9 s: 2-1/2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 & 12 Type: Combination Butterfly/Venturi with Flange Series: CBVF Model CBVF is a combination butterfly valve and flanged style venturi. The carbon steel venturi connects to standard ANSI Class 150 pound flanges, and is combined with a lug type butterfly valve for throttling. The cast iron butterfly valve has a combination infinite/10 position memory stop plate, a one piece disc/shaft, a triple shaft bearing, an aluminum bronze disc for sizes 2 1/2 8, a nickel plated disc for the 10 and 12 sizes, and an EPDM standard liner. It also comes with two pressure/temperature ports. 17 Venturi Style Manual Balancing Valves GENERAL INFORMATION, INSTALLATION, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS GENERAL INFORMATION 1. The Hays Venturi Style Manual Balance Valves are manual balancing devices. 2. Clean the lines of all foreign material, (solder flux, pipe scale, dirt, thread chips etc.). 3. Air should be eliminated from the system prior to startup to assure quiet operation and freedom from water hammer. 4. The Manual Balancing Valves may be installed in the line horizontally, vertically or any angle in between. DO NOT install valve with ports facing down, as debris from the line can clog the port, and may cause leakage. Straight sections of line upstream or downstream of the Hays valve are necessary for proper operation. Standard reducing bushings may be directly connected to the Hays valve if required. 5. All Hays Manual Balancing Valves are marked with direction of flow and venturi Cv. THE FLOW ARROW MUST POINT IN THE DIRECTION OF FLOW FOR PROPER OPERATION. 6. Hays valves are factory assembled, individually calibrated and are warranted to be accurate within 2% of predicted flow as shown on the Venturi Chart. INSTALLATION 1. Forged brass, Manual Balancing Valves have their end connections formed to ANSI Std B16.22, or B requirements, and are intended for use in Building Services Piping meeting the requirements of ASME B The Temperature/Pressure Rating of the Solder Joint is dependent upon the type of solder used. Solders with melting temperatures in excess of 465 deg F. are not to be used as internal seal damage may result. ANSI Std B16.22 Pressure Ratings should be reviewed prior to sweating. 2. The outside of the tubing, and the inside of the fitting are to be mechanically cleaned and then lightly coated with solder flux. The tube is then inserted one diameter into the fitting, and the CENTRAL PORTION OF THE VALVE BODY WRAPPED WITH A WET RAG OR A HEAT SINK. The union on the Hays Manual Balance Valve is to be disconnected and its O Ring removed to prevent heat damage. The ball valve must be in the fully open position during soldering, and never in a partially open position. 3. Heat may be applied, either to the tubing or to the end of the fitting so as to achieve solder flow. When the parts have achieved the necessary temperature, solder is to be added to the joint and the joint allowed to cool. Both ends may be sweated at the same time. The heat is to be applied for the shortest time possible. The internal parts of the are capable of continuous use at 225 deg. F. but will be quickly damaged at higher temperatures. Care should also be taken on vertical assemblies to prevent solder from dripping into the valve. 4. Heat discoloration from the sweating operation should not extend to the major diameter of the valve body and should not cause damage to the label. 5. If chlorinated flux has been used, all parts are to be flushed thoroughly to avoid premature corrosion failure. 6. Valves with pipe threads are to have thread sealant applied to the male threads, starting with the second or third thread from the end, and torque the connection to 75 in pounds per inch of pipe size, minimum. 18 OPERATION 1. For optimum operation, air entrainment in the system must be eliminated. The flow control valve must remain filled with fluid. The system must be clean and free of foreign materials. 2. The Hays Manual Balancing Valves must only be used with fluids that are compatible with, Copper, Brass, and EPDM materials. The temperature during operation must be limited to the range of 32 F to 225 F. 3. Valves specified for fluids other than water will be so marked and a special factory calibrated flow chart supplied for their use, taking the specific fluid s properties into consideration. See Hays Glycol Tech Tip. 4. Attach ¼ test probes to the two pressure/temperature ports to obtain differential pressure and temperature for flow readings and balancing. A pressure sensor with a wet, differential pressure transducer providing readouts in inches of water is essential if the accuracy of the manual valve is to be realized. Compare this reading with the Venturi Chart for the Venturi Cv installed in the valve. 