Product developments A special centrifugal governor provided the breakthrough in 1920, with the first analogue governors being produced in The series of developments was rounded off by digital governors from 1990 onwards. Since 1994, HEINZMANN has developed and produced electronic fuel injection control units for electronic injection and control of common rail engines. In 1995 and 1996, HEINZMANN introduced digital control systems for ships, locomotives and industrial vehicles onto the market. HEINZMANN established itself as a partner to major engine manufacturers such as VW, BMW, MAK and Farymann, to name but a few. Since 2000, the company has developed a number of special solutions for Deutz, Liebherr and Daimler. From the year 2001, HEINZMANN began to deploy systems for gas engines, dual-fuel engines and generators. In the field of gas engine management, the current range of solutions includes air-fuel ratio control, speed control, ignition control, knock detection, misfire detection and integrated gas engine management systems. 6 Engine and turbine management Maritime applications For a number of decades, HEINZMANN and its subsidiaries REGULATEURS EUROPA and HEINZMANN Automation have been making a name for themselves in the marine sector. Their expertise covers digital and hydraulic marine propulsion control systems as well as complete common rail solutions. Generator, power management and automation systems are also addressed just as thoroughly. The new gas-powered seagoing ferry from Cuxhaven to Helgoland is decidedly eco-friendly, being the first newly built seagoing ferry in Germany to be operated using liquid natural gas. The gas-powered MAN Rollo generator sets for on-board electricity generation are controlled by an engine management and monitoring system from HEINZMANN. On a Swedish icebreaker, HEINZMANN succeeded in converting the propulsion engine of the ship from mechanical fuel injection to common rail injection. This customised solution is available for almost any four-stroke or two-stroke engine and delivers outstanding economic results in terms of engine optimisation, fuel saving and compliance with exhaust guidelines. Generator systems The Viking35 digital governor and the G-120 hydraulic actuator are proven products from REGULATEURS EUROPA. These control the Caterpillar/MaK 12VM43C engines of the AIDA Prima, the newest cruise ship in the AIDA fleet. The proportional actuators with a maximum torque of up to 340 Nm are two-stage reactionless hydraulic servo systems for optimum control of large, medium-speed engines. HEINZMANN Automation is equipping 28 patrol ships of the Taiwanese Navy with the SeaMACS ship automation system. These systems, which are being delivered in cooperation with the HEINZMANN subsidiary REGULATEURS EUROPA, feature an alarm system, monitoring, propulsion control and power management for the ships. HEINZMANN solutions for generator and power management cover systems for generator systems in stand-alone or parallel operation. Individual or multiple installations involving engines powered by diesel, gas, dual-fuel and heavy fuel oil are possible. Across the globe, our systems are installed in emergency power units for clinics, banks, airports, mines, ships and many other applications. The ARM22 Klaas Adriana, a seagoing vessel, is driven by a Caterpillar 3606 DI-TA engine. This engine is controlled by a hydraulic governor from REGULATEURS EUROPA. The 1115L governor is widely used in the marine sector and features an electric stepper motor as an actuator. Crossness STW is the largest sewage treatment works in the United Kingdom. It serves the majority of London and the Thames basin. Regulateurs Europa Ltd. provided a generator management system that controls the low and medium-voltage network of the entire works. 7 Engine and turbine management Rail traction control systems In the form of HEINZMANN and REGULATEURS EUROPA, the HEINZMANN Group features two long-standing specialists in the field of traction control for locomotives. These systems are available for both conventional and electronic fuel injection. They are deployed in diesel-electric and diesel-hydraulic locomotives around the world. With a flexible configuration and excellent control characteristics, they are popular solutions for retrofitting and modernisation. Gas, steam and water turbines HEINZMANN UK is a manufacturer and global provider of systems for turbine control, specialising in gas, steam and water turbines of all sizes and designs. In particular, HEINZMANN UK specialises in retrofitting mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic turbine control systems. The Australian subsidiary HEINZMANN Australia is a specialist in the field of steam turbines, providing a range that complements that of the British HEINZMANN subsidiary. The Si-TEC product line, which includes turbine and generator controllers, is a particular focus in this regard. HEINZMANN China has equipped a series of HXN3B locomotives, which are widely used as traction machines in China. Via two CAN ports, the installed MVC control system is used as an interface to the locomotive system and for signal processing with regard to external modules. In this context, the MVC also acts as a monitoring system for engine monitoring. The highquality system therefore contributes to the operational reliability and increased service life of the locomotives. Together with the BP Group, HEINZMANN UK is currently installing ATEX-certified control systems for fuel metering on Ruston TA 1750 gas turbines. The original mechanical control system, which was prone to faults, is being replaced with a cutting-edge digital system. This will take over the control of the system, including speed control, ignition control, start-up and switch-off procedures, fuel supply, lubricating oil supply and starting. CountryLink locomotives travel along the west coast of Australia. As with the British high-speed rail lines, their drive motors were also retrofitted with the Viking traction controller from REGULATEURS EUROPA. A remotely operated data recording and monitoring system was also installed in order to increase the operational reliability and enable status-based maintenance. The Si-TEC Xtend CGC-ET system has been installed on a 25 MW NG Metalurgica generator. The generator is driven by a steam turbine, serving a palm oil mill operated by Biopalma Castanheira in Para, Brazil, that manufactures biodiesel fuel. The Si-TEC system is deployed both for the 25 MW turbine/generator and for the diesel-powered emergency power units. It provides a comprehensive solution for power generation management and the possibility of remote monitoring with the help of the Si-TEC Data Hub. HEINZMANN has successfully converted Ganz locomotive traction controls in the 6 GM185V-VG-CR series to common rail operation. The motors received a complete HEINZMANN common rail system comprising a highpressure pump, electronic fuel injection and injectors for prechamber injection. The optimisation of the motor management helped achieve the stated goal of ensuring compliance with emission stages IIIA/IIIB. The 20 kw turbine, which is currently being modernised by HEINZMANN UK, entered operation 100 years ago. It generates electricity for the Welsh show caves attractions, making them self-sufficient. The process of converting to HEINZMANN components was performed with great caution in order to prevent any impairments to the overall impression of the historic system. The convenient installation was one of the reasons why the customer and operator wanted to use digital systems for the conversion

The patented electric motors from Perm Motor GmbH were added to the range in The brushless synchronous disc-type motor developed by Perm excels in comparison with a conventional electric motor, providing benefits including compact size, flat design, low weight with identical power and higher efficiency. A typical application in the agricultural sector is the deployment of HEINZMANN electric drives in a seeder. In this machine, direct current brush motors from the SL product line are used to drive the sowing mechanism. Over the course of many years, the SL motors have proven to be robust and reliable drives for challenging environments. The Ziesel tracked vehicle from Mattro Mobility Revolutions is an innovative, electrically driven workmobile and recreational vehicle. The drive comprises PMS disc-type motors from HEINZMANN, which are particularly flat and feature a high power density. They stand out as a result of their very good acceleration characteristics and wide ranges. The innovative, mobile electric lift system from the Swiss company HighStep is easy to transport while providing the full functionality of a climbing system. It is equipped with HEINZMANN disc-type motors with brushes. These are powerful, light, small and thus the ideal solution for this application. Customers such as Deutsche Post and Post Danmark rely on cargo bike drive systems from HEINZMANN.
