12 BG 11 H Cofiguratios The BG 11 H ValueLie is a compact drillig rig which easily ca be modified for various applicatios: Stadard cofiguratio Typical basic cofiguratio for stadard ucased bored pilig operatios i Kelly mode. It rages to drillig depths of 40 m (130 ft) with 4-part lockable Kelly bar ad for borehoile diameters up to 1,200 mm (3.9 ft). A optioal casig drive adapter allows the istallatio of temporary casigs with a maximum sectio legth of 2.5 m (8.2 ft). Rathole drill cofiguratio Special cofiguratio for the costructio of preparatory boreholes whe costructig oil ad gas wells. The BG 11 H ValueLie ca costruct short cellar holes with big diameter up to 3 m (10 ft), followed by drillig coductor holes, ratholes ad mouseholes. Special attetio was give to the possibility of reducig the trasport weight to a miimum of 34.0 t (74,960 lbs) by usig a specially desiged multi-piece, removable couterweight. 15 Prior to commecig the rig-up process of deep drillig plat for the costructio of oil or gas wells, it is geerally ecessary to drill several preparatory boreholes. The BG 11 H is ideally suited for these operatios: Compact dimesios ad weight for fast ad easy trasport Rapid riggig ad deriggig Simple chagig of drillig tools Typical types of preparatory boreholes are: Cellar Drillig The iitial hole is called the cellar ad is m (5 10 ft) wide ad m (5 10 ft) deep. It is used to capture drillig fluids durig the drillig process ad to accommodate the blowout preveter. Coductor Drillig A secod hole is the drilled with a diameter of mm (2 2.6 ft) from the ceter of the cellar to a depth of up to 40 m (130 ft) depedig o the local geology to accommodate the coductor. The coductor is the guide or starter hole used by the large rig to do its drillig. Rathole ad Mousehole Drillig Aother two holes, called the mousehole ad rathole, are typically drilled to accommodate the larger rig s operatio. The mousehole is used to hold the ext stem of drill pipe durig the drillig process, while the rathole is used to store the Kelly bar whe the drill pipe is beig hoisted out of the hole.