5. Determine the required differential pressure from the Venturi Chart for the desired flow rate. Mark this pressure on the balancing sheet. Throttle the ball valve until this value is achieved. 6. Loosen the memory stop on the ball valve handle, and rotate the stop, counterclockwise until it rests on the valve body stop. Tighten the memory stop nut, being careful not to move the ball valve handle. If the valve has a calibrated dial, record the indicated reading so that the valve may be reset without gauges, in the event the memory stop reading is lost. MAINTENANCE 1. General maintenance is not required for Hays Manual Balancing Valves, however if the system experiences large amounts of pipe scale due to poor water conditions, as sometimes is found in older or retrofit systems, some maintenance may be required. 19 Mesurmeter Venturi Flow Meters for Flow Verification INSTALLATION, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS GENERAL INFORMATION: OPERATION The Hays VFM series devices are flow meters that operate based on the venturi principle. The pressure reading across the venturi is actually higher than the pressure impact on the system. To prevent clogging of the venturi and ports the lines should be cleaned of all foreign material, (solder flux, pipe scale, dirt, thread chips etc.). Air should be eliminated from the system prior to startup to assure quiet operation and freedom from water hammer. Hays VFM Venturi Flow Meters are ominipoise, they will operate correctly in any orientation (in the line horizontally, vertically or any angle in between). Installation with ports facing down is not recommended, as debris from the line can clog the port, and may cause leakage. Straight sections of line approximately 10 inside diameters of the pipe upstream of the VFM and 5 diameters downstream are recommended for maximum flow reading accuracy. Standard reducing bushings may be directly connected to the Hays valve if required. All Hays Manual Balancing Valves are marked with direction of flow and CV. THE FLOW ARROW MUST POINT IN THE DIRECTION OF FLOW FOR PROPER OPERATION. For optimum operation entrainment of air in the system must be eliminated. The flow control valve must be fully filled with fluid. The system must be clean and free of foreign materials. The Hays VFM must only be used with fluids that are compatible with Brass and EPDM materials. The temperature during operation must be limited to the range of 32 F to 225 F. The use of fluids having a viscosity or specific gravity different from that of water will require calibration. See Hays Fluid Controls Glycol Tech Tip. Attach 1/4" test probes to the two pressure / temperature ports to obtain differential pressure and temperature readings for flow calculation 1 balancing. A pressure sensor capable of providing readouts in inches of water is essential if the accuracy of the VFM is to be realized. To measure the flow rate, find the Y axis line corresponding to the pressure read on the pressure sensor on the Venturi Chart, for the Cv installed in the valve. The flow rate will be the Value on the X axis where the pressure crosses the Cv line for that valve. As an optional method, refer to the Hays Fluid Controls Applicationi of Manual Valves & Venturi Flow Meter Tech Tip for a simple calculation that will provide the volumetric flow rate of fluid. INSTALLATION All VFM series valves are brass, with end connections formed to ANSI Std. B16.22 or B requirements, and are intended for use in Building Services Piping meeting the requirements of ASME B Valves with pipe threads are to have thread sealant applied to the male threads, starting with the second or third thread from the end, and torque the connection to 75 foot pounds per inch of pipe size, minimum. 20 MAINTENANCE General maintenance is not required for Hays Venturi Style Manual Balancing Valves or VFM, however if the system experiences large amounts of pipe scale due to poor water conditions, some maintenance may be required. This occurs most often in older or retrofit systems. Cleaning fluids and methods used for typical Brass valves are appropriate for the VFM. The diameter and shape of the venturi are key to its operation. Any changes to these characteristics will alter the flow readings. Provisions should be made to keep the system clean. 