1 Two-Stroke Diesel & X-DF Engines Training Courses CMA CGM A valuable investment WinGD training courses are conducted by professional, STCW-95 certified instructors to improve the technical and operational skills of marine engineers and office personnel. With a deeper understanding of the engine and its applied technologies, engine operators will be able to enhance the performance of the engine by increasing its efficiency and reliability, by reducing maintenance costs and by lowering emission levels.

3 WinGD Training Centres, offer a variety of training courses covering the full portfolio of engine products and ranging from theoretical classroom courses through advanced operational ones to specialised courses on dedicated topics. Experienced trainers explain the theory and functionality of RT-flex, Generation X and the newest low-pressure dual-fuel X-DF engines using conventional training materials in the classroom and the modern W-Xpert engine simulation software. During advanced operational trainings, with the help of W-Xpert Full Mission Engine Room Simulators (FMS), trainers will guide participants through operational aspects of the main engines as well as demonstrate certain procedures and troubleshooting routines. The Full Mission Simulators (FMS) allow training of engine crew as one team to deal not only with WinGD two-stroke engines, but also with all engine room systems. This is one of the unique features of Training@ WinGD, Simply a better different. Specialised courses offer a high level of engine training. They are designed to improve the understanding of the engines and highlight dedicated topics, like WinGD engine performance optimisation, piston running theory or Engine Control Systems. Courses are given by STCW-95 certified and experienced Technical Experts. In addition to the W-Xpert and the FMS, in some locations, courses offer exercises on selected engine components and real hardware including hardware control system simulators. 3

4 WinGD Engines Theoretical Courses Course objectives After completion of this course attendees will be able to understand all systems of a WinGD common-rail electronically controlled two-stroke engine and functions of the main components. They will be able to operate the subject engines in a safe manner and to perform selected parameters change via the Operator s Interface. Target group The course is designed for marine engineers and operators who require knowledge about WinGD electronically controlled common-rail two-stroke engines. It is also highly recommended for technical managers and marine superintendents to gain a general overview of these engines. 5 WinGD Engines Operation Advanced Courses Course objectives Participants will be trained to understand all systems of a WinGD common-rail electronically controlled two-stroke engines and be acquainted with the main functions of the engine control system and common-rail components. After completing the course, the trainees will be able to operate subject engines safely and efficiently. They will also be able to perform adjustments to, and fault-finding on, the engine control system. By introducing proper maintenance methods, trainees will have a better understanding of the structure and principles of the key engine components, effectively helping them recognize and eliminate the cause of faults. Target group The course is designed for ship s engineers and superintendents operating WinGD two-stroke engines. 7 WinGD RT-flex / X-Engine Electrical & Automation Course Course objectives After completing the course, trainees will be able to understand all electrical & electronic hardware of a WinGD common-rail electronically controlled two-stroke engines. Target group The training is aimed at electrical engineers and supervisors who need familiarization with electrical and electronic hardware on WinGD common-rail two-stroke engines. Trainees should have prior knowledge of marine two-stroke, low-speed diesel engines and be able to read and understand technical drawings and documentation. Basic electrical electronic skills are an advantage. 9 W-Xpert Virtual Engine Room Simulator The W-Xpert Engine Room Simulator is a simulation software introducing WinGD solutions for merchant marine propulsion in an intuitive, attractive, efficient and easy to learn way. A powerful training software tool that enables ship owners and operators to remain flexible with their crews and competitive in the demanding and constantly changing marine business. The simulator is designed to train marine engineers and maritime academy students, and can be used by various types of marine training centres. All WinGD W-Xpert Simulators comply with the STCW Code Section A-1/12 and Section B-1/12 and ISM Code Section 6 and Section 8. Due to its low demand on computer performance, the WinGD W-Xpert simulation software can be installed and operated on any Windows based PC or lap top, and can be displayed on one or two monitors or projectors The W-Xpert SW can be used for self-learning on-board, in the office, or any location where only standard off-the-shelf computers are available. The main purpose of the W-Xpert simulator is to prepare trainees for actual engine room operations, more specifically: familiarization with the particular engine type, including the Engine Control System features and Operator s Interface familiarization with a generic engine room installation (electric power plant systems, compressed air systems, fresh and sea water cooling systems, lubricating and fuel oil systems, etc.) and how the installation affects operation of the main engine. The W-Xpert software contains high-fidelity simulations of an engine s thermodynamics. Its performance is based on mathematical modelling and is calibrated according to actual products. It deploys the proprietary, top of the range, 3D graphical visualisation, seamless transitions between 2D diagrams and 3D objects, and realistic sounds. The simulator provides a 3D model of an engine room with generic lay-out features to give a realistic, hands-on like experience of the onboard environment. 9

The simulator includes (among other features not listed here) the following virtual, yet fully functional systems: Remote Control System and Alarm Monitoring System allows the operator to control all propulsion system equipment parameters Intelligent Combustion Monitoring system for continuous pressure monitoring, analysis of NOx emission levels and specific fuel oil consumption (SFOC) Example screen from the W-Xpert X62 visualisation of the engine load characteristics and turbocharger performance including simulation of the surging margin (will be introduced on X92) Example screen from thew-xpert X62 simulator the virtual LDU-20 interface allows trainees to alter parameters. 11 functional Main Switchboard Example screen from the W-Xpert X72. Later this year a virtual walk around the Engine Room, controlled by a trainee, will be introduced (with X92 simulator). When using the W-Xpert simulator, the trainee has the same access to the engine user parameters as with the real thing. Each action, the response to a simulated failure, attempts to optimise the engine s performance, or fault finding by trialor-error, either right or wrong, results in realistic consequences. A built-in scenario editor allows the set-up of individual cases within the limits of the simulated faults covered. The virtual Electric Power Plant is equipped with a modern Power Management System which enables automatic, as well as fully manual control of the generators. All scenarios are possible: blackouts, synchronisation, effect of reverse power, etc. All machinery in the virtual Engine Room is interactive and live allowing the training of complex operational normal and abnormal scenarios. All Engine and Engine Room systems are shown as diagrams and 3D visualisations with the possibility to control them via the simulator screen.
