May 6, 2014 Campaign no.: Subject:Maverick : Driven Pulley Screw Replacement No YEAR MODEL MODEL NUMBER SERIAL NUMBER Can-Am Maverick Series All Refer to the Knowledge Center PROBLEM Driven Pulley Screw The driven pulley screw could loosen in some riding conditions. As a product improvement, BRP has installed a second CVT air inlet on all Maverick 2UP models produced after June This second CVT air inlet can help reduce heat inside CVT cover on vehicles used in extreme riding conditions. SOLUTION Driven Pulley Screw Update the driven pulley of all units with the kit (P/N ). Install a second air inlet on CVT cover (P/N ) only if you meet all of the following conditions. The second air inlet has not been installed at factory The vehicle is used in at least one of the conditions listed below The vehicle is registered in one of the regions listed below. IMPORTANT This second CVT air inlet upgrade is not meant for all units and should be done only for units located in certain regions AND that will be used in extreme riding conditions. Example of extreme conditions: Desert riding Long distance high speed Heavy load on drive system (e.g.: dunes or mud) For American and Canadian Dealers The regions included in the campaign are: Alabama Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Florida Printed in Canada. BRP will activate the unit in the campaign and send you a notification by once the case is closed. When receiving this confirmation, you will be able to claim this campaign. For all other dealers, order the tool through regular channels. PROCEDURES Driven Pulley Driven Pulley Removal For driven pulley removal procedure, refer to appropriate subsection in shop manual. Driven Pulley Installation Clean the outer surface of the countershaft with a clean rag. NOTE: There is NO threadlocker used in this procedure. NOTICE Clean the inner thread of countershaft using XPSBRAKESANDPARTSCLEANER (P/N ) or XPS BRAKES AND PARTS CLEANER (USA) (P/N ) and small brush. Blow compressed air to remove all residue. NOTICE Clean threads of the stud end [P1] that will screw in the countershaft using a small brush, paper towel and XPS BRAKES AND PARTS CLEANER (P/N ) or XPS BRAKES AND PARTS CLEANER (USA) (P/N ). Blow compressed air to remove all residue. tbg _a COUNTERSHAFT END OF STUD Hand tighten the threaded stud [P1] in the countershaft. Use M10 x 1.5 nuts [T4] tightened one on the other as tightening device for the threaded stud [P1]. NOTICE Do not use nuts [P2] and [P3] suppliedinthekit. tbg _a 1. Countershaft outer surface 2. Countershaft inner threads WARRANTY CAMPAIGN / 7

4 tbg _a Install countershaft retainer tool [T3]. tbg _a STUD END RECEIVING NUT NOTICE Clean threads of M10 nuts [P2] and [P3] using a small brush, paper towel and XPS BRAKES AND PARTS CLEANER (P/N ) or XPS BRAKES AND PARTS CLEANER (USA) (P/N ). Blow compressed air to remove all residue. tbg _a Tighten the threaded stud to specification. Threaded stud 45 N m ± 2 N m (33lbf ft ± 1lbf ft) Remove both M10 x 1.5 nuts [T4] from the stud. Remove countershaft retainer tool [T3]. NOTICE Clean threads of stud end that will receive the M10 nuts [P2] and [P3] using a small brush, paper towel and XPS BRAKES AND PARTS CLEANER (P/N ) or XPS BRAKES AND PARTS CLEANER (USA) (P/N ). Blow compressed air to remove all residue. tbg _a tbg _a Apply LOCTITE 767 (ANTISEIZE LUBRICANT) (P/N ) on countershaft outer surface. tbg Install the driven pulley parts separately. Pulley cam Pulley shaft 4 / WARRANTY CAMPAIGN

5 Spring Inner and outer sheaves. NOTICE Be careful to push the pulley straight in and not at an angle to avoid damaging the bushing. During installation, these important factors must be respected: Cam must be engaged on countershaft splines. Cam must be engaged with clutch sheave. Reuse the large washer previously removed with the pulley screw, and install the driven pulley nut [P2]. tbg _a Step 1: Pulley cam Step 2: Pulley shaft tbg _a tbg Tighten the driven pulley nut [P2] to specification. Driven pulley nut STEP 1 20 N m ± 1 N m (15lbf ft ± 1lbf ft) [P2] STEP ± 5 Remove the clutch holder tool [T2]. Hand tighten the counter nut [P3] against the pulley nut [P2]. Hold the driven pulley nut [P2] and tighten the counter nut [P3] to specification. Counter nut 35 N m ± 1 N m (26 lbf ft ± 1 lbf ft) tbg Firmly push on pulley to compress the spring. 6 CVT Cover Installation Install the center top screw first. Tighten the CVT cover screws as per following sequence. tbg In order to confirm the cam is in the right position, measure the length of the stud out of the counter nut. If the distance between counter nut and the end of the stud is within specification, the pulley and cam are properly installed. Otherwise the cam might not correctly engaged. Remove the clutch except stud, and reinstall. If distance is still out of specification, please consult the TST # on Knowledge Center for instructions. tmo _a CVT COVER TIGHTENING SEQUENCE CVT Cover screws Reinstall all removed parts. 7N m ± 0.8N m (62 lbf in ±7lbf in) WARRANTY Submit a warranty claim using the following information: For claiming procedure, refer to the DEALER/DIS- TRIBUTOR WARRANTY GUIDE. Click in the Repair check box. tbg MEASUREMENT Less than flush with the counter nut 0to3.6mm 3.7 mm and more ACTION RefertoTST#81274on Knowledge Center Installation is good. Install the drive belt to complete the procedure Refer to TST # on Knowledge Center mbg _ben Install drive belt.