21 Balancing Valve Performance Specifications-Summary AUTOMATIC & MANUAL BALANCING VALVES Automatic Flow Control Valves shall be factory set to a rated flow, and shall automatically control the flow to within ±10% of the rated value over a 40 to 1 differential pressure, operating range, (2 to 80 psid¹). Valves shall have the capabilities and pressure ratings as indicated and conform to this specification. Manual Flow Control valves are Venturi type balance valves with a Venturi insert. Various Cv s per valve size. Working Pressure Rating shall be per ASME B31.9 Building Services Piping. Valve bodies are suitable for 600 psig. FLOW CONTROL Hays Automatic Balance Assembly shall include one or more precision sculptured brass or polyphenylsulfone orifi with an elastomeric diaphragm. Each automatic balancing valve will automatically control the flow rate to within ±10% of its rated flow, over a temperature range of 32 to 225 F, and a pressure differential range of 2 to 80 psid¹. Flow rates available from to 36,000 gpm. Flow rates vary by model number and size. Noise created by the valve shall not exceed the following limits at a Reynolds number of 5,000 and inlet velocity of 1.4 ft/s when tested per Hays Fluid Controls Specification Number : Below 8 psi the noise generated by the valve shall be less than 24dBA pressure level, 35 dba power level. Unit sound pressure levels at the 1/3 octave band level shall not exceed ambient sound pressure levels by more than 3 dba. Above 8 psi and at or less than 16 psi the overall sound power level when A-weighted shall not exceed 35 dba, the overall sound pressure level shall not exceed 25 dba. Maximum 1/3 octave sound pressure levels shall not exceed those of line A in Figure 1. Above 16 and less than 32 psi the overall sound power level when A-weighted shall not exceed 35 dba, the overall sound pressure level shall not exceed 25 dba. Maximum 1/3 octave sound pressure levels shall not exceed those of line B in Figure 1. Above 32 and less than 48 psi the overall sound power level when A-weighted shall not exceed 35 dba, the overall sound pressure level shall not exceed 25 dba. Maximum 1/3 octave sound pressure levels shall not exceed those of line C in Figure 1. ¹ At low differential pressure the flow area required to achieve higher flow can exceed the flow area available for the respective series. 22 Hays Fluid Controls specification requires that testing is conducted in accordance with ANSI (American National Standards Institute) S , Acoustics Determination of Sound Power Levels of Noise Sources Using Sound Pressure Precision Method for Reverberation Rooms. The laboratory facility shall have been qualified in accordance with ANSI Standard S The measurement space shall be qualified in accordance with the test standard. Equipment shall be mounted using isolators on rigid base. The rigid base shall be at least four times the weight of the test specimen and all attached hard plumbing. All plumbing not part of the device under test shall be installed and treated to minimize acoustic contribution. The connection from the inlet tube to the water source shall be a hose made from a resilient material such that vibrations from the flow/pressure source to the device under test are minimized. Sweat fittings1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1 &1-1/4 inch shall be suitable for 600 psig. Working pressure rating per ASME B31.9 Building Services Piping. Threaded fittings 1/2 through 1½ inch shall be suitable for 600 psig. Working pressure rating per ASTM A53B for threaded joint, type extra weight, of the pipe size indicated (For most Building Services Applications, ANSI Class 125 rating). Flow rates from 0.5 to 25.0 gpm will have a differential pressure operating range of 2 to 80 psid¹. Flow rates shall be field changeable without breaking the piping connections. For flow velocities exceeding 7.0 feet per second, pressure drop will be proportionally higher. ¹At low differential pressure the flow area required to achieve higher flow can exceed the flow area available for the respective series. 