We accommodate all of your wishes We are wrapping experts and specialise in manufacturing a diverse range of mouldings and profiles. Of course, we are happy to implement your individual requests. Our flexible production processes let us start manufacturing your custom profiles or surface decors for minimum orders of 1,000 running metres. The possibilities of digital printing With more than 400 decor foils in storage and a large range of veneers, we are certain to find the right surface style for you. Should we not be able to find the perfect fit right away, then we can easily duplicate your desired decor. We complement the well-known offset printing technology with the significantly more flexible digital printing method. This lets us display actual floor decors as well as fantasy decors, corporate logos and other images and graphics on the moulding. 7 ABOUT US TIPS AND TRICKS Fixing clips If you want to run cables behind the skirting boards or you want to avoid taping them off when painting, we recommend using our special fixing clips custom-made for our skirting. The clips are screwed directly onto the wall and the moulding is simply mounted on top. This invisible installation method keeps the skirting permanently in place, even on slightly rough or uneven walls. At the same time, the skirting can be removed without damage. Tip: Use two clips where the skirting boards meet: One at the end of a board and one at the beginning of the next one. That way they stay perfectly attached to the wall. Using glue Installing skirting boards Different situations require different installation methods. If you are looking for a very quick and simple solution, you can glue the skirting directly to the wall using solvent-free construction adhesive. In order to avoid large gaps, this method requires absolutely straight walls. Glued skirting can usually not be removed without damaging the walls. To glue the skirting, apply the adhesive in a line on the back of the skirting board, set it on the floor and then press it hard against the wall. A special groove at the back of the skirting board traps any excess glue so that none will leak from behind the skirting. Using nails You can attach the skirting with steel nails if the walls show stronger irregularities. Please note that this method is not suitable for extremely hard walls. You can save time by using a nail gun. You can fill the small holes on the front of the skirting with suitably tinted soft repair wax when you are done with the installation. You will find coloured nails to match your skirting in specialised stores. Tip: To avoid nails splitting the wood, slightly blunt the tip of the nails with your hammer before use. TIPS AND TRICKS Using screws Should you have rough or uneven walls or floors, please use screws to fasten the skirting to your walls, which will leave visible marks. You need to drill and possibly countersink pilot holes that fit your screw size. After installation, you can cover the tops of the screws with coloured plastic caps. Otherwise, you can use lenticular flange screws for installation. Tip: We recommend using 6 mm anchors and 3.5 mm screws to ensure stable installation. 7

8 TIPS AND TRICKS ABOUT US Paintable moulding As little or as much as you like Universal angle moulding Easily transform angle moulding to foldable moulding Both our moulding with primer foil and our foil wrapped glacier white moulding come with special added value. We can varnish it with solvent-free paint and design it according to your wishes, if you want. No priming required. Walls and ceilings in attics rarely meet at a right angle. Hiding these transitions, especially where a dormer roof meets its side walls, can cause problems. We recommend our MDF angle moulding for these kinds of uses. They have a 90 -degree angle, but can easily be converted to flexible, foldable moulding. Simply apply gentle pressure to the sides, pushing your hands together. Solid timber moulding Wrapped on all four sides and with a broad range of uses Corners Installing skirting boards without mitre joints Picture frames, trays, side tables, towel rails, pin boards or doll houses you can be as creative as you want with our solid timber moulding. The solid wood pine moulding is wrapped on all four sides with white strong foil. It can easily be cut to the desired length and the ends varnished with solvent-free paint. Our corners let you create eye-catching styles. They also make imprecise and annoying mitre joints unnecessary. The corners come in various matching decors and can be used both as internal or external corners and as end caps. Simply glue the corners onto the ends of the skirting boards using construction or wood adhesive. Tip: If desired, the corners can be shortened with a saw to make the perfect fit for the skirting. Skirting board with acoustic sealing Reduces the transmission of sound between walls and floors Skirting normally transmits sound directly between the floor and the walls, thus transferring noise into neighbouring rooms. To keep rooms quiet, some of our skirting boards can come equipped with acoustic sealing tape (Vito tape). The tape also fills uneven spots in the floor and prevents moisture from entering. 8

9 ABOUT US TIPS AND TRICKS Running cables through your home Hidden and tidy MDF or solid wood Why what s inside matters Almost all of our skirting boards offer sufficiently large rebates at the bottom to quickly and invisibly run various cables (such as speaker, network or aerial wiring) through your living space. The wiring can emerge from the skirting board through exit points at any desired spot. We recommend that you use a sufficiently large drill or jigsaw to create the exit points. Tip: Skirting boards installed with fixing clips can always be removed without damaging your walls. On top of that, your cables will not be accidentally damaged by nails or screws. Our skirting boards can be made of various base materials. Many of our moulding types come as finger joint or one-piece softwood as well as MDF. MDF MDF is essentially made of fine softwood fibres that are combined with a binder and pressed into boards. Thanks to the board s homogeneous structure, it displays uniform swelling properties and consistent dimensional stability. The MDF we use also conforms to the E1 emission class standards. Compared to solid wood moulding, MDF moulding is much more flexible and especially suited for uneven walls. But its fine wood fibre structure means that it is relatively susceptible to moisture and shows increased swelling in high-humidity settings. Uneven walls A small effort for a great impact Gaps between the wall and the skirting are unavoidable when walls are strongly uneven. In these cases, we recommend filling the gap with acrylic putty and smoothing it with a small rubber putty knife. Acrylic putty is available in a wide range of colours and can be customised to the colour of the wall or skirting board. Softwood We use mainly closed-grain pine as a base material for our softwood moulding. The almost knot-free solid wood is ideal for painted surfaces and also boasts good dimensional stability. Compared to MDF, solid wood moulding is significantly more stable and shows better swelling properties (moisture is absorbed more slowly). Because of the natural growth of the wood, deviations in tension throughout the timber cannot be avoided. Softwood finger joint In contrast to one-piece solid wood, finger joint base material is put together from several sections of lumber. Special wedgeshaped fingers are cut into the ends of the lumber. The sections are then joined to form-fitting endless lengths of timber with the help of adhesives. This procedure makes the material less prone to warping than one-piece softwood. The surface is virtually knot-free, making it ideal for decor foil wraps. The shorter pieces of wood mean that slightly uneven swelling can occur. 9
