2 LIQUID MODEL 840 (B)(S) Model Number 840(B)(S): 840 Base model for liquid product dispensing B Added to models supplied with a Bleach pump S Added to models supplied with a front panel pushbutton Switch Purpose The DEMA 840(B), (S) Single Product Laundry dispenser is designed to dispense liquid detergent or liquid detergent with bleach as an option. The 840 system is based on the DEMA peristaltic pump. Programming is done with a DEMA programmer. Please read all instructions before proceeding with Laundry dispenser installation. Laundry Room Survey A complete survey of the laundry room or site installation should be completed in advance of starting the Liquid Product Laundry dispenser installation. 1. Locate the power connection points on the laundry machine. This power must be between 100 and 240 volts 50/60Hz. 2. Select location to mount the Liquid Product Laundry dispenser on a wall that will allow access to the chemical product feed point on the laundry machine. The Liquid Product Laundry dispenser should be kept away from moisture releasing machinery and from water being splashed on the unit. 3. Use appropriate wall anchors when mounting the Liquid Product Laundry dispenser on drywall. Rev B /27/09 Page 2 of 11

3 LIQUID MODEL 840 (B)(S) Electrical Installation All installations must be in accordance with city, county, state parish or provincial electrical codes and be performed by a certified electrician. For questions, please contact a local licensed electrical contractor. 1. BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER, ALL ELECTRICAL POWER MUST BE TURNED OFF TO THE LAUNDRY MACHINE AND ANY OTHER CIRCUIT THAT IS TO BE USED FOR THIS INSTALLATION. LOCKOUT AND TAG PROCEDURES SHOULD BE OBSERVED WHEN INSTALLING THIS DEVICE. NEVER OPEN THE LIQUID PRODUCT LAUNDRY DISPENSER UNLESS POWER HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. SIGNALS MAY BE PRESENT FROM LAUNDRY MACHINE, EVEN WITH THE LIQUID PRODUCT LAUNDRY DISPENSER POWER TURNED OFF. ONLY USE ELECTRICAL CODE APPROVED INSULATED WIRING AND ELECTRICAL FIXTURES WITH THIS INSTALLATION. 2. Connect the power to the Liquid Product Laundry dispenser. This must be in the range of 100VAC to 240VAC. Power should be applied to Liquid Product Laundry dispenser anytime the laundry machine is on. Some laundry machines have a terminal block setup for power. See the schematic or owner s manual for the specific machine being used. Locate the power terminal block inside the Liquid Product Laundry dispenser s enclosure. Connect the brown or black wire, in the power cable, to the LINE terminal. Connect the blue or white wire, in the power cable, to the RETURN terminal.. Connect the yellow/green or green wire, in the power cable, to the GROUND terminal or machine grounding point. The power line must be secured properly between the laundry machine or power source and the Liquid Product Laundry dispenser such that it does not put stress on the Liquid Product Laundry dispenser. Programming All programming is done from the front of the dispenser using a DEMA Two Button Programmer. During programming all program modes will be active, i.e. detergent will dispense during programming. Step 1: Apply power. Step 2: Connect the two button programmer. Rev B /27/09 Page 3 of 11

4 LIQUID MODEL 840 (B)(S) Step 3: Push either button on the programmer to toggle the LED to the desired mode as shown in Figure 1.1 and 1.2. See below for the program mode. Figure1.1 Figure1.2 Step 4: Push both buttons, simultaneously, to start program time and both buttons to stop program time as shown in Figure 1.3. Figure 1.3 Step 5: Repeat steps 3 & 4 for all program modes. Step 6: Toggle to the Ready Green LED when programming is completed. Step 7: Remove the Two Button Programmer. Rev B /27/09 Page 4 of 11

6 Operation The dispenser sequence operates as shown below. Dispensers with an S suffix may be triggered with the front panel pushbutton switch. Pushing the button will immediately start the Pre-Flush time. The Delay time will be omitted. If the button is pushed while the dispenser is running the outputs will be turned off and the dispenser will go directly to Lockout. The full Lockout time will run. The button has no effect during Lockout. Dispensers without an S suffix require accessories to provide a trigger. A remote pushbutton switch kit 83-R1 or a flux sensor kit may be used to provide a trigger. Priming Priming buttons are provided for the peristaltic pumps. These may be found on the front of the dispenser. They are hidden behind round black plastic covers to prevent unintentional priming. Snap the cover open. Use a screwdriver and press the button. The pump will run as long as the button is held. Page 6 of 11

11 PROGRAMMER Return Policy No merchandise may be returned for credit without DEMA Engineering Company s written permission. Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number required in advance of return. Warranty DEMA products are warranted against defective material and workmanship under normal use and service for one year from the date of manufacture. This limited warranty does not apply to any products that have a normal life shorter than one year or failure and damage caused by chemicals, corrosion, improper voltage supply, physical abuse or misapplication. Rubber and synthetic rubber parts such as O -rings, diaphragms, squeeze tubing and gaskets are considered expendable and are not covered under warranty. This warranty is extended only to the original buyer of DEMA products. If products are altered or repaired without prior approval of DEMA, this warranty will be void. Defective units or parts should be returned to the factory with transportation prepaid. If inspection shows them to be defective, they will be repaired or replaced without charge. F.O.B. factory DEMA assumes no liability for damages. Return merchandise authorization number to return units for repair or replacement must be granted in advance of return. Page 11 of 11
