4 User s Manual 4 SAFETY AND OPERATIONAL WARNINGS The purpose of this manual is to provide Endura users with a clear understanding of operating procedures. If further information is needed, contact Aquabotix at support@aquabotix.com or Assemble and use Endura only as instructed by this manual. Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference. Read and follow these important safety instructions and the detailed assembly in this manual prior to using the Endura. Follow all safety and operational warnings. Heed all restrictions on use. Refer all non-routine service issues to Aquabotix customer service at or support@aquabotix.com. Assemble Endura in a safe, dry place. Do not assemble while submerged in water or allow Endura to get wet before it is fully assembled. Do not assemble with wet hands. Do not attempt to open the vehicle at any time (unless instructed by Aquabotix). Endura is powered by a rechargeable Lithium battery pack. Do not attempt to replace these at any time (unless instructed by Aquabotix). Contact Aquabotix if the vehicle isn t charging properly. Only Aquabotix and our Authorized Service Centers are authorized to replace the battery pack. Lithium batteries are restricted for air travel contact customer service for guidelines before sending the Endura by air. When using topside power to charge your Endura, use caution to prevent shock or damage. The Endura dome must be completely secured with O-ring correctly seated to keep it watertight. The topside box is not waterproof. Do not submerge the topside box in water. Endura is meant for depths no greater than 330 feet from the water s surface and distances of 500 feet from the topside box. Do not operate beyond this depth/distance as operational safety is not tested and rated for such depths or distances. Secure all cables on board to prevent tripping hazards.

5 User s Manual 5 Ensure watertight connector cable is properly secured to the topside box before use. Be careful of propellers when in use. Do not stick fingers, etc. in or near the propellers. Do not run the propellers while out of the water, it will damage them. Endura is meant for operation only by adults over 18 years of age only. Keep Endura out of the reach of children and supervise children and pets when Endura is in operation. Do not use Endura in rain, rough sea conditions and/or storms. Do not use Endura while underwater machinery is in operation nearby. Do not allow Endura to contact underwater marine life or vegetation. Keep Endura clear of all underwater objects. Do not expose Endura to high temperatures above 35 Celsius/ 95 Fahrenheit; avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Do not leave the carrying case in direct sunlight. Use Endura only in the recommended operating water temperature range of 0 Celsius/32 Fahrenheit to 35 Celsius/95 Fahrenheit. Dropping Endura or subjecting it to strong force may damage the vehicle. Handle with care. For models equipped with a fiber optic tether: do not support the weight of the vehicle with the tether as this may break the fibers in the tether. Failure to follow these important safety instructions and the detailed assembly and use instructions of this manual will void your limited warranty from Aquabotix and may result in serious injury or death. Aquabotix disclaims all liability arising from or caused by the failure to assemble and use Endura in accordance with this manual, including all important safety instructions.

7 User s Manual 7 DOWNLOAD THE AQUABOTIX APP: For Windows: 1. Windows 8 or later is required. 2. Log onto 3. In the footer of the home page click on the Software/ Manuals link. 4. Download the installation application and open it. 5. Read through the options and finally click Install. 6. Unzip the folder to the desired location on your PC. 7. The Aquabotix application should be installed and ready for use. For ipad: 1. ios 8 or later is required. 2. Open the app store. 3. Search for Aquabotix CC. 4. Install the application. 5. The Aquabotix application should be installed and ready for use.

8 User s Manual 8 SET UP: ENDURA ROV 1. Inspect your Endura for any damage that may have occurred during transport and make sure the dome securely fastened. 2. Register your Endura with Aquabotix at 3. Ensure your vehicle is not attached to the Top Side Box or charger. 4. Grease the SubConn connector to the manufacturer s specifications (see page 13) 5. Insert the SubConn connector to the vehicle. Wipe away any excess grease. 6. Attach the strain relief tether to the eyelet on the tail of the vehicle. 7. Power the vehicle by applying the magnet key to the magnetic switch in the dome. A green LED will light up on the right side of the camera indicating the vehicle is powered on. Magnetic Switch

