2 Executive Summary: The HVAC Control Chip testing conducted at CareFree Southern Charm Mobile Home Resort Sales Office, Zepyherhills, FL on February 6,2015 thru April 7, 2015 Outdoor conditions were mixed during the baseline test period with the daily average temperatures of 68 and night time temperatures in the 50 s. The HVAC Smart Chip test period (installed) seen a 13 degree upswing temperature differential between periods, with the average daily temperature of 81 degree. System utilization varied between the baseline and active periods as demonstrated by the kw usage (BARD unit heavily engaged). TEST 1 The building is equipped with 2 identical 3.5 Ton 13 seer FRIGIDAIRE package units of same age. The SIDE PU will be CONROL, wired for KW usage, while the REAR PU (TEST) will be metered and Smart Chip Installed. This will be a direct head to head test over 62 days TEST 2 The BARD unit will be a self contained test. The unit will be metered for 23 days to establish a baseline, smart chip added and use the comparative data points. In both cases Daily KW Usage reduction is the metric. RESULTS: FRIGIDAIRE TEST UNIT demonstrated a 5.73 Daily average KW reduction (60%) over a 62 day period compared to the CONTROL unit. The BARD Test demonstrated a 6.36 Daily average KW reduction (22%) over its base line test period. In Total 41% reduction in daily KW USAGE The HVAC Control Chip continues to drive impressive savings in commercial applications even during non-peak conditions where savings and reduced energy would be substantially higher during the prolonged heat in Florida from February to September. In terms of reduction in overall operational expense with The HVAC Control Chip will deliver an annual savings between $400-$500 at 12 cents per KW. In addition, it will reduce wear and tear on the compressor and maximizing the efficiency of the system, thus extending the life of the equipment. The HVAC Control Chip has a 5 year unconditional replacement warranty. REACTCHIP Southern Charm Study 1
3 Equipment Samples: Hours of AC Operation: 7 AM 11:00 PM 7 Days per Week Total Units: 3 Meter Equipment: The ESP3 Series is the newest product to be introduced from the Energy Scout product line. The ESP3 Watt / Watt-hour meter is used to measure energy at the input to electrical load centers or branch circuits. The unit displays Volts, Amps, Watts and Power Factor in addition to import/ export energy. The unit is DIN-rail mounted and can be supplied with optional indoor and outdoor enclosures. Configuration: 3 Phase 3 Wire REACTCHIP Southern Charm Study 2
4 TEST 1: FRIGIDAIRE PU TEST CASE: The Property under review is equipped with 2 identical Frigidaire package unit of same make and model Energy Scout meters will be installed on both units to record KW usage over the test period. One Unit will be retrofitted HVAC Control Chip (test) and the other unit (Control) will not. The REAR PU is selected as TEST; The Side PU is selected as Control The results will compare the average daily KW usage between the two units over a period of 62 days Results: Control Chip Installed (4 Week Duration) Test Start KW meter Stop KW meter KW per Day Total KW Usage Test Control Difference Test Period: 2/6/15 4/7/15 Results on a comparative basis demonstrates a 60% reduction in KW Usage Per Day with HVAC Control Chip (test) vs No chip (control). HVAC Control Chip was installed on 2/23/15 KW recording indicates both system not heavily active prior to chip installation date due to average temperature of 68 degrees. After installation date, a 13 degree upswing in temperature (81) caused higher System engagement and energy consumption. A 5.73 daily KW reduction will translate to a $250 annual savings (cost.12 KW ) REACTCHIP Southern Charm Study 3
5 TEST 2: BARD UNIT TEST CASE: The Property under review is equipped with with 1 Bard unit. Energy Scout meters will be installed on both units to record KW usage over the test period. Self Contained test; meter will record a baseline of KW usage, then Chip will be installed and monitored. This unit was consistently engaged during the entire test period. The results will compare the average daily KW usage between the two units over a period of 62 days Results: Control Chip Installed (4 Week Duration) Test Start KW meter Stop KW meter KW per Day Total KW Usage HCC Base Difference Test Period: 2/6/15 4/7/15 Results on a comparative basis demonstrates a 22% reduction in KW Usage Per Day with HVAC Control Chip (test) vs No chip (baseline period).
