13 Stage: Commissioned Further testing conducted in August with Terna and the Authority for Electricity (AEEGSI). Customer: Based on the results of phase 1, additional 24 MW will be installed with the use of the most promising technologies. Storage Lab will not only support the safe management of the electricity grid, but also host activities to develop Smart Grid applications. Italian and foreign universities and research centers will be part of such challenging activities. EPS has played an important role in this Terna project, acting in partnership with Toshiba, and successfully completing the commissioning and testing phases in March Further testing has been conducted in August 2016 with Terna and the Authority for Electricity (AEEGSI). 14 Stage: Commissioned Further regular testing with Terna and the Authority for Electricity (AEEGSI). Customer: Approved by the Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) in the context of the 2012 Defence Plan, the power intensive project of Terna will increase the security of the electrical systems in the country s major islands by installing 40 MW of energy storage. This project is divided into two phases. The first, called Storage Lab, is currently under development and it will consist of installing two multi-technology plants (using various storage technologies and 8 different commercial products) that will provide for a total of 16 MW, divided between Sicily and Sardinia. 17 Stage: Phase 1 - Commissioned Extension under construction The Hybrid Power Plant, awarded by NECSOM (National Electric Corporation of Somalia) involved the engineering, supply and installation of a renewable and storage turnkey solution that allows the reduction of diesel consumption by more than 2,000 litres per day, and reduced the electricity bills by 17%. The Hybrid Power Plant serves a 3.5MW load, and is currently under extension with 750kW of wind energy, covering with renewables and storage more than 25% of the energy need of the city. Situated in North-East of Somalia, Garowe is the administrative capital of the autonomous Puntland region and a fastgrowing city, which has also evolved into a local media and cultural hub. 18 Stage: Commissioned The Hybrid Power Plant powers the city of Las Anod, in the North of Somalia, through a 500 kw off-grid microgrid, where two diesel generators were already connected. The system is supplied for an indoor solution. 19 Stage: FAT completed, commissioning planned Customer: Many remote Australian communities relying on diesel generators, expensive to run and vulnerable to the volatility of fuel prices. Prior to the installation of the Hybrid Power Plant this iconic mining town in South Australia was entirely relying on diesel generation. The Hybrid Power Plant, whose construction will be carried out starting from September 2016, will provide the mining site and its below-ground residences, with approximately 70% renewable energy over the 20 year life of the project. 20 Stage: FAT completed, commissioning planned For the first time, this Hybrid Power Plant will combine renewables with the complete set of innovative technologies developed by the EPS Group to implement a micro-grid in Chile that will bring electricity to more than 300 technicians constructing a power plant in the Atacama Desert, 4000 meters above sea level. The entire system has been engineered in a containerised, plug & play solution that provides stable power on demand with the same level reliability of to the national electrical grid, using intermittent, renewable power sources coupled with storage. 22 Stage: Commissioned The Hybrid Power Plant powers a 2MW resort and lodges completely offgrid; the power plant is mainly composed by solar panels, energy storage system, advanced control system, power centre and is a real power plant fully remotely controlled. Everything has been fractionated to minimize the footprint, thus exploiting the roofs of the various buildings of the resort with the PV panels. Located in one of the 1,190 Maldives islands, the Hybrid Power Plant will save approximately 275,000 litres of diesel each year, while cutting greenhouse gas emissions by around 165 CO2 tonnes per year. 26 Stage: Commissioned Customer: Acea Distribuzione s Smart Grid pilot project, selected and admitted by the Gas and Electricity Authority from those receiving incentives, has the aim of developing an active network in the Rome Malagrotta Ponte Galeria area and was conceived so as to try new technological solutions aimed at ensuring benefits with regard to the continuity of the electricity service, the reduction of the energy losses and the overall load capacity of the network in the two flow directions, required by the growth of widespread generation. For ACEA, the Italian energy company in the city of Rome, we developed a prototypal energy storage system for grid support.