9 User s Manual 9 8. Connect the tether to the Top Side Box. Align the pins of the socket to the pins of the plug and insert it. Rotate the collar clockwise until snug to secure it. 9. Connect the power source to the Top Side Box, aligning the pins on the socket to the pins of the plug and insert it. Give the collar a quarter turn to secure it. 10. Power on the Top Side Box using the middle switch. 11. Connect the vehicle to the Top Side Box network. a) For PC users: The Top Side Box s network signal can be accessed via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Select this network in the network settings. Using a hard-wired Ethernet connection is recommended to maximize performance. Network Options

10 User s Manual 10 b) For ios users: The network signal can be accessed over WI-Fi. Go to Settings> Wi-Fi> Choose Network. 12. Open the Aquabotix application and allow the system to boot up. The application is operation when video feed is shown. 13. The Endura is now fully powered on and ready for connection to a laptop or ipad. Please note: the LED lights on the front of the vehicle will fade on/off until a connection is made to the software. These lights are very bright and caution should be taken to not look directly at the lights. 14. Your Endura ROV is now ready for use.

11 User s Manual 11 CHARGING THE VEHICLE BATTERY Note: If using the battery power source option, charge the battery completely before use as it only has a partial charge when it is unpackaged. The vehicle must be fully charged before every use. 1. Connect the two wall plug wires to the charger. 2. Connect the charger to a power source. Plug to Power source Charger Charger Cable 3. Connect the charger wires to the connector of the charger. 4. Remove the dummy pigtail from the Sub Conn connector and insert the charger cable to the SubConn connector on the Endura. A red light on the charger indicates the vehicle is charging. A green light indicates the vehicle is fully charged. A full charge takes approximately 8 hours. Pigtail 5. When finished charging, disconnect the charger from the vehicle. Do not leave the charger connected to the vehicle without being connected to a power source as this may cause damage to the battery.

12 User s Manual 12 CHARGING THE TOP SIDE BOX BATTERY Note: If using the battery power source option, charge the battery completely before use as it only has a partial charge when it is unpackaged. 1. Attach the charger to the Top Side Box. 2. Attach the charger to power source (either 12v DC or 120v AC). 3. A red light on the charger indicates that it is charging. A green light will indicate on the charger when the battery has been completely charged. 4. Disconnect the charger from the top side box before use. POWERING THE TOP SIDE BOX: AC CURRENT The Top Side Box may be powered using AC current. Simply attach the power supply to the Top Side Box and plug into a power source. Use the rocker switch to power it on.

13 User s Manual 13 MAINTENANCE SUBCONN CONNECTOR The SubConn connector must be properly greased before use to ensure a waterproof connecton and prevent corrosion. Connectors must be greased with Molykote 44 medium before every mating. 2. A layer of grease should be applied to the face of the female connector and into the pin sockets to a depth of 1/10 of the sockets depth. 3. After greasing, fully mate the male and female connector to distribute the grease on the pins and sockets. 4. To confirm that grease has been sufficiently applied, mate the pins and socket then separate them. Check for grease on each pin. 5. Mate the male and female connectors. 6. A layer of grease should be applied to the face of the female connector and into the pin sockets at a depth of 1/3 of the sockets depth. 3. After greasing, fully mate the male and female connectors. 4. Wipe away any excess grease. 1. General cleaning and removal of any accumulated sand or mud on a connector should be performed using isopropyl alcohol. 2. New grease must be applied again prior to mating.

14 User s Manual 14 ADJUSTING BUOYANCY 1. Loosen the bolt located at the back of the skid using a 3/32 Allen wrench and an 11/32 wrench. 2. Tilt the bracket up towards the body of the vehicle. 3. Insert additional weights for salt water operation. 4. Return the bracket back to its original position in line with the skid insert the bolt and tighten. Repeat this process on the other skid. 5. The additional weights should be removed for fresh water use.

