Daniela Desormeaux, signumbox s General Manager has been designated as a permanent member of the Comission, with other 21 experts. The Commission is going to work into a new State Policy for lithium exploitation. Nowadays lithium in Chile is stated as strategic asset and cannot be exploited without a special permit from the government. 3 2 Batteries and Vehicles HIGHLIGHTS Hydro-Quebec expands electric vehicle charging network Source: Hydro-Quebec Hydro-Quebec and The Electric Circuit signed a partnership agreement with the municipality of the united townships of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury and the city of Disraeli for the installation of public charging stations. Solvay opens R&I Center at Ewha Womans University in South Korea Source: Solvay Solvay inaugurated a new Research & Innovation Center at the Ewha Womans University in South Korea where the company would access to a wide of national e international network with universities and research institutes. With this center researchers aim to develop materials for lithium-ion batteries in order to improve energy storage capacity. NEC commissioned 5.7MWh of grid energy storage installations in the UK Date: June 5th Source: NEC Corporation NEC announced that it has completed the commissioning of six new GSS sites in the United Kingdom for Northern Powergrid through its subsidiary NEC Energy Solutions. The systems would have about 2.9MW of power and 5.7MWh of energy storage capacity NEC acquired A123 Energy Solutions, the grid energy storage business of A123 Systems, in a US$ 100 million deal that was finalized this past May.

4 EnerDel releases a Low Profile ESS for hybrid buses Source: EnerDel EnerDel has released a lithiumion Low Profile Energy Storage System for single pack operations in hybrid buses in order to replace Nickel-Metal Hydride battery packs. Nissan introduced the EV e-nv200 Date: June 9th Source: Nissan Nissan announced that its second electric commercial vehicle e-nv200 would be launched in Japan in October The vehicle has a hydraulic brake system enabling a driving range of up to 190 km on a full charge. Tesla Motors releases its patents to the public Date: June 12th Source: Tesla Motors Leclanché and Saint-Gobain will jointly develop battery materials Date: June 10th Source: Leclanché Leclanche and the French multinational corporation Saint-Gobain signed a collaboration agreement for the jointly development of a new ceramic separator for lithium-ion batteries. Leclanché would use it in its stationary product range while Saint-Gobain would market it for use in the lithium-ion cells markets. Kia Motors starts mass-production of its first electric vehicle Date: June 12th Source: Kia Motors Kia Motors announced that it has started the production of its first new electric vehicle, the Kia Soul EV, that it is going to be launched for some European countries during the second half of the year. The electric vehicle is powered with a 27kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack and has an 81.4kW electric motor that allow the car a driving range of 200 km per charge. SAFT will provide ESS to French electric utility company Date: June Various Source: Saft Batteries In order to improve the grid stability on the EDF site at the south of Paris, the Alstom-Saft Consortium signed a contract with the French electric utility company EDF Group for the supply of 1 MW/30min energy storage system using lithium-ion batteries. In addition, the company announced a major contract with the industrial and medical remote monitoring systems company SRETT for the provision of lithium-ion batteries. In order to boost the electric vehicle mobility, Tesla Motors announced it has habilitated all its technology to be used by anyone who wants to use it. By releasing its patents to the public, the company expects to accelerate the electrifying transportation.

5 3 Lithium Industry HIGHLIGHTS Lithium Project Date: June 4th Source: Pure Energy Minerals Limited Pure Energy announced it has submitted a drilling permit application for the drilling of one reverse circulation drill hole on its Clayton Valley lithium project, in Esmeralda County, Nevada. Bacanora Minerals updates lithium resources for the Sonora Lithium Project Source: Bacanora Minerals LTD. Bacanora Minerals had updated the lithium resources for both La Ventana lithium deposit and El Sauz and Fleur concessions. The new indicated mineral resources for La Ventana is 75,320,000 tons averaging 3,174 ppm Li, which represent an increase of 37% from the previously announced resource. For the El Sauz and Fleur concessions the increase is 35% with 120,990,000 tons averaging 3,120 ppm Li. Bolivia approves new mining code stating lithium and potash as strategic assets Date: June 6th Source: Industrial Minerals The Bolivian government had approved a new mining code that states lithium and potash as strategic assets ; this means that both minerals need to be preserved for domestic exploitation.

6 RB Energy delays shipment to off take partner to maximize efficiencies Date: June 5th Source: RB Energy Inc. RB Energy announced that even though the shipment of battery grade lithium carbonate to its principal offtake partner Tewoo was scheduled to start at beginning of June, both parties had decided to delay the shipments until the production of lithium carbonate reaches 55 metric tons per week, in order to maximize the shipping efficiencies. Study indicates low inherent iron at the HLM s Pakeagama Lake pegmatite Date: June 11th Source: Houston Lake Mining Inc. Houston Lake Mining announced that an electron microprobe study conducted by the company had confirmed the presence of potentially economic zones of lithium in its Pakeagama Lake pegmatite, as the study showed low inherent iron. In addition, the company announced the closing of a non-brokered private placement totaling gross proceeds of $558,000 which will be used to move forward on its lithium project. Chilean government established National Lithium Commission Date: June 12th Source: Industrial Minerals The president of Chile had signed a decree that establishes the National Lithium Commission. The Commission is going to work into a new State Policy for lithium exploitation. Nowadays lithium in Chile is stated as strategic asset and cannot be exploited without a special permit from the government.
