2 W.S.H.G.A. ALFALFA VARIETY TRIALS at Pasco & Othello, Washington Washington State University (WSU) has conducted alfalfa variety yield trials for many years at the Prosser Experiment Station and occasionally at the Othello and Royal Slope Experiment stations. The Washington State Hay Growers Association (WSHGA) in cooperation with WSU have started alfalfa variety yield trials in Pasco and Othello, Washington. Private seed companies are paying to have their varieties tested in areas other than at the WSU Prosser Experiment Station. Trials were seeded in 1996, 1997, 1998 and The WSHGA has arranged for WSU to manage and harvest these trials. Trials will again be seeded in 2000 at Pasco and Othello. Dormancy and Pest Resistance Ratings For dormancy ratings, disease and insect resistance ratings, and marketers who sell alfalfa varieties, use the Alfalfa Council s 1999/2000 Fall Dormancy and Pest Resistance Ratings for Alfalfa Varieties.
