3 2017 Volunteer Process From Applicant to AIC , To become an approved applicant an individual must complete and pass all prerequisites, which include: DMV record check, criminal history background check, physical exam, and online classes. After becoming approved the applicant is eligible to register for the Basic Life Support (BLS) Academy; upon passing the BLS Academy the student takes their Psychomotor and National Registry Exams. After passing their exams, the student becomes an Intern. At this point the student completes their ride along hours and is released as an Attendant-In-Charge (AIC). 3
