1 Grade 9 Automotive Technology Term 1 1 Day Safety Training and 1 Day Exploratory Identify hazardous waste and hazardous materials and the safety necessary when handling it. Identify flammable materials and how to safely handle it. Describe what an MSDS consists of and where it is located. Explain how to use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire. Remove and install a wheel from a vehicle and torque to specifications. Mount and dismount a tire using a rim clamp style tire machine. Properly set up an above ground twin post lift. Raise and lower the drive on alignment rack and rack jacks. Jack up and secure a vehicle using a hydraulic floor jack and jack stands. 2 Grade 9 Automotive Technology Term 2 1 Week Exploratory and Final Shop Pick Work Safely in the shop using skills they acquired during the 1 day and 1 week explore. Remove and install a wheel from a vehicle and torque to specifications. Dismount and mount a tire using a Coates style tire machine. Dismount and mount a tire using a rim clamp style tire machine. Properly set up an above ground twin post lift. Raise and lower the drive on alignment rack and rack jacks. Jack up and secure a vehicle using a hydraulic floor jack and jack stands. Light, extinguish and properly drain an Oxygen/Acetylene torch set. Resurface a brake rotor and drum using the Aamco brake lathe.
