Changes in equipment, new lens designs, lens materials and slippery AR coatings present many new problems. At Precision Tool Technologies we are committed to developing new products to provide you with solutions to save you time and money. The cost of redoing a job is at an all time high. Testing and checking production methods is more important than ever before due to higher

2 production and lens costs. The common misconception of what a mistake really costs and how managers should approach this subject is that a mistake costs a minimum of 4-times the cost of a job. When a mistake occurs, the original cost (X1), is the first cost. The job must be started again resulting in the second cost (X2). What is most often over looked is the third cost (X3), the opportunity lost. Had the part been produced right the first time, the lab should be producing the next job and making a profit on that job. The rework time, if excessive may result in the loss of a customer which is largest and final (X4) cost. Precision Tool Technologies offers solutions for the following problems; Sizing Slip/Twist Scratches/Crazing Power Prism Sizing: Our new Truform Tracer Standard's offers many improvements to the tracing and edging process. The Truform standard will allow you to validate tracer dimensions and axis. Keeping it simple, the Truform Standard is used to synchronize your tracers and edgers to maintain accuracy. Documented certification our of our Truform Standards is provided by using our Zeiss Accura CMM with micron accuracy.

4 Slip/Twist: Our "Design Fit Technology" is a vast improvement over OEM equipment. The same geometry that we have implemented into our

5 edge blocks is engineered into our chucks, and backside clamps. Even pressure on the lenses is critical in the edging process and by using all our products together you will achieve great results. We are receiving astonishing feed back from labs since adding the back side clamp to their edgers. We are consistently hearing of reduced slips/twists, reduced crazing and eliminating the need of Ricky pads, which will save you time and money. 6 Scratches/Crazing: The majority of scratches on the lens are caused by handling issues. Addressing handling methods is crucial to a scratch free laboratory. The LZFII-1 safely removes edging blocks from the lenses without scratching due to less handling. The TWIST ACTION of the LZF II prevents flexing the AR coated lenses reducing crazing problems. Soon to be introduced will be our LZFIII-1, which is an automatic single lens deblocker that provides all the same great features of the LZFII-1 in a smaller footprint. Now available with a foot pedal kit option for actuating the twist motion. LZFII-1 Return On Investment Analysis With breakage dollars averaging around 2% of sales dollars, the opportunity to reduce breakage is greater than ever. The following cost analysis is based on labor savings and reduction of breakage

7 (scratching and crazing of lenses) using the LZFII-1 automatic deblocker. Labor Savings Manual 90 jobs an hour at $15.00 per hour = $0.17 labor per job.
