 For the purpose of this permit, rear projection is measured from the rear of the main trailer body. Any extension or attachment to the rear of the trailer must fit within the allowable rear projection limit. 2.6 For the purpose of this permit rear overhang limit includes any rear projection 3. ROUTES 3.1 The vehicle combination must only travel on roads listed in RAV Network 2 or the roads specified within this permit 3.2 Despite subclause 3.1, vehicles must not travel on Kwinana Freeway, Mitchell Freeway and Graham Farmer Freeway 4. CONDITIONS 4.1 Operators must ensure the route is suitable for travel and will not cause damage to property or inconvenience to other road users. 4.2 The towing vehicle must display at least one amber flashing warning light, which must be visible at a distance of 500 metres in all directions, or must be supplemented by additional warning lights so at least one warning light is visible in all directions. Where LED lights are used a minimum of 24 watt output is required. 4.3 An Oversize sign must be displayed on the rear of the trailer and must be clearly visible to vehicles traveling behind. 4.4 Vehicles with a rear overhang exceeding 5.2 metres must not travel Monday to Friday during the following times: 7.30am 9.00am and 4.00pm 6.00pm with in the Metro region. 4.5 If the load projects more than 1.2 metres behind the trailer or forward of the tow ball coupling, it must carry a warning signal on the end of the load: (a) In daytime, the warning signal must be a brightly coloured flag, with each side at least 300 mm long. (b) At night time, the warning signal must be a red light, visible at a distance of 200 metres. Page 6 of 7 Permit

7 4.6 This permit is only valid until the 31st December 2021 and will not be renewed after this period. Following this date, all rowing boat trailers must meet the following dimension requirements, as specified in the Rowing Boat Trailer Period Permit General Access : (a) Rear Overhang: 5.2 metres; (b) Overall Length: 20 metres; (c) Forward Projection: 1.5 metres; (d) Rear Projection: 1.5 metres. Specific Conditions 1 (AV) THE OWNER OR OPERATOR IS EXEMPT FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF ACCREDITATION BY MAIN ROADS WA. Exemptions 1 A vehicle operating under this permit is exempt from Regulation 182 (1)(a) of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (Front project limit for light vehicles). 2 A vehicle operating under this permit is exempt from Regulation 182 (1)(b) of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (Front project limit for light vehicles). 3 A vehicle to which this permit applies is exempt from Regulation 174(1)(d) of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014(19m length limit) 4 A vehicle to which this permit applies is exempt from Regulation 175(3) of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (Rear overhang on single axle / axle group trailers, other than semi trailer) Page 7 of 7 Permit
