4 WHY RSV4? RSV4 project was born to bring motorsports technology directly to the road and reconfirm the passion and engineering capabilities of Aprilia even in the large engine capacity category. A bike developed for the track that embodies everything a rider desires to dominate the circuit, but which can be just as much fun to ride on the road. A concentrated engineering package developed around a 65 V4 engine, the layout identified as the best technical choice for a powerful, light, ultracompact and extremely agile machine. UPDATE ENGINE MAPS The goal of the changes made to engine management was to achieve improved usability despite the considerable increase in power. 3 MAPS (RACE, TRACK, SPORT) Now all Full-Power (201 HP). The ROAD map disappeared to make room for the new RACE setting. In any case, safety and a gradual approach to the bike are guaranteed by ATC and ABS. Now the traction/wheelie trade-off is oriented toward track use. It is therefore more free so you can put in even better lap times. 25 25 RSV4 RR/RF C) ELECTRONICS - 4. V4 MULTIMEDIA PLATFORM The new RSV4 is available (as optional equipment) with the specific version of the PMP interface (Piaggio Multimedia Platform), the V4-MP. A dedicated App allows the rider to view and store additional information provided by numerous sensors on the vehicle.

V4 MULTIMEDIA PLATFORM Some of the exclusive features of V4-MP are: Active Electronic Setup: this is as close as you can get to the corner-by-corner electronic management used in world racing championships. Using the GPS antenna of your smartphone, the system detects the position of the bike at any given time on the track and automatically changes the electronic adjustments (traction control ATC, anti-wheelie AWC), accessing a database of parameters recommended directly by Aprilia Racing. The rider can also customize the electronic controls set up according to his/her own preferences, for each specific segment of the track. This allows to increase safety and performance on the track.

V4 MULTIMEDIA PLATFORM Immersive virtual telemetry: the smartphone records the data from the vehicle and, thanks to sophisticated and realistic 3D animations, plays a video about the rider's performance. The lap reference is indicated by the ghost bike image and its performance can be downloaded from a community database which collects all the laps made by Aprilia customers (and racing drivers too!!) on each circuit. Adaptive race assistant: provides real time suggestions to safely achieve your best lap on the track with your RSV4. Thanks to Aprilia Racing Department simulation technology, the ideal lap for each track can be calculated, taking into consideration the various grip and rider skill levels. The application compares rider performance in real time and assists him/her by immediately indicating the need to brake or the possibility of opening up the throttle.

44 THE APRC SYSTEM HOW IT WORKS Torque demand INPUT 7sm ECU OUTPUT FAST torque cut-off GAS Inertia sensor Determines the dynamic position of the motorcycle SOFT torque cut-off 2 throttle bodies gently reduces torque requested by rider by closing throttle bodies 4 spark plugs Quickly reduces torque requested by rider by reducing advance (this occurs only in the event of sudden grip loss) Front and rear speed sensors Measure the speeds of the two wheels. These values are used to calculate SLIP: i.e. how much faster the rear wheel is relative to the front wheel

46 46 THE APRC SYSTEM ATC - APRILIA TRACTION CONTROL OVERSLIP CONTROL is yet another traction control strategy which activates when slipping in acceleration (SLIP) exceeds the maximum threshold limit (SLIP max). This strategy improves vehicle performance with particularly worn or lower performance tyres.

54 54 THE APRC SYSTEM SELF CALIBRATING PROCEDURE It makes APRC compatible with different types, sizes and brands of tyre The exclusive calibration procedure detects wheel rolling diameter and automatically calibrates the system. Selectable from instrument panel with motorcycle at rest Fundamental when changing tyre type or final drive ratio All it takes is riding the motorcycle on a level stretch of road at 40 Km/h for some seconds until CALIBRATING disappears from the display. If the procedure is completed successfully, the message CALIBRATING disappears from the display when the bike is started again

56 56 THE ABS SYSTEM WHAT IS ABS This is a modern electronically managed anti-lock braking system based on the advanced BOSCH 9MP ECU, skilfully developed and calibrated based on indications from Aprilia engineers. True to its racing DNA, Aprilia designed and developed the wheel anti-locking system to guarantee not only maximum safety on the road, but also the best performance on the track. This constitutes the completion and maximum evolution of an electronic control package (APRC) recognised as one of the top of its category.

57 57 IL SISTEMA ABS ABS ACCORDING TO APRILIA Main advantages of ABS on bikes: improved stability improved deceleration without locking the wheels improved braking distance in various critical situations Aprilia decided to go beyond, fine tuning an ABS system that does not simply prevent the wheels from locking up during braking, but which, depending on which of the 3 different maps is set, is capable of detecting the situation in which the braking takes place (touring, sport riding, track, bumpy road, panic stop ) and adjust its action accordingly with the goal of always maximising braking performance itself.