15 User s Manual 15 PROPELLERS 1. Before and after use, check all propellers for any damage that may have occurred or any debris that may have gotten caught in them. 2. If debris is present, carefully remove it. Turn the Endura off before cleaning 3. If damage has occurred to the propellers, contact Aquabotix customer service at CONDENSATION If condensation is present inside the vehicle, please contact Aquabotix customer service at AFTER USE CARE INSTRUCTIONS 1. Remove Endura from the water. 2. Disconnect tether cable from the Top Side Box and the vehicle. 3. Insert the dummy pigtail to the Endura s SubConn. 4. Rinse Endura with fresh water, dry with microfiber cloth. a. The dome of the Endura may be cleaned with a solution of soap and water. Do not use cleaners containing isopropyl alcohol as this can damage the Endura s dome. 5. Make sure the Endura is completely dry before storage. 6. Inspect the Endura for any damage that may have occurred or condensation. 7. Store Endura and cover dome to protect from scratches and damage.

17 User s Manual 17 DEVICE WEB SERVER: WINDOWS Saved pictures, videos and saved data for the Windows application can be viewed and downloaded on the Endura s web server. 1. Click on File in the tool bar. 2. Click on Device Web Server in the File menu. a. This will bring up the Device Web server home screen. 3. Select the information you wish to access. 4. To download or delete a photo or video: a. Select the photo or video tab. b. Click the green arrow to download and save it to your PC. c. Click the red X to delete it from the Endura.

18 User s Manual To download or delete recorded data: a. Select the Data tab. b. Click the green arrow to download and save to your PC. c. Click the red X to delete it from the Endura. 6. To change what data is recorded: a. Select the Config tab. b. Select Data CFG. c. Click the check box next to each entry to select what you wish to record. d. Click the update configuration button at the top of the list. e. Reboot your vehicle for these changes to apply. 7. To change the interval at which data is recorded: a. Change the number in the Value box in the Data recording configuration b. Click the Update configuration button. c. Reboot your vehicle for these changes to apply.

Thruster power button- Increase or decrease the amount of power to the thrusters 3. Record button- Begin and terminate video recording 4. Capture button- Take still photographs 5. Record Data button- Begin and terminate recording data 6. Illumination Intensity button- Toggle the brightness of the LED lights (optional) 7. Tilt button- Change the degree of tilt up or down or reset to its original position 8. Pan button- Change the degree of pan left or right or reset to its original position 9. Connection button- View the connection status of the Endura as well as shut it down 10. Tag Button- Add tags for date and time in the recorded data 11. Control button- Brings you to the control screen with video feed 12. Movies button- View and download recorded movies 13. Photos button- View and download captured photographs 14. Data button- View and download recorded data 15. Utilities button- View Endura status 16. Available space remaining on the memory card

20 User s Manual 20 Navigating Saved Files on ipad Saved photos, videos and recorded data can all be viewed and downloaded within the Aquabotix ipad application. 1. To view, download or delete a photo or video: a. Select the photos or videos tab from the tool bar at the bottom of the app. b. Press the green arrow to download to your ipad. c. Press the red X to delete it from the Endura. 2. To view, download or delete recorded data: a. Select the data tab from the toolbar at the bottom of the app. b. Press the green arrow to download the data to your device. c. Press the red X to delete it from the Endura. 3. To change what data is recorded: a. Select the data tab from the toolbar at the bottom of the app. b. Select the Config tab at the top of the screen. c. Select the Data CFG tab. d. Select the check box next to each entry to select what you wish to record. e. Press the update configuration at the bottom of the list. f. Reboot your vehicle.

