3 1.1 General Information General 1. 3WH-36 Hi Form composite steel deck is manfactred from galvanized steel ASTM A653 SS grade 50 or bare steel ASTM A1008 SS grade The conete slab depths noted in the tables are measred from the bottom of deck to the top of conete. 3. Sperimposed load is the load that can be applied to the composite deck in addition to the weight of the steel deck and conete. 4. The vertical load span is the clear span between spporting members. 5. No niform service load, based on an L/360 deflection limit, is shown when the load is greater than the allowable sperimposed load. 6. Shoring spans are based on the reqirements of ANSI/ SDI C-2011 which incldes the weight of the deck, conete, and kpa niform constrction load or 2.2 kn/m line load at mid span. The theoretical deflection is limited to L/180, bt not to exceed 19mm. 7. For composite steel deck assemblies that exceed the scope of the table, the performance may be determined in accordance with ANSI/SDI C a. For 3WH-36 Hi Form, the embossment shape is Type II with an embossment factor, K = 1.0, reference Eq. The minimm 28-day compressive strength for strctral conete mst be 3,000 psi (20.68 MPa). The appropriate conete density (normal weight or strctral lightweight) is indicated in the tables. 2. The minimm reinforcing may be provided by reinforcing steel, welded wire fabric, or fibers in accordance with the following: a. Minimm steel reinforcing shall be eqal to times the area of the conete above the steel deck bt not less than 152mm x 152mm MW9 x MW9 welded wire fabric with a 414 mpa minimm tensile strength. b. Conete fibers in accordance with ANSI/SDI C-2011 section 13.a.1 or 13.a.2. Diaphragm Shear of Composite Decks Attachment with Arc Spot Welds, Power Actated Fasteners, or self drilling sews. 1. Deck attached to spports perpendiclar to the fltes of the deck shall be per the pattern shown in the tables. 2. Deck attached to spports rnning parallel with the fltes shall be attached to transfer the shear between the deck and the spporting member sing arc spot welds, power actated fasteners, or self drilling sews. a. Spacing of welds or fasteners transferring shear between the composite steel deck and spporting strctres shall be based on the shear demand and the weld or fastener shear resistance. fastener spacing (m) = weld or fastener capacity (kn) / shear demand (kn/m) b. Resistance and safety factors for diaphragm shear, f = 0.5 and W = 3.25 respectively. c. Factored composite diaphragm shear may be converted to allowable diaphragm shears as follows by dividing the factored diaphragm shear by S a = fs /(fw) d. Spacing of welds or fasteners rnning parallel with the deck shall not exceed 914mm on center. 3. Welds and fasteners to the spports shall be as follows: a. The minimm side seam attachment is a btton pnch at 914mm on center. 2. Arc top seam welds, or self drilling sews may be sbstitted on a one-to-one basis for btton pnches. Diaphragm shear with welded shear stds 1. Conete shear reinforcing steel mst be provided that meets the minimm specified reinforcing area, A s, in the table based on sggested welded wire reinforcing size. Reinforcing steel shall have minimm yield strength of 414 mpa and meet the reqirements of ACI 318 for standard reinforcing bars or WRI standard welded wire reinforcement. 2. To achieve tablated diaphragm shears, the welded std shear connectors are only reqired at locations in which diaphragm shear is being transferred between the composite deck slab and spporting members. Intermediate spport members may be attached with welds, sews, or PAF s (power actated fasteners) 3. Intermediate ribs of the steel deck not attached with welded std shear connectors shall be fastened to the spporting member with arc spot welds, self drilling sews or power actated fasteners. 4. The welded std shear connector strength assmes the weak position in the deck flte. Reference AISC Commentary and Figre C-I Tablar vales for shear strength of conete diaphragm above deck is in accordance with ACI 318 based on a resistance factor Φ = See ACI 318 section for additional reqirements to be considered in seismic design. 6. The welded std shear connector mst extend 38mm above the top of the steel deck and mst have a minimm of 13mm conete cover above the top of the installed welded std shear connector. Reference AISC Section I3.2c(b). 7. The spporting member flange shall not be less than 7.6mm inches thick nless the welded std shear connector is welded over the web of the spporting member. Reference AISC I3.2d(6) 8. The maximm center-to-center spacing of welded std shear connector shall not exceed 8 times the depth of conete above the deck or 914mm per AISC Section I3.2d(6). 9. Conete reinforcement details shall be in accordance with ACI For local shear transfer in the field of the diaphragm, 19mm diameter welded std shear connectors shall be determined in accordance with AISC The following shear capacities are for 51mm of conete cover above the steel deck and may be sed conservatively for all thicknesses greater than 51mm: Conete Type 2320 kg/m 3 Normal Weight Conete 1760 kg/m 3 Light Weight Conete Allowable 12. For diaphragm shear of composite steel deck assemblies attached with welded shear stds that exceed the scope of the tables, the diaphragm shear may be determined in accordance with the provision of ACI 318 and AISC as follows. a. The diaphragm shear shall be the lesser of the capacity of the reinforced conete and the capacity of the welded shear stds to transfer the shear from the spporting member to the reinforced conete section. b. Reinforced conete shear shall be determined in accordance with the reqirements of ACI 318 sing the conete thickness above the steel deck. c. The welded shear std strength shall be determined in accordance with AISC

9 1.4 Flashings Flashings. Galvanized steel flashings are cstom manfactred by Steel Masters International (ME) FZE. to meet the project reqirements. The flashings are formed from ASTM A653 SS Grade 33 galvanized steel sheet. Flashings are available in most common strctral shapes in 7 gages. (Figre and ). The standard length is 3048mm, shorter lengths available pon reqest. The minimm width of any stiffener or flat oss section width is 19mm. Channels, Hats, and Cee s web mst be 19mm wider than the flange width, see figres below. 11 1.6 Accessories Steel Masters International (ME) FZE. offers a variety of accessories to complement or steel deck offer. These inclde flashings, smp pans, weld washers, and profile ct top (small void) and bottom (large void) neoprene foam and galvanized steel closres. When accessories are called for in the specifications, the location mst be clearly shown on the strctral and architectral drawings. Specifications that call for the se of profile ct closres where walls meet the metal deck may lead to nnecessary constrction costs if they are only needed at exterior walls or specific interior locations. Profile Ct Neoprene Closres. Neoprene closres may be sed on the top and bottom of the steel deck to redce vapor, moistre, and air from infiltrating into the bilding or roof assembly. These are die-ct from black closed cell neoprene foam. The foam is manfactred in accordance with ASTM D-1056 and passes the FM VSS No. 302, UL 94HBF, and UL 94 HF1 flammability tests. Profile Ct Metal Closres. Metal closres may be sed to control animal nesting within the bilding strctre. Metal closres may be sed in combination with neoprene closres. Metal closres with calking can also be sed to redce noise infiltration as part of an acostically engineered system.
