Built for comfort on the road and capability on the track the big Nissan benefitted from a few modifications, including quality ARB 4X4 accessories that you would expect to find featured on most good 4X4 touring trucks. A capable, reliable and comfortable 4X4 touring vehicle was the goal Beginning with the basics, we ll take you through the modifications that have made this such a great touring vehicle. Good rubber on alloy rims with Staun internal deadlocks allow the tyres to be run on low pressures without the tyre falling off the rims. Although this 4x4 Tourer has mud tyres fitted to deadlock rims, just fitting good mud tyres on existing rims should be considered the first step towards making your 4WD a fully capable 4x4 Tourer. To make the most of tyre traction and the give greater ground clearance the 4x4 Tourer has be lifted 2 inches with ARB OME aftermarket coil springs and shocks matched to the vehicle and its intended use (load, tracks, comfort -ride). Vehicle suspension is a complex subject and often two vehicles, even of the same brand, can need very different suspension configurations. Attention to detail is needed to configure suspension particular for your vehicle, such factors as weight of the fully loaded vehicle, time spent off-road versus on-road and mudtyre size all have a dramatic impact on the resulting road-handling characteristics and safety of your vehicle. The first step in identifying the right suspension kit for your specific vehicle is working through a formula spreadsheet with the above mentioned factors to determine what geometry adjustments are needed to achieve the right ride and avoid vibration by realigning a vehicle s suspension arms using castorcorrection bushes and re-setting brake lines, loadsensors, steering linkages and sway bar links. Protection bars (front, side & back) look after all vulnerable areas on this 4x4 Tourer vehicle, including an ABR Winch Bar with the versatility of an integrated electric winch. Front bars or bullbars provide better approach angles over the existing bumper, are a stronger defence against knocks and offer an effective mount for radio aerials, driving lights and winches. Side bars or rock sliders replace the vehicle's running boards and provide insurance against damaging your vehicle's sills or panels. Rear bars provide better departure angles, save the corners of your vehicle from damage and offer an effective mount for carrying an oversized spare wheel (especially useful when upgrading to larger/ heavier mud tyres). The first step in protecting for vehicle is typically a front mounted protection bar essential for protecting vulnerable engine components and mounting 4x4 accessories. The 4x4 Tourer has fitted a front ARB Air Locker and along with the rear factory locker means it can be slowly extracted Page 3 from sticky situations, typically easier on a 4WD vehicle than being forced to use a heavy boot instead. Swapping out your vehicle's factory open or LSD diffs for ARB air lockers will likely be one of the most satisfying upgrades you can invest in for your vehicle. It will let your vehicle get to places you wouldn't normally think of attempting before and you'll find that With an Air Locker, simply flip a switch to lock both wheels together and you move on - it s as simple as that the snatch and winch straps are collecting dust in the back of your vehicle. With this added traction you'll find you need less 'noise' from an heavy accelerator to get through tough tracks, saving abuse on your engine and drive-chain components. ARB air lockers are designed for use with specific vehicle models and are often thought of as being one of best investments in improving a vehicles off-road ability while reducing the need for damaging high- RPM recovery manoeuvres. The addition of a winch completes for this 4x4 Tourer what is a formidable selfrecovery capability, and goes a long way to providing the driver with many alternatives to navigating rough terrain. A good knowledge of the dynamics between winch pulling power, vehicle weight and anchor points is the key to a speedy recovery. Matching the right winch model to your vehicle and fitting it correctly to ensure its safe operation is key when it comes to the shear forces involved in vehicle pulling stresses. The last thing you need in a diesel engine is water it will most likely damage the engine All our air snorkels are designed for specific vehicle models and relocate the air intake out of harm's way, with an added benefit of increasing the engine performance and fuel economy as a result of cleaner air from having its position raised. The first step in determining whether you need a snorkel is to look at the potential for you to ingress water into your engine through stream or water-hole crossings cheap insurance if you own a diesel. This 4x4 Tourer uses an air compressor to pump the tyres back-up to road pressures at the end of a trip. It's always best to train and practise use of these tools in a safe setting, say through one of the many public training days offered by the regional 4x4 clubs.
