The lock has been bent out of shape and there are scratches on the door. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Theft of Pedal Cycle On 11/01/2016 between 1400hrs and 1420hrs suspect unknown have removed an insecure pedal cycle from Bank Street, Braintree. The cycle is described as an Indi Kaisa womens mountain bike, blue grey and white. Valued at 130. Criminal Damage Overnight on 10/01/2016 in Nowell Close Braintree, suspect unknown has caused damage to the nearside front door of a Brown Vauxhall Insignia, by scratching it deeply. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800

2 Theft of Pedal Cycle On 14/01/2016 at around 1615hrs on Challis Lane, Braintree an insecure pedal cycle was removed from the front garden of a property. The bike is described as a black mountain bike with white writing on and is valued at 150. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Witham Attempt Between 09/01/2016 and 11/ suspect unknown has attempted to gain entry to premises on Stepfields Witham by attempting to open the main door to the office using a key which does not fit the lock. The key has broken off inside the lock. No entry was gained. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Theft from a Motor Vehicle On 15/01/2016 between 0845hrs and 1030hrs on Anglia Way Braintree, suspects unknown have entered a white Peugeot van by damaging the offside door lock. Once entry was gained suspects have removed various tools and cash from within. Theft from Motor Vehicle Overnight on the 11/01/2016 on Medway Avenue, Witham, suspects unknown have drilled a hole to the underneath of a Silver Ford Galaxy into the fuel tank and have syphoned off the petrol. Another Ford Galaxy was also targeted in Colne Chase, Witham and 20 worth of petrol was removed in the same way. Attempted Burglary Dwelling On 15/01/2016 between 1100hrs and 1555hrs on Panfield Lane Braintree, suspects unknown have attempted to gain entry to a property by trying to force open a rear UPVC window, causing the outer pane of glass to smash. No entry was gained and nothing removed. Theft from Motor Vehicle On 12/01/2016 at around 0140hrs suspect unknown have smashed the driver s side window of a Black Skoda Octavia and stolen a bag containing about 15 worth of change. Vehicle was parked on St. Marys Road, Rivenhall, Witham. Suspect were seen getting into an E registration car and drive off, there are no further details of the suspect or vehicle.

3 . Theft of Motor Vehicle On 12/01/2016 at 0242hrs suspects unknown have removed a Yamaha WR 125X from Snowdrop Close, Witham. Suspects kicked the vehicle, breaking the steering lock and wheeled it away. On 14/01/2016 between 1230hrs and 2300hrs suspects unknown have removed a 125 blue fairing black sheep pit bike from a shed in Forest Road, Witham. The bike had a red back wheel and a silver front wheel and is valued at 200. Theft from a Motor Vehicle Overnight on 14/01/2016 suspects unknown have broken in to a Ford Transit Van, parked in Wickham Road Witham. Once inside suspects have removed a large amount of plumbers tools including Makita and Dewalt Drills. Theft from a Motor Vehicle Overnight on 14/01/2016 near to Ratcliff Court Kelvedon, suspects unknown have gained entry to a vehicle and removed tools from inside. 4 call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Halstead Between 10/01/2016 and 11/01/2016 Suspects unknown have gained access to premises in Sturmer Road, Steeple Bumpstead, by forcing open a door. Once inside, they have removed various items although at this time it is not known what is taken. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Between 08/01/2016 and 11/01/2016 suspects unknown have pulled a metal sheet front door from the runners to gain entry to a garage in Hyde Wood Road, Little Yeldham, Halstead. Once inside the premises the suspect has removed tools from within. The suspect has attempted to open the garage safe. Exact quantities and values not known at this stage. 5 On 11/01/2016 between 0400hrs and 0415hrs suspect unknown has attempted to break in to a Recreation Club on Halstead Road, Earls Colne, by forcing wooden shutters on the rear door. The alarm activated and the suspect made off. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Uttlesford North Theft From Motor Vehicle Between 1900hrrs on 14/01/2016 and 1730hrs on 15/01/2016 suspect unknown has entered a Silver Fiat Scudo vehicle by removing the barrel lock on drivers side sliding door. The suspect has entered the vehicle and removed four drills and a gas analyser to the total value of Criminal Damage Overnight on 14/01/2016 suspect unknown has attempted to gain access to a property of Swan Street, Sible Hedingham by jemmying the rear wooden door. No entry was gained and nothing was stolen. Between 23/12/2015 and 10/01/2016 at an allotment shed in Windmill Hill, Saffron Walden, suspects unknown have broken into the victims allotment shed and removed the following items. A Makita Strimmer, McAllister Lawn Mower, a pruning knife and various other garden tools. Between 1000hrs on 10/01/2016 and 2100hrs on 11/01/2016 at and address off Jacksons Lane, Great Chesterford, suspects have forced entry into garage by snapping two padlocks and forcing back door causing damage valued at 310. 6 Between 1830hrs on 07/01/2016 and 0600hrs on 08/01/2016 on the High Street Newport, suspects have scratched the passenger side of Toyota Rav 4 with a sharp instrument causing damage. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Uttlesford South Theft From Motor Vehicle Between 1500hrs on 9/01/2016 and 1200hrs on 10/01/2016 in Newell Road Stansted, suspects have gained entry to a White Seat Ibiza by unknown means and removed the built in satellite navigation system. Theft From Motor Vehicle Theft From Motor Vehicle Between 1600hrs 10/01/2016 and 1015hrs on 11/01/2016 at The Heath, Hatfield Heath, Suspects have removed the front and rear number plates from a Black Peugeot Attempted Other Burglary At 1815hrs on 11/01/2016 at an address in Causeway End Road, Felstead, suspects have jemmied the hasp from the wall and opened a detached garage door which has activated an audible alarm and causing the suspects to flee.

7 Between 0800hrs on 11/01/2016 and 0900hrs on 12/01/2016 at Flitch Industrial Estate, Chelmsford Road, suspects have stolen the front index plate from a Silver Toyota Yaris. No damage was caused to the vehicle. call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 Between 1800hrs on 11/01/2016 and 0900hrs 12/1/2016 at a property in Hartford End, Felsted, suspects have broken into a shed by cutting off the padlock causing 20 worth of damage. No property has been removed.

8 Crime Prevention Advice Protecting and serving Essex Illusionist Most burglars are opportunists, they leave home with the intention of committing the crime, but their target has yet to be identified. Take away that first attraction and you do not become that target. First attraction: - open or insecure gates or ready access to the rear of the property, overgrown shrubs that conceals the front door, insecure properties, lack of obvious security like good locks (with a PVCu door etc. have you locked it correctly i.e. lift the handle and turn the key or thumb turn, and if replacing the lock cylinder look for a British Standard TS007 three star Europrofile replacement) and an intruder alarm is a good deterrent. Become an illusionist make your home appear occupied even when you are out, a burglar is more than likely to only see your home in one moment in time. Simple things like lights on timers and Fake TV for the evenings, you can now even get a timer that fits over your light switches (search on the internet for light switch timer). During the day leave a radio on, boots outside the back door, vacuum cleaner out with the lead going out of sight (not plugged in though), newspaper over the arm of the chair with a drink on the table and a pair of spectacles, the list goes on. Don t leave garden tools out in the garden though or you may find the burglar uses them, lock them securely away in a secure shed or garage (use a shed alarm too).
