2 FUNCTIONING The CB2 automatic battery charger controls the voltage of the battery connected. If this voltage is lower than 1.7 V./c, it stops the complete charge and outputs a min. reset current. As soon as 1.7 V/c min. voltage is reached, this charger activate the max. complete charge set and self-adjusted. When 2 V/c charge is reached, a gradual decrease of current starts until the 2.25 V/c charge is complete (see fig. 1). When the battery is charged, CB2 accurately limits the holding current by compensating the battery self-discharge and possible consumption of the circuits connected. During its functioning, the charger holds accurately the parameters set even with mains variation within a range of +/- 15%. In addition to this, this battery charger is equipped with safety protections against mains overvoltages up to 4 KV. The delivery of dangerous voltages to the output and damages are prevented. The CB2-B battery charger controls the current and charge voltage accurately, thus assuring a battery long life. In fact, if these values are not controlled, the overcurrent and overvoltage would cause the electrolyte resolution to oxygen and hydrogen. In this way, the high quantity of oxygen would oxidize the inner plates, thus reducing its capacity and sulphation life. In order to avoid these drawbacks, CB2 carries out the following functions: In order to avoid any problem the CB2-C has got the following functions: Complete charge of flat batteries with current limitation and protection against short circuits; Automatic current reduction during the charge voltage increase; Charge current stop as soon as each cell reaches 2.25 V. 3 SIGNALINGS pilot lamp: charge connected; pilot lamp: holding charge; pilot lamp: alarm; pilot lamp: connection to 24V. INSTALLATION AND USE CB2-B carries out the 12 V. and 24 V. battery recharge. Since the equipment is delivered with the battery charger set to 12 V., in order to recharge 24 V. batteries, it is necessary to change the position of jumpers (A, B, C, D) inside the battery charger (figure 2). Since the connection state of C and D jumpers is not signalled externally, before supplying CB2-B with power, you are required to check the correct setting of jumpers.
