4 Product Information seeboost is an electronic monocular spectacles-mounted vision enhancement device designed to improve the visual function of persons with central vision loss due to macular degeneration or diabetes. seeboost is intended for all-day use, and for various activities including: Close-up reading Object recognition (labels, signs) Recognizing features on faces Watching television Crafts and games seeboost is not intended for: Recognition of small objects at far distances Use in poorly lit environments Page 3 of 32

6 Adjusting Frames (1 of 2) Adjust nosepieces With glasses on, tilt head down. If glasses are slipping down nose, remove glasses and push nosepieces together as shown. If frames are not fitting, please call for assistance. Page 5 of 32

7 Adjusting Frames (2 of 2) Adjust earpieces With glasses on, tilt head down. If glasses are slipping down nose, remove glasses and bend both earpieces as shown. 14 Battery Pack Information Battery pack can be plugged in with device turned on Turning down brightness will increase battery life Charge state is displayed permanently when device is on Battery pack will remain charged for months if not used If no LEDs turn on, connect to a charger seeboost will operate for up to 6 hours* continuously from 100% charge. It is recommended to charge seeboost every night. * depending on screen brightness If the battery pack is completely discharged, no LEDs will turn on. Once a charger is connected, it will take roughly 10 minutes for the LEDs to display the charge state. Page 13 of 32

15 Installing Occulder (Optional) seeboost can be worn with an optional occluder to help block light in the fellow eye if light sensitivity causes problems with screen visibility. To install, slip over the stem and push over the lens of the unaided eye. Push over Unaided Eye Slip over stem Page 14 of 32

20 Using the Control Knob (2 of 4) Magnification Each click of the knob will increase by approximately 1x magnification. The first click has a larger jump in magnification. Use the lowest magnification comfortable for the task. If material is too hard to read at high magnification, bring it closer. Take breaks if using high magnification for long periods of time. 21 Using the Control Knob (3 of 4) Push and Release Toggle Color Mode Mode 1: Full Color Mode Mode 2: High Contrast Grayscale Pressing down on the control knob and releasing will toggle the color mode. Inverted mode can be useful for lower contrast scenes, or when it is easier to read white text with a dark background. Page 20 of 32

22 Using the Control Knob (4 of 4) Change Display Brightness Hold down knob while turning Decrease brightness Increase brightness This adjusts the overall screen brightness and light into the eye. The last setting is remembered after seeboost is powered off. Page 21 of 32

26 Storing in Clamshell Case Place seeboost in Clamshell Case as shown Wrap cable gently. Magnetic connector will stick to inside of case. Page 25 of 32

27 Cleaning (1 of 2) seeboost requires periodic cleaning for optimal performance. Clean regularly with the included microfiber cloth. Do not clean with water. Do not use excessive force while cleaning. Page 26 of 32

If you are unable to read this WARNING adequately and in full, please have another person read the following WARNING to you aloud in full. WARNING: OBSCURED VISION Normal use of the seeboost will obscure your vision. While using the seeboost, do not engage in any activity that would pose a physical risk to any person engaged in such an activity even if that person is not using a seeboost. WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE MACHINERY OR VEHICLES Normal use of the seeboost will obscure your vision. It is dangerous to operate any machinery while using the seeboost device. This includes the operation of any type of vehicle while using the seeboost. DO NOT OPERATE ANY VEHICLE OR MACHINARY WHILE USING THE seeboost DEVICE. WARNING: DO NOT WALK WHILE WEARING SEEBOOST Walking or trying to move the user s person while using the seeboost device could be potentially dangerous and increase the user s chances of injury caused from a fall. Do not attempt to walk or walk while using the seeboost device. The user should remove the seeboost device before attempting to walk or walking. WARNING: DO NOT STAND It is possible for a seeboost user to become disoriented when the user covers the non-seeboost eye during use. This includes use of the Occluder provided within your seeboost kit. Please use caution when standing or conducting any activity while using the seeboost device with or without use of the Occluder. WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD Small parts. Not for children under 3 years Some of the components included in the seeboost kit are small and may present a choking hazard to children. Page 30 of 32