23 INLINE Threaded Valves ½, ¾, 1, 1¼,1½ inch NPT valve body, shall be constructed of hot forged brass UNS C37700 per ASTM B-283 latest revision, or UNS C36000 per ASTM B 16 latest revision. These valve bodies are suitable for 600 psig. Threaded valves 1, 1-1/4, 1½, & 2, NPT, valve body may be constructed of gray iron. 2, 2-1/2 & 3 may be constucted of ductile iron per ASTM A , valve grade cast iron per ASTM class B or UNS C84400 cast semi-red brass, with inch size pipe thread fittings per ASME/ANSI B1.20.1, and B31.9. These valve bodies are suitable for 400 psig. Working Pressure rating per ASTM A53B for threaded joint type, standard weight, of the pipe size indicated. (For most applications, ANSI Class 125 rating.). Flow rates from 0.5 to 225 gpm will have a differential pressure operating range of 2 to 80 psid¹. For flow velocities exceeding 7.0 feet per second, pressure drop will be proportionally higher. FLANGED 2, 2 ½, 3, & 4, INCH Valve body shall be constructed of carbon steel. Valve bodies are suitable for 400 PSIG. Flanges are welded wrought steel per ANSI , or MSS-SP lb. Working pressure rating per ANSI Class 150. Flow rates from 9.0 to 225 gpm will have a differential pressure operating range of 2 to 80 psid¹. 35 Application Of Manual Valves Theory All manual balance valves on the market today have two functions, flow regulation by a valve or restrictor and flow measurement. The flow measurement function is used to adjust the position of the valve portion to provide the required flow at a given pressure. Many of the manual balance valves on the market today consist of a valve with an indicator showing position. This position is then compared to a chart to determine a value for the flow coefficient (C V ) and the flow is determined based on this value. These valves do provide an ability to balance a system. They suffer from difficulty in use and higher than necessary system pressure drops. The Hays Manual Balance valve simplifies the user s process by providing only a constant value for the CV and due to its design minimizes the pressure drop penalty on the system. The Hays Manual Balance valve is a Venturi style device. The pressure measurements across the Venturi do not represent the normal pressures measured in the system. The pressures measured across the Venturi are actually higher than the drop in pressure across the entire device. Since the power consumed in pumping is proportional to system pressure drop a Venturi style meter can help to reduce system operating costs. The basis for the design of a venture style meter is the drop in pressure that occurs when a fluid is accelerated. Mathematically the energy equation, sometimes referred to as Bernoulli s equation, expresses the relation between velocity and pressure as follows (including only the applicable terms): P1 1 2 P2 1 2 kl V1 = + V2 + V2 ρ 2 ρ 2 2 Where: P 1 is the pressure at station 1 P 2 is the pressure at station 2 ρ is the density of the fluid V 1 is the velocity at station 1 V 2 is the velocity at station 2 K L1-2 is the loss factor between station 1 and 2 (negligible for 1 to 2) The cross section of a typical Venturi is shown below: Applying the energy equation to this Venturi will give a great deal of insight. At the entrance, station 1 above, the fluid enters at a low velocity and high pressure. The upstream tap measures the fluid pressure at this location. The cross section is reduced to the minimum at section 2. Since there is less area for the flow the velocity of the flow at station 2 must be higher than at station 1. When this happens in order for the energy at station 2 to be the same as at station 1 the pressure must drop. The low pressure tap on a Venturi is placed at station 2. This lowering of the pressure provides a large pressure reading that can be converted to a flow rate. After the fluid passes through station 2 the cross section of the fluid passage is gradually increased such that no separation of the flow from the sides of the passage will occur. This condition is held as long as possible. Station 3 represents the full diameter of the pipe. The energy equation may also be written between stations 2 and 3 as follows: R01 App. of Manual Valves

36 P2 1 + V ρ = P3 1 + V ρ k + 2 L2 3 V 2 3 This time the fluid will start out in station 2 with a low pressure and high velocity. As the cross section opens up the velocity is reduced. As the velocity goes down the pressure increases to maintain a constant level of energy. The increase in pressure is referred to as pressure recovery. Pressure recovery only occurs when the angle of the expansion between stations 2 and 3 is 15 or less. For angle greater than 15 the loss factor, K L2-3, is proportional to the diameter ratio raised to the fourth power. It is a result of the existence of an expansion section that gives the Venturi a significantly lower impact on system pressure drop compared to competitive meters. An examination of most competitive meters will show that the end of the small cross section expands directly into a larger area imparting a major loss to the fluid stream. Application Simplified versions of the equations in the theory section above are used for practical