21 User s Manual 21 FAQs What do I do if the vehicle s battery dies while in the water? If this occurs, pull your vehicle gently to the surface using its cable. What do I do if the Wi-Fi isn t showing up on the ipad settings? Turn off the topside box and turn back on. Try to locate the Wi-Fi on your ipad. If still not showing up after a few times of trying, contact Aquabotix. How do I know my vehicle is ready to connect to the Wi-Fi? The Endura s LED lights will turn on then shut off. Then, they will continuously blink until you open the application. If the lights start off as dim and then proceed to continuously get brighter, please contact Aquabotix by calling or us at support@aquabotix.com. How do I get my Endura out of the water? Grab the watertight connector cable and pull the vehicle up. This cable is strong and won t detach from the vehicle. (Please note: this does not apply to fiber cable configurations. Caution must be used when pulling on the fiber cable) Where do my photos and videos get stored after I record them? All photos and videos are stored onboard the Endura s memory card. ipad: Photos and Videos get stored on the vehicle, which you can then download from the ipad application to your video album on your ipad. PC: Photos are stored directly on your laptop. Videos get stored on the vehicle, which you can then download from the PC application to your laptop. How long does my vehicle run for? Your vehicle will run for about 2-4 hours before requiring recharging, depending upon your speed and use of lights during use. How long does it require to recharge the battery completely? It requires 10 hours. Please note: All vehicles must be fully charged before first use. They are not shipped fully charged.

22 User s Manual 22 What are the system requirements for my ipad or PC? Windows 8+, ios 8.0 or later How do I download the application? ipad: Go to the itunes store and search for Aquabotix ROV or visit our website at PC: Go to and click on downloads. The instructions will be located there. What do I do if I get a scratch on the dome of the vehicle? The products lenses are made of acrylic. If there are some scratches present, acrylic polish can remove them. If your lens is cracked, we have replacement lenses for purchase. When storing your lens, remember to use a cloth or some form of cover to avoid scratching. Does the camera tilt? Tilt camera is available as an option in all of our pro series ROVs. The tilt is controlled remotely through the application. Is training required? The Endura is user friendly. Our mantra is minutes to get the vehicle in the water, 3 hours for basic driving skills and 3 days for skilled driving. We do offer web based or location based training for customers who desire training direct from Aquabotix for an additional cost. How versatile/modular is the design? Endura can support modules with the following: voltage 5-15V, Interfaces RS485, USB, TTL, Ethernet. Please contact customer service directly for custom applications. Does the vehicle use lubricants and are they food safe? Aquabotix certifies that it only uses National Sanitation Foundation H-1 food grade lubricants in its products. What is logged in the data recording? All Endura ROVs record video at 24fps, depth, temperature, heading, pitch, roll, lights on/off, thrust levels, ordered heading, ordered thrust, ordered pitch, ordered depth, camera recording on/off, power levels.

23 User s Manual 23 How do I connect the game controller to my computer? The dongle for the controller must be inserted into your computer s USB slot. The game controller will need to be configured for your computer. This can be completed in your control panel under hardware and sound devices and printers. Are there shipping restrictions for the Endura? Lithium batteries are restricted for air travel please contact customer service for guidelines before sending the Endura for air travel.

25 User s Manual 25 ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY CERTIFICATE Aquabotix warrants that, under normal use and service, the Endura will be free from defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase by the original purchaser. If Aquabotix receives, during the applicable warranty period, notice of defect in any product, which is covered by Aquabotix s warranty, Aquabotix shall either replace or repair the product at Aquabotix s discretion. If Aquabotix is unable to repair or replace, as applicable, a defective product, which is covered by Aquabotix s warranty, Aquabotix shall, within a reasonable time after being notified about the defect, refund the full purchase price of the product. Aquabotix shall have no obligation to repair, replace or refund the purchase or product until the customer submits an RMA form and returns the defective product to Aquabotix. Warranty does not cover the following: damage caused by abuse or misuse, improper maintenance, incorrect assembly, accidental damage, or damage due to incorrect power connection as described in the user manual. Consumable items including o-rings, moisture absorbing packs, LED lights and batteries are specifically excluded from the warranty. Items subject to normal wear and tear include, but are not limited to, the lens and the outer shell which are only covered for defects in workmanship or materials. Opening the Endura dome (unless instructed by Aquabotix) voids this warranty. Claims for damage, shortage or errors in shipping must be reported within three (3) days following delivery to the customer. Aquabotix is not responsible for returned items lost or damaged during shipping. A copy of the dated receipt or bill of sale from the original end user purchase is required to determine coverage.
