2 Multiple Curtain Slashings 58 curtain sided vehicles were slashed at three separate transport firms. The offences took place overnight between Saturday November 7th and Sunday November 8th 2015 in Macclesfield. 52 lorries were damaged at a company based at Adlington Business Park, one at a company nearby on London Road and five more in Bollington. The damage is estimated to be thousands of pounds. All of them were empty, so they got nothing, so It might have just been mindless vandalism but that is unlikely. 3 UK Cargo Robberies At around 02.30hrs on Thursday 6 th November while parked in Enderby, Leicestershire a driver was hijacked at knife point and forced to drive to Nottingham. He was then put into a blue Ford Transit and released elsewhere. His 1m load of GHD hair straighteners were stolen. Also reported to Leicestershire A foreign lorry driver has parked up at one of the service stations on the M1. At 0719hrs as he returned from the toilet he was assaulted by 4 males who put a pillowcase over his head and he was put into the boot of a Skoda car. He was later dropped off on Highcross Road, Claybrook, Magna. His HGV with 500 cases of whiskey was stolen. Any information regarding this to Leicestershire Police on 101. Incident number /11/2015
4 A German Robbery Industry sources have informed us that at a Czech lorry stopped over night recently at Eichsfeld (heading westward). At 02.00hrs the driver disturbed a gang of 6 men who were breaking into his trailer. He was assaulted so badly he lost consciousness and his load was stolen. INDUSTRY HAS INFORMED US OF THE FOLLOWING. AFTER A THEFT FROM A COMPANY IN GERMANY, POLICE STOPPED A BMW CAR AND A LORRY TRAVELLING TOGETHER. ON BOARD THEY FOUND STOLEN METAL AND TOOLS TO COMMIT THEFT. THE OFFENDERS WERE ARRESTED AT AROUND MIDNIGHT IN A SUBURB OF MITTELMEIDENCH,
5 Germany Theft Alerts Industry informs us that a loaded Mercedes Actros lorry has been stolen recently from Karisruhe city centre during the night. Details of the vehicle are not available. INDUSTRY SOURCES INFORM US THAT A FURTHER CARGO THEFT HAS TAKEN PLACE FROM A HIGH CARGO CRIME AREA ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF MONCHENGLADBACK, ACROSS TO THE DUTCH BOARDER AND DOWN TO KOBLENZ. A TRACTOR UNIT ENTERED A LOGISTICS SITE AND STOLE A HIGH VALUE LOADED TRAILER (PRINTING EQUIPMENT).
6 A UK Toy story Industry sources have informed us that a theft occurred overnight 19 th /20 th November on the A14 Westbound, in a layby at West Haughley before junction 47(a)- 30 miles West of Felixstowe. An unknown quantity of toys were stolen from a secure container/trailer. This was a container collection from Felixstowe on route to Northampton. 7 TVs Turned Over Thousands of pounds worth of televisions were stolen from a lorry parked overnight in Royal Oak Way North, Daventry, sometime between 4am and 4.30am on Thursday, 5th November 2015 The driver was woken by the noise and saw another vehicle parked behind his. It is believed the offenders loaded the stolen TVs into the other vehicle, described as a white, 7.5 tonne lorry. Anyone with information about the stolen property or the incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously
8 Smuggler Jailed A 43 year old lorry driver was stopped at Dover Docks as he waited to board a ferry. He was found to have 142,592 in a holdall hidden in the roof of his cab which he planned to smuggle out of the country. On 5 th November he was found guilty of Money Laundering and sentenced by Canterbury Crown Court to 18 months in prison. Customs officers stopped a Romanian registered transport van on A8 motorway in Germany, travelling to France packets of counterfeit cigarettes were discovered hidden under the van floor.
9 Smashing Crime Can you name this offender who smashed the windows and lights of 18 lorries in Wareham at 7pm on Saturday, 17 th October The offender used a hammer to cause the damage at a Waste Management Site in Bere Road, Weymouth. CCTV show the offender clad in black with their hood up. The image is not that clear but someone with local knowledge may know who this is. 12 A Call for Safe Driving A CMPG two-week operation which ended last month, led to 29 HGV drivers being stopped for using handheld devices while driving. SOME WERE FINED 100 FIXED PENALTY NOTICE AND THREE POINTS ON THEIR LICENCE, OTHERS WERE GIVEN THE CHANCE TO TAKE A DRIVING COURSE. INSPECTOR SION HATHAWAY FROM CMPG: DRIVERS STILL SEEM TO BE IGNORING THE LAW AND CONTINUE TO PUT THEMSELVES AND OTHER ROAD USERS IN DANGER BY USING MOBILE PHONES WHILST DRIVING. IT S PARTICULARLY DISAPPOINTING THAT SUCH A LARGE NUMBER OF OFFENDERS CAUGHT WERE HGV DRIVERS PEOPLE WHO ARE PAID TO DRIVE AND ARE EXPECTED TO BE PROFESSIONAL BEHIND THE WHEEL. The DVLA last month began warning HGV and PSV drivers that they may be required to attend a conduct hearing in front of the traffic commissioner if found to be using a mobile phone while driving
