2 MARPO GROUP It all started three decades ago in Piraeus, when Marpo Marine was founded. Initially the company was trading galvanic anodes and providing corrosion engineering services for the marine industry. Over the years, the company expanded its activities by manufacturing high quality Zinc and Aluminum galvanic anodes. In 2004 the company introduced a quality management system conforming to ISO 9001 and was certified by ABS. Today the company is producing in excess of 1000 tons of galvanic anodes annually, which are mainly exported to the European market. In addition, the company is trading galvanic anodes and providing cathodic protection services worldwide through associated companies in the USA, Europe, Singapore, China and UAE. In 2005, the Marpo Marine division dealing with Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) and Marine Growth Prevention Systems (MGPS), formed a new company and Worldwide Corrosion Services (WCS) was founded at Hellenicon, Greece. Today, the company is providing engineering services (support and design) for Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) and Marine Growth Prevention Systems (MGPS), for marine, offshore and onshore projects. WCS maintains a large stock of spare parts for a wide variety of systems and has a team of experienced engineers capable of designing or servicing any system. Spare parts and engineering services are available from Athens, Greece or through associated companies in the USA, Europe, Singapore, China and UAE The newest member of the Marpo Group is Marine Technical Solutions (MTS), which was founded in MTS is manufacturing MGPS consumables and spare parts such as Copper, Aluminum and ferrous MGPS anodes, as well as MGPS anode fittings (cofferdams etc), using high quality raw materials. 4 Marine Growth Prevention Systems Sea water cooling and firewater systems are critically dependent on freedom from blockages due to marine fouling, which can take the form of growths ranging from fungi and bacteria to simple plants and animals such as barnacles, mussels etc. Usually they enter cooling systems as larvae, settle on pipe or condenser walls and multiply. As a result, water flow is restricted and corrosion is accelerated due to different aeration. In severe cases of infestation pipes are completely blocked and engines have to be shut down for cleaning, causing delays and increasing maintenance cost. Our electrolytic anti-fouling systems can solve this problem by dissolving copper, which will generate a hostile environment for marine growths and aluminum or iron, which will slow down corrosion rates within the seawater network. This technology is well proven for over two decades and thousands of such systems are installed in ships or coastal installations. Installation is quite easy, regardless of whether it is a new-building or a retrofit, it can take place at any time, it requires limited maintenance, it is not energy consuming and it is environmentally-friendly since it is not using any chemicals. WCS can design a system based on specific data, supply all materials required, supervise installation and commission the system. 4

6 Impressed Current CathodicProtection Corrosion has always been a major problem in industry as well as every day activities and it is responsible for capital loss and delays in production. Although application of coatings has managed to limit metal deterioration, in cases where metallic structures are either buried or immersed, cathodic protection is an absolute necessity. Impressed Current Cathodic Protection Systems are the latest, most efficient and cost-effective method of protection against corrosion. Their excellent performance in sea-water has made them the ultimate solution for hull protection. The ICCP system comprises of a number of anodes, reference electrodes and a controller power unit. Reference electrodes are measuring the degree of protection rendered to the hull and the controller power unit is constantly adjusting the protective current output through anodes. By doing so, optimum protection is being achieved at all times, regardless of environmental, coating and draft conditions. WCS has a team of experienced engineers providing services ranging from log sheet evaluation, consultation, on-site servicing and system design. In addition a large stock of spare parts for all major makers is available in our Glyfada office. Worldwide service and spare parts supply is also available through associated companies in Europe, Middle East, Asia and America. 6

8 GALVANIC ANODES The alloy formulations shown on the side are the result of decades of development, have well proven effectiveness and stability in performance. Operators must insist that all anodes are certified and followed by spectrographic analysis to ensure good performance. Even minor variations in element or impurities concentrations can have a dramatic effect on the life span or effectiveness of the anodes. We will be happy to calculate the protective current demand for each project, supply the appropriate anodes for each application and provide distribution plans, ensuring that the CP system will provide optimum protection throughout the structure.
