Obtain yours today at either Campus Safety office. Proof of state vehicle registration is required in order to apply for a permit. Lost and Found: Check the Campus Safety office at Fort Steilacoom (room 304, Cascade Building) or Puyallup (room A136B, Gaspard Building). Safety Escorts: Just ask. We will accompany you from campus buildings to your vehicle. Disabled Vehicle Services: Contact Campus Safety if you need a battery jump, vehicle unlocked, and for collision/vandalism investigators Basic Parking Rules The motor vehicle and other traffic laws of the State of Washington are applicable on all lands devoted to educational research, recreational, or parking activities of Pierce College. The traffic codes of Pierce County are applicable upon all lands located within Pierce county. 1) Display of Pierce College parking permits is mandatory. 2) No vehicle is to be parked on District 11 properties except in those areas set aside and designated as parking areas. 3) Disabled persons must display a valid disabled placard or license plate in order to park in Washington State disabled designated parking spaces. 4) Dental patients must have a dental pass clearly displayed in the dash of their vehicle. 5) Carpool users must have a minimum of two carpool passes, clearly displayed in the dash of their vehicle in order to park in designated carpool parking spaces. Passes can be obtained at the Campus Safety office. 6) Vehicles left unattended for over 72 hours or parked in a fire lane or posing an immediate threat and/or parked in an unauthorized area may be impounded at the owner s expense. 7) Drivers of vehicles are to obey all regulatory signs posted on the lands controlled by Pierce College. a) Unless otherwise posted, no vehicle shall be operated on campus at a speed greater than 10 miles and hour. b) Drivers shall yield the right of way to all pedestrians. c) Back in parking is prohibited. d) No vehicle shall occupy more than one space. e) No vehicles shall be parked against the flow of traffic. Ticketing The person to whom a permit is issued to, is responsible for all violations of the rules and regulations involving the vehicle for which the permit was issued. This does not relieve from responsibility other persons who violate the rules and regulations. Appeal Process In the event you receive a citation, you may appeal this ticket within five working days of receipt. Notice of intent must be given to the Campus Safety office to include a letter of appeal. If you elect to waive your right to appeal, payment of the fine shall be handled at the Cashier s Office. In the event compliance is not met, the violation shall not be eligible to register for additional courses, obtain a transcript or grades, receive financial aid payment or a college degree until compliance has been made. 4 Campus Parking Map - Fort Steilacoom & where to park your car. Directions to the college From I-5 north or southbound Follow I-5 to Gravelly Lake Exit 124. (Note: There are directional signs to the college) From north-bound I-5: turn left and go over the freeway. From south-bound I-5: turn right. At the second light (island with large "Welcome to Lakewood" sign), go left onto Gravelly Lake Drive. At the second light, turn left on Washington Blvd. (Note: Washington Blvd. will turn into Military Road). At the third light, turn right on 112th St. S. W. Take the first left (one-half block) onto Farwest Drive. Continue on Farwest Drive until you see Pierce College on the right. (Map available at: )
