The restaurant is actually located at the corner of South Bay Rd and Lawrence Rd in North Syracuse just north of Northern Lights Shopping Center and a little south of the airport. We ll have the back room and as we re accustomed to, our waitress Carrie -- will be available at 5:30 for dinner. They have lots of new items on the menu check them out at Also if you have an AARP card and show it to them with your bill you can get a discount of 20%. President s Column Another month has gone by and winter is still with us, another 3 inches of snow last night. Spring may be officially here, but it sure doesn't seem to be getting any closer. Oh well, enough of the weather report. The next few weeks should keep us all busy getting our cars (toys) ready for cruisin, car shows, and food. Another sign of Spring is the re opening of the Candy Store in Port Byron, Bumpers. Norwich car show, will be here before you know it. May 15th is the day for our tour to the Rochester area. This is a private car collection at two separate locations. At the first stop well will have Coffee and Donuts and after the second location, we ll stop for a light lunch. We have invited the Acorns, a corvair club from the Rochester area to join us as our guests for the day. It sounds like a fun time and we are hoping for a nice turnout. Our annual Recall will be June 10th, 11th and 12th this year. Please note that this date is one week later this year. Our special guests this year will Cal and Joan Clark from Clark's. This will be a little getaway vacation for them. On Saturday afternoon, they will set up their computers for about 4 hours for on line orders. I have also received word from 3 or 4 other vendors who will have parts for sale. Any other vendors who would like to attend, can contact me at pdomser1@yahoo.com. I missed the tech session hosted by Tim and Rita because of sickness. I hope every enjoyed themselves, thanks to the Colson's for the day. 3 Support Me in Tour de Cure! My name is Peter O kussick on June 12th my two daughters and I will be riding in the tour de cure, we thought it would be a fun way to raise money to help a good cause. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 12 years ago and I am on an insulin pump. This disease is a challenge and a struggle to live with every day. It is a very big life style change and not everyone can accept that change easily. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. There are 23.6 million Americans living with diabetes, a disease that is outpacing heart disease, cancer and AIDS. If we don't act now, one in three children born in the year 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime. My goal is to raise at least $ I have decided to ride the 62-mile course. I am asking for your help. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Diabetes Association fund critical research for a cure. We've received confirmation that Cal and Joan Clark will be attending our Recall and will be set up in the hospitality room to take orders. We've also arranged for an expanded hospitality room so we'll have plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. I checked with the Hilton Garden today and the reservations are already coming in. Be sure to call with your reservation early and be sure to mention it's for the Corvair club to get your discounted rate. As much as I hate to say this word ---- the auto cross parking lot still had some ( yeek! ) snow on it! However, we'll bring our shovels and make sure it's free of snow on June 10th. And... it has to be because the VW club is coming to try and beat the pants off our Corvairs in the Autocross and Funkana! Are we going to let that happen? Get ready guys and gals -- the race is on! As if that won't be enough be sure to bring your swimsuits. The hot tub and swimming pool looked warm and inviting today and overlooks the show field. 4 ACTIVITIES Hi everyone! Business meetings are now at Denny s, 102 Lawrence Rd, N Syr on the first Thursday of each month. The meeting will start at 7:00 but they ll have a waitress available for us from 5:30 so we can enjoy dinner before. We will have our own room and they will give separate checks. April 7th Business meeting Denny s April 17th Repair session at Gloria and Kevin Fear s, 6899 Kassonta Dr, Jamesville to get the club trailer back into shape. Come at noon and, of course, we ll have one of our Corvair feasts after the work is done. Please bring a dish to pass. We ve invited Acorns to join us for a tour to a private car collector. The time is being finalized with our host but so far we anticipate leaving Arby s in Weedsport at 9:00. If there s a particular subject that would be of interest to you please let Tim or I know so we can try to run with it. This takes ADVANCE planning so PLEASE try to let us know early enough. Attention owners of 4-doors and wagons: Mark Corbin has been collecting information on and building a registry of 4-door and station wagon model Corvairs. Unfortunately, he suffered a computer drive malfunction and lost most of the registry data collected so far. He would appreciate any information (new or old) on 4-doors and wagons that you might have. 5 2011 CNYCC OFFICERS Kitchen Corner Carrot Cheesecake Bars ¼ c butter, melted 1 ½ c graham cracker crumbs 1 c sugar, divided 1 ½ tsp cinnamon, divided 3 ( 8 oz ) pkgs cream cheese, softened 1 tsp vanilla ¾ c sour cream 3 eggs ¾ c finely shredded carrots 1 ½ c cool whip Mix butter, crumbs, ¼ c sugar and ½ tsp cinnamon. Press onto bottom of 9x13 pan. Bake 10 mins. Beat cream cheese, vanilla, and remaining sugar and cinnamon until blended. Add sour cream; mix well. Add eggs one at a time, beating each until just blended. Stir in carrots, spread over crust. Bake at to 50 mins or till center is almost set. Cool completely. Serve topped with cool whip. Easter Eggs 12 oz butterscotch chips ½ c peanut butter 1 c Spanish peanuts 5 oz Chinese noodles Melt chips, add peanut butter and blend. Add peanuts and Chinese noodles and blend well. Form into nests on