7 INTRODUCING THE SLICAST SYSTEM Positive caster is achieved by rotating the ball joint cam towards the rear of the ATV making the ATV handle better in a straight line, but harder to turn. Negative caster is achieved by rotating the ball joint cam towards the front of the ATV making it corner better, but twitchy in a straight line. The Slicast adjustment is the slickest way of adjusting your caster and camber independently offered only by Houser-Racing. With 13 settings, each setting giving you.4 of rotation, any caster you are trying to achieve can be set. The Slicast rotates like a cam or bearing carrier, with the ball joint hole being on an eccentric. There are 2 pins sticking out of the upper A-arm, on the top and on the bottom. With these pins you are able to see where your caster setting is. The pins are not what holds the upper ball joint and the Slicast piece from spinning. Tightening the upper ball joint keeps the unit from spinning. Adjusting the Slicast is done in 3 easy steps: Back off the jam nut in the front of the upper ball joint Pull the Slicast piece out 1/8 and rotate it to the desired setting that you want to achieve Re-tighten the jam nut. Yes it is that quick and simple! With the Slicast, we make adjusting caster camber easy on you. You don t have to know the geometry or why you are adjusting your caster; you just need to know what setting works for you. With the numbers on the Slicast, you can document what your settings are from track to track. Just remember that when you are in the pits, at the races, cover your settings so your competition can t snoop!!! Applications Start ON PAGE 501 The upper A-Arm houses a moveable ball joint holder. As the ball joint holder is rotated, the caster is incrementally adjusted by.4. 9 LONG TRAVEL & REGULAR TRAVEL A-ARM BEARING END INFO Precision Line Boring Houser-Racing line bores their A-Arms so they will bolt up to your frame, ensuring free up and down movement that lets your shock perform to its maximum ability. When the A-Arm bearing holders are welded, the heat from welding causes them to egg shape and twist. Line boring after welding ensures that the bearing holders are round and are the correct size to give your bearing or bushing the perfect press fit. 10 STEERING STEMS All Houser steering stems are made from 4130-chromoly steel. Our stems are professionally welded together to insure that you have a high quality product that will hold up to the harshest conditions. We believe in our welded upper portion of our steering stem over the wimpy casting that the competition is trying to make an industry standard. Large gussets meet as close as possible to the frame mount clamp, to help from bending. With a Houser rear linkage, that s how!! With our linkage systems you will gain performance in the following areas: More Wheel Travel - This will give your ATV a softer landing, enabling you to get power to the ground as quickly as possible Better Shock Travel To Wheel Travel Ratios - We often change the ratio of our linkages to make the linkage harder or softer at different points of the wheel travel. This process lets the linkage help determine how hard of an impact the shock can take before it is fully bottomed out. Finding the right ratios can be very difficult; this is why all linkages are not created equal Better Hole Shots - Do you ever notice when you push down on the rear end of your stock ATV, it feels real nice for about 4-6, then it starts to get real hard? As you accelerate through the hole shot, your rear suspension compresses, applying power to the ground. When your suspension hits the hard spot, your wheels will begin to spin, losing forward momentum. If your rear suspension works correctly, it will compress the entire way, putting more wheel pressure to the ground, which gives you more forward momentum Longer Length Shocks - As with the Honda TRX450R the OEM shock is just too short. Our Long Travel Linkage System uses a shock that is 2.25 longer than the stock one Better or Same Linkage Clearance - We know that you don t want your rear end to bottom out on the ground, so we designed our linkages to have the same or more clearance than the stock linkage Always remember that when you use a Houser long travel rear linkage to use our Air Box Lifter Kit. The Air Box Lifter Kit will raise your air box up out of harms way. The Air Box Lifter Kits are easy to install and is a bolt-on solution for every ATV.
