1 Environmental Visual Audit An Environmental Visual Audit (EVA) is intended to produce detailed Community intelligence to support both crime reduction and deliver other improvements to quality of life issues via partnership working. EVA forms can be completed by individuals or groups (a Neighbourhood Watch, for example) and may be accompanied by photos to provide further information or detail. The form below can be printed off, completed and returned by post or completed electronically and forwarded via to: What do next? Look at the following maps PC John Irving COPS Team The use of super output areas is aimed to help track the impact of your work by linking it to existing statistics. Your observations should be conducted within the area bordered by the red line..however.common sense must always prevail and serious problems observed as you walk into or drive into your target area should not be ignored and can be recorded on this form. Take your time plan your journey around the target area ---carry a digital camera--- Talk, to local residents and involve partners-different people. The aim is to observe in detail and get a genuine and accurate snapshot of the neighbourhood. If completing by hand please use extra pieces of plain paper if required. 3 Part A Insecurity Lock it or loose it ) A number of household windows was left open during daylight, also a few cars was seen parked with their windows open. A moped was parked in front of a house with the ignition key in the barrel 68% of all Burglaries in South Cumbria are currently caused by insecurity Dwellings Ragland Court consists of 3 blocks of flats (2 storey building). Vulcan Road and Brathay Crescent consists of semi detached properties, the majority owned by Barrow Borough Council Insecure garage located and owner notified. 4 Vehicles A number of cars were seen parked with their windows open. A moped was parked in front of a house with the ignition key in the barrel A number of pedal cycles were observed lying around. Owners notified. Not protectively marked 4
5 Business The Riflemans Garage is located at the corner of Vulcan Road / Salthouse Road Part B Social Disorder Litter associated with anti social behaviour (i.e. broken glass and drug paraphernalia) Vulcan Road and Brathay Crescent appeared very clean and free of rubbish/litter. The play park area had a very small amount of rubbish. The rear of Raglan Court in the seating area was littered with empty beer bottles, broken glass, empty beer tins, silver foil used for drugs located in the bushes. A number of residents spoke to us in relation to this area. Due to the state of the seating area, ity is not used by the community but by young people during the evenings and nights and is a local hot spot for ASB. Signs of outdoor sexual activity / public urination None seen Groups hanging around: None seen Stray or unleashed dogs None seen Not protectively marked 5
