Our high-performance TIOS battery-operated tools are among the best that the market has to offer: TIOS ER12 and TIOS ER15 for installing blind rivets, TIOS EN18 for threaded inserts, or the powerful TIOS EL18 for installing lockbolt systems: no matter which one you choose, every one of these tools has been developed for professional use under the most demanding of conditions. High performance, speed and reliability were all top priorities during the development process. Abundance of standard features The brushless, maintenance-free motor delivers the tool s speed and lasts at least twice as long as conventional brushed motors. The brushless technology also reduces the tool s energy consumption by around 20 per cent. Intelligent 18-volt battery management ensures that the riveting action is only triggered when the battery still has sufficient capacity. The tool s battery sliding mechanism ensures that a new battery can fitted in seconds. A uniform casing has been developed for all four tools. 8 TIOS battery-operated tools / Overview The technical features of the TIOS battery series at a glance Brushless motor The maintenance-free motor makes for quick and powerful installation. By incorporating control electronics and omitting brushes and collectors, the motor s service life is at least twice as long as that of comparable conventional motors. The motor requires around 20 per cent less energy. In conventional motors, the brushes and collectors are prone to wear and tear due to constant rotary motions: After the brushes have been changed once, the motor generally never reproduces its original performance. Mandrel break detection 1) The mandrel break detection feature enables users to optimise their process time by up to 75 per cent. The development of this patented technology also means that the battery-operated tool can install rivets as fast as a pneumatic installation tool. The tool constantly monitors the fastener and detects when a mandrel breaks. Once the break has been detected, the pulling unit immediately switches direction and returns to its starting position. This feature can be deactivated. 18 volt technology with intelligent battery management Trend-setting and well equipped to meet the demands of constantly developing battery technology. The intelligent battery management feature ensures that a rivet is only installed if the battery has enough capacity left. The battery management features ensures that the lithium-ion battery has a long life cycle and effectively guards against it becoming completely discharged. Insertable battery Sliding mechanism for rapid battery changes. Larger and double the number of contact surfaces ensure greater power transmission and lower voltage drop. The optimised battery pack configura- tion provides for even battery charge and discharge. It is virtually impossible for the battery to dislodge from the tool. Standard MAKITA batteries can also be used. Uniform casing for all battery-operated tools The casing is exceptionally durable and has an outstanding ergonomic grip as well as a protective hand guard and generously sized start button. The balanced weigh distribution makes for perfect handling. To hang the tool on a balancer, for example, two installation holes have been added to the casing for attaching a grommet. A further installation hole has been incorporated on the back of the grip handle casing for attaching a wrist strap. Precision spindle The precision spindle makes for fast installation. It is fitted with a sturdy, maintenance-free ballscrew to enable permanent operation. 8 Titgemeyer/10113EN0119/1

9 Overview / TIOS battery-operated tools Ultra bright LEDs These provide the perfect lighting for the area of installation. A gentle flick of the trigger is all that is required to put the LEDs in operating mode. They switch off again around 10 seconds after the installation process. Rapid change system 2) The rapid change system enables the jaws to be changed in no time at all. The lock nut and jaw case can be changed separately from the tool. Pressure-sensitive control 2) The pressure-sensitive control was developed to ensure that the parts are securely installed. The nose cap rotates around its axis, and the contact switch is triggered by pressure. The control ensures that the parts to be used are compressed. If the pressure-sensitive control is not switched on, it is not possible to perform any installation work. Optional accessories OLED display 3) The rivet installation tool comes with an OLED status display. The display provides the user with information about the state of the process and the rivet installation tool. Barcode scanner 3) A barcode scanner can be added to the tool. This enables parts and/or components to be allocated to the rivet installation results. The barcode scanner can also be used to activate programs that have been stored in the tool. The chosen program shows the number of rivets as well as the process parameters, tensile force, direction and speed required for the installation process. Up to 99 individual barcodes can be stored. Radio module for data transmission 3) Using the combined radio module, the wifi system (2.4 or 5 GHz), the channel and the transmission power can be directly set to a customer s individual needs via the software. We recommend setting it to 5 GHz as the transmission speed is twice as fast as that of the 2.4 GHz setting. More radio modules can also be selected that do not mutually interfere with each other. The TIOS ER12 has an insertion force of 12 kn and installs standard blind rivets of up to 6.4 mm in diameter as well as high-strength blind rivets of up to 4.8 mm in diameter. Its bigger brother, the TIOS ER15 also packs a lot of speed: The tool has an installation speed almost twice as fast as that of conventional battery-operated tools. 20 TIOS battery-operated tools / Software TIOS tool manager Programming software for the TIOS Control series After the tool has been hooked up to a PC using the USB cable, this software allows the user to set the parameters for the tool quickly and easily. Just three mouse clicks are required to connect the tool to the PC for it to be configured. Decisive advantage: the software is supplied free of charge with the tool. With few reference processes to think about, the limit values can be set quickly and easily. Both the service data and the displays for the operator can be set in just a few clicks. Barcodes and work steps can be set with little effort. Program overview The program overview is similar to that of other tools and also enables the user to gain a fast overview and easily select and set the desired programs. Just a few mouse clicks are needed to set all of the parameters and begin the installation work. Program settings The Program feature can be used to program basic settings, counting functions, evaluation and measurement windows as well as other additional options. The structured presentation of the different levels ensures that each installation job is easy to set. Evaluation definition directly from reference rivets Using several reference rivets (red), an evaluation definition can be created directly via the graphics window. To do so, the rivet installation processes are read and the evaluation windows (green) adapted to the results deemed to be good. Required data can be exported from the tool and then further processed or saved in Excel. The filter function makes it possible to evaluate the relevant data even more precisely. Notwithstanding this, any claims for compensation not explicitly agreed to in these terms and conditions are hereby excluded in the case of customers who are not consumers and, in the case of such customers, who are not consumers, at all events limited to the damage foreseeable at the time of concluding the contract as well as to the value of the delivered consignment. To the extent that our liability is excluded or limited, this shall extend accordingly to the personal liability of employees, legal representatives and vicarious agents. In all instances of gross negligence committed by vicarious agents, we shall solely be liable to customers, who are not consumers, to compensate for typically foreseeable damage. The statutory regulation governing the burden of proof shall remain unaffected. The aforementioned limitation of liability shall not apply to claims resulting from product liability, for damage resulting from injury to life, limb or health, or for damage to privately used property.