applications of the Venturi. The C V equation relates the flow through a device to the pressure drop. The equation is expressed as follows: Q = CV ΔP Where: ΔP is the pressure difference measured in psi Q is the flow rate of fluid in gpm C V is the flow coefficient of the valve Two values for C V are available for the Venturi. The Venturi C V (C V,Venturi or just C V ) relates the flow through the valve to the pressure difference measured across the valve ports. This C V is used in the field balancing a distribution to calculate flow. The recovered C V (C V,Recovered ) is used to determine the impact on system pressure caused by having the Venturi in the line. There are no pressure ports at which this pressure can be measured except in a test lab. This value is used by an engineer to determine the pressure drop in a flow distribution system. For the best accuracy it is recommended that the installation of a clean, smooth straight section of pipe upstream of the valve ten times the internal diameter and downstream for five internal diameters of the pipe be made. The Venturi will retain accuracy without the straight inlet and outlet sections provided that a smooth continuous flow of fluid is upstream of the valve. Use with fluids other than water or differing temperatures The Venturi may be used with fluids other than water at temperatures between 33 F and 225 F. Fluids must be compatible with brass and EPDM to not damage the Venturi. To determine the flow of fluids other than water use this modified version of the C V equation: ΔP Q = CV s G R01 App. of Manual Valves

37 Where: ΔP is the pressure difference measured in psi Q is the flow rate of fluid in gpm C V is the flow coefficient of the valve s G is the specific gravity of the fluid used at the condition during measurement For example a Venturi (C V =0.56) used with a 30% Propylene Glycol and Water mixture (s G =1.048) at 70 F and a 0.95 psi pressure drop would have a flow rate as follows: ΔP 0.95 (psi) Q = CV = 0.56* = (gpm) s G The Reynolds number of the Propylene Glycol mixture at is 1,732, within the range of usefulness of the venture as indicated by the chart. Therefore, this application will retain the specified accuracy. Alternate forms of the C V equation A careful examination of the flow curves provided for the Mesurmeter will indicate that the lines representing flow are not quite parallel. The equations presented in this Technical Tip represent an industry norm for HVAC applications. Much more involved correlations for the flow of fluid through venturi s nozzles and orifii are used in laboratories where time is significantly less important than accuracy. An intermediate equation that offers a slight improvement in accuracy without too much additional complication has been used to develop these charts. 39 Glycol 1. Subject and Scope Use of Mesurflo flow controller with high concentrations of anti-freeze - water solutions. Is a correction factor necessary for proper application? 2. Applicability All mixtures wherein the density of the final solution will deviate significantly from that of pure water are covered providing the following criteria hold true. This bulletin will cover fluids with only small changes in viscosity from water. For fluids whose viscosity differs markedly from that of pure water contact Hays Customer Service. Fluids that are compatible with the materials used in a Mesurflo valve. The fluid used must be compatible with copper, brass and EPDM materials. The fluid is Newtonian (shear stress is proportional to the rate of strain). 3. Background The Mesurflo is an accurate and economical solution to automatic flow control. Constant flow rates may be held over a wide variety of differential pressures. Unless otherwise requested the specifications for Mesurflo valves are referenced to flow rate in water. The design of the Mesurflo valve provides a constant rate of mass flow over a wide range of pressures and temperatures. Most HVAC systems do not utilize 100% concentration of water in their systems due to freezing issues. Changes in fluid transport properties will result in small changes in volumetric flow rate when using Mesurflo devices. The cold temperature design point for most systems is a result of the environment in which they are installed. Concentrations of anti-freeze additives such as Ethylene-Glycol are usually below 50%. As a result the majority of HVAC systems require no flow rate correction when using a Mesurflo R01 Glycol Bulletin

