2 CQB(F) series pump is a kind of magnetically coupled pumps, or magnetic drive pumps, vary from the traditional pumping style, as the motor is coupled to the pump by magnetic means rather than by a direct mechanical shaft. The pump works via a drive magnet, 'driving' the pump rotor, which is magnetically coupled to the primary shaft driven by the motor. They are often used where leakage of the fluid pumped poses a great risk (e.g., aggressive fluid in the chemical or nuclear industry, or electric shock garden fountains). They have no direct connection between the motor shaft and the impeller, so no gland is needed. There is no risk of leakage, unless the casing is broken. Production summary The magnetic driving pump is a new product applying the working principle of permanent magnet coupling to the centrifugal pump. It features reasonable design, advanced technology, fuii seal, zero leakage and corrosion resistance. The magnetic pump substitutes the static seal for dynamic seal so that the wet part components of the pump are in a state of fuii seal which has thoroughly eliminated pump shaft seal. 14 Installation and operation 1.The magnetic pump should be instaiied horizontally. It is not suitable to be vertical. The plastic pump body should not bear the weight of the pipeline. On the occasion of special requirement for vertical installation. the engine must be upward. 2. When the suction liquid IeveI is higher than the pump axial lead, just open the suction pipe valve before the operation. lf the suction Iiquid IeveI is lower than the pump axial Iead, SIKO the pipeline should PUMP be provided with the bottom valve. 3. It is necessary to check the pump before use. The motor fan blades should rotate flexibly. There is no locking or abnormal noise and all fasteners should be attached firmly. 4. Check whether the rotation direction of the motor, to conform to the direction indication on the magnetic driving pump. 5. After the engine is started, open the discharge valve slowly. When the pump is in normal operation, adjust the discharge valve to the required opening level. 6. Before the pump stops the operation, it is necessary to close the valve of the discharge and then close the valve of the suction. Warning: The pump motor should be earthed effectively and safely by professional personnel. Note for use(important) 1. Because the cooiing and Iubrication of the bearing of the magnetic pump rely on the conveyed liquid, the dry running should be prohibited absolutely. lt is also necessary to avoid the dry running caused by the re-operation after the power failure during operation. 2. If the delivery liquid contains solid particles, the pump inlet should be provided with an additional strainer; in case of ferromagnetic substance particles, a magnetic fitter should be provided 3.The ambient temperature for the pump during operation should be lower than 40 and the temperature rise of the motor should not exceed The delivery medium and its temperature should be within the allowable range of pump materials(see the table for corrosion-proof performance of pump material). for engineering plastic pump, the working temperature should be less than60, with suction pressure not bigger than 0.1 MPa and maximum working pressure not bigger than 0.6Mpa. for metal pump the working temperature should be less than 80 ;for SIKO air-cooled high PUMP temperature pump, the working temperature is less than 180 ; and for water circulating high temperature pump, the working temperature is less than 280, with suction pressure not higher than 0.2Mpa and maximum working pressure not bigger than 1.6Mpa. density not Iarger than 1600kg/m3 transporting the Liquid containing go hard grains and fibers and granularity not Iarger than 30*10-6 m2/s 5. If the transportation Iiquid is medium easily generating crystal sediment, lt is necessary to wash the pump just after using, to clean away the deposited Iiquid in the pump. 6. After the magnetic pump operates for 500 hours, lt is necessary to disassemble and check the abrasion condition of the bearing and the rotating seai ring on the end surface. SIKO If the clearance between PUMP the bearing and the bearing bush is Iarger than 0 5-1mm and the axial floating of the impeiier is within 1.5-2mm. lt is necessary to change the bearing and the axial rotating seal ring. Note:During disassembling and installation, the magnetic field radiated by the internal and external magnetic steel components wiii cause magnetic field interference and even have a hazardous effect or such articles, such as credit cards, computer disks, watches and so on. --- Chemical Handing Pump Solutions Page 13

15 Trouble shooting Motor will not rotate when system is turned on. 1.Ensure that motor is connected to power supply and that supply switch is installed properly. 2.Inspect motor to ensure that is it is operating condition and does not require service. 3.Ensure that the power lines have been properly connected for the supply voltage and Hz. Motor is turning but no fluid is moving. 1.Check to make sure that all fluid port plugs were removed before connection to the system. 2.Check SIKO alignment of the PUMP outer magnet to the inner magnet to ensure proper engagement. 3.Check positioning of the pump with regard to the source fluid. Check to make sure that the pump is capable of drawing in process fluid and readjust pump placement if necessary. 4.Check to make sure that inlet and outlet isolation and system valves are in the full open position. 5.Confirm that the pump impeller has been trimmed to the proper diameter for the viscosity and specific gravity of the fluid being pumped. 6.Ensure that no debris has been lodged in the pump impeller. 7.Inspect the shaft, bushing and impeller for damage and alignment. 8.Inspect the pump rotation to insure the pump has been wired correctly. 9.Recheck the process fluid characteristics for viscosity, specific gravity, temperature and solids. Check that pump has not decoupled due to high specific gravity or viscosity. Process fluid is leaking from the pump head. 1.Immediately turn off the pump 2. Inspect the pump housing, o-rings, flanges and impeller housing for damage or wear. Replace as necessary. 3.Confirm SIKO the fasteners have PUMP been torqued to the correct specification. 4.Confirm that the process fluid is compatible with the pump liquid end components and make changes as necessary. Flow rate is ABOVE the specified flow for the application. 1.Confirm the system total dynamic head conditions have not changed from the specified values. 2.Confirm the process fluid is the same temperature, viscosity and specific gravity as the system specified. 3.Confirm that the pump impeller has been trimmed to the proper dimension as required for the application. 4.Confirm that the pump horsepower meets the system conditions. 5.Confirm that the Hz rating for the motor is correct (50 Hz will turn at a slower RPM than 60 Hz) 6.Confirm that the system valves have been positioned correctly flow condition Flow rate is BELOW the specified flow for the application. 1.Confirm the system total dynamic head conditions have not changed from the specified values. 2.Confirm the process fluid is the same temperature, viscosity and specific gravity as the system specified. 3.Confirm that the pump impeller has been trimmed to the proper dimension as required for the application. 4.Confirm that the pump horsepower meets the system conditions. 5.Confirm that the Hz rating for the motor is correct (50 Hz will turn at a slower RPM than 60 Hz) 6.Confirm that the system valves have been positioned correctly flow condition.