waxed paper on cookie sheet. Put jelly beans or M&M s in center of each. 6 Secretarty s report March 3, 2011 President Phil Domser called the meeting to order at 7:00. Secretary report-- motion made by Sherry and seconded by Pete to approve as printed in the fan. Motion approved. Treasurer report-- Kevin Fear gave an update for the checking and savings accounts. Motion made by Tina and seconded by Dave. Motion approved. Old Business- - recall Dave reminded everyone again that we need to get ads sold for our Recall program; this is a good moneymaker. We are also in need of Sponsors. Door prizes are also still needed we currently have 16 to date. Recall plaques- - Phil shared an example of the plaques. Each plaque will cost approximately $5.00 a piece. The plaque will be 8 x 10 with a 4 x 6 picture attached with gold screws. Phil also mentioned that he could apply a clear tape that will have 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd places on the picture. Phil will bring a completed plaque to the next meeting. Pictures will be taken by Cheryl Randino and can be processed at Wal-Mart with a 1hour turn over. Doug will order dash Placard s. discounts. The Clark s have stated they will attend the Recall event, and will also send out postcards announcing the event and offer Autocross - - will Autocross be possible this year. The Cobblestone Crossing will play one hour before the Saturday night banquet at 6:00 p.m. New Business- - Gloria Fear brought the idea of 50/50 raffle at the meetings to help with donations and also needed items for the club. Dave made a motion to institute this idea and Sherry seconded the motion. Motion approved, and tickets where sold. Three for $2.00 or $1.00 each. Rita pulled the winning # for the evening. The winner was Pete O Kussick $ Phil discussed the purchase of his new toy The Whale. It was delivered yesterday. Pete told every one of his up coming participation in the Tour De Cure ride for Diabetes. Up coming events - - March 20th Tech session at Tim and Rita s 1396 Daboll Rd, Memphis, NY. Come about 10:00 and then we will have our buffet following that. Bring a dish to pass. 7 TIM S TECH TIME AND RAMBLIN S GREETINGS AGAIN, from the little shop in Memphis, NY. Well this winter is sure dragging us all down! I sure hope it is over soon. The tech session seemed to go well. This time it was totally unplanned, just a few cleaned up parts, and failed parts to show off. I did a quick take apart, and put together of a differential, showed some carburetor differences, starter, alternator, generator things,2 fuel pump housings with 2 different failures, one probably was bad from new, and other little things about oil and gas. I have the motor back in Phil s loadside, looking great. Now I am making repairs to the wiring harness, replacing axles and u joints, redoing all of the brake system, removing the heater and installing a gas heater (after rebuilding it!), and a host of other details. This has become a large project. The last few weeks, I have also looked at 2 rampsides for sale. The second one sold instantly. The first one is a nice one, but it needs a little (not serious at all ) work. It is being sold for an estate. If you are interested, get with me, and I will explain how to get in touch with the person taking care of the cars for sale (model A also). There are other motors and parts there also, but not listed yet. I am not sure yet if I can get my cars in good enough shape to use much this year, but I will try to sneak them in between Phil s problems. He needs a new torque converter in the blue Rampy, and both carbs on the Beatrice cleaned up ( we think) after he got full tank of bad gas out west. NEVER a dull moment We expect Ron to be May 1, and open his shop up. There are a lot of parts for sale there, and a lot of seats, and body parts out back he wants to clean out as soon as possible. This stuff has been inside a long time, so most of it is way better than most you find. He also has some decent looking Corsa and other dashes there. I have been there pawing thru a veritable mountain of old wiring harness for wire and connectors to modify others with. The scope of his goodies can only be understood by going to look at it. There are also a lot of desirable motor and transaxle parts there. I am getting a pair of heads ready to send off for modifications like the ones in Phil s loadside. Then I will be working towards a new super motor for my rampside. I built a new powerglide, and differential for it also. The complete powertrain that is in rampy now is going into the crampside. I have some better doors for it now, and a few other neat trinkets. When the weather warms up, I hope to clean out a few parts I do not need. Stay tuned for occasional posts of items I need to sell. My other hobby (Ham Radio) is going to need some time soon also. I must get antennas up, and a club radio system running here ASAP, after weather is better. I am not ready to freeze my butt off working outside yet. I hope someone buys the 8 door greenbrier project from Phil soon, I will not be able to work it in my schedule for YEARS. He has a very good running motor for it, I just went all thru this winter. If you have any interest in a 4 carb motor project, Phil has an extra setup including the heads all redone and adapters WELDED on, the kit, which has the linkage, fuel lines, and all brackets and instructions. He also has the full set of 4 pro made (Wolf enterprises ) Carbs new in the box to go with it, or sell separately. Contact him for details. He also would like to sell the rare 8 door greenbrier project. I hope he does, because if not, guess who will probably end up putting it together.so please talk with him about it! 10 Classified Hey, I talked with Ken Falls, he purchased the 2 corvair convertibles from Pete down close to Conyers. SOOOOOOOO... Ken now has For Sale his 64 Corvair Sypder Conver and the Station Wagon. The Sypder has the dash and marking but different engine. He has not checked the Vin to verify it's a Sypder.