40 For systems designed to operate in extreme cold climates greater percentages of anti-freeze additives are required. For example in a climate such as Alaska percentages of Ethylene-Glycol may be required to be significantly higher. A correction to account for the variation in fluid properties may be used to ensure the design flow rates in these situations. 4. Details The Mesurflo valve is a constant mass flow device. To determine the volumetric flow rate of a fluid whose density is different from that of water it is only necessary to divide the flow rate in water by the ratio in densities of that fluid and water. The equation below expresses this relationship in mathematical form: w V & = V& ρ w * ρ Where V & is the volumetric flow rating of the Mesurflo w f ρ w is the density of water at the reference temperature ρ is the density of the alternate fluid at the f reference temperature V & is the resulting volumetric flow of the alternate fluid For example, to obtain the correct volumetric flow rate of a mixture of an Ethylene Glycol-Water of 70%/30% it would be necessary to determine the density of the Ethylene Glycol -Water mixture and water alone at that temperature. For our example we will use a density of 69.1 lb/cu ft for the Ethylene Glycol-Water mixture. The reference density of water at this temperature is lb/cu ft. 52 Customer Supplied Hays Installed ATC Policy Hays will offer and confirm a shipping date of your order upon receipt of correct Automatic Temperature Control Valves and inspection of the same. A list price of $25.00 per package will be added to the total price of each Purchase Order for Hays installation of Customer Supplied Automatic Temperature Control Valves. That price will be discounted based on the current multiplier at the time the PO is received. A complete valve schedule with piping package tagging, control valve model number and connection sizes should be sent prior to the shipment of the those valves to Hays. Control valves received from the customer s supplier must have the Identical Tagging information on each control valve that correlates to the tagging information supplied from the customer for the piping packages ordered. All shipping containers with control valves must be marked with Customer Purchase Order number, originally submitted to Hays, Job I.D. and/or Hays Sales Order #. Assembly of Piping Packages will not start until all Automatic Temperature Control Valves have been received, inspected and found to match the size, type and tagging that was submitted on the Purchase Order. No Partial Shipments! Missing or wrong connection size and non-tagged control valves are the responsibility of the customer and the controls supplier and are subject to the $95.00/ hr rework fee for Hays to sort and tag. Additional requirements or changes made to a piping package after placement of the order will result in a $95.00/hr charge with a minimum of 1 hour plus any additional components used. Not adhering to the above policy will result in a delay of the production process.

123 WaterSource Heat Pump and Fan Coil Piping Packages INSTALLATION, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Clean the lines of all foreign material, (welding slag, pipe scale, dirt, thread chips etc.). Upstream installation of a strainer may be necessary in dirty systems. 2. Air should be eliminated from the system prior to startup to assure quiet operation and freedom from water hammer. 3. Flow control valves may be installed horizontally, vertically or any angle in between. Additional straight sections of pipe upstream or downstream of the Automatic flow control valves are unnecessary for proper operation. Straight sections of pipe approximately 10 inside pipe diameters upstream and 5 diameters downstream of Manual Balance Valves is recommended for maximum flow reading accuracy. 4. Standard reducing bushings or flanges may be directly connected to the hose ends if required. 5. The ATC Actuator may be mounted above or along side of piping but must never be mounted where condensation can accumulate or come in contact with electrical or mechanical components. ATC valves marked Stem Up, must be mounted with stem up. 6. All Hays Automatic and Manual Flow Control Valves are marked with direction of flow. Automatic valves will be labeled with the GPM and Manual Valves will be labeled with the Cv. THE FLOW ARROW MUST POINT IN THE DIRECTION OF FLOW FOR PROPER OPERATION. 7. Flow Control Valves, Automatic or Manual, must be located in the RETURN Line. 8. Hays Hose kits must be free of kinks, contact with other objects, sharp bends, tension or torsion. INSTALLATION 1. Threaded components are made with the inch series NPT threads in accordance with ANSI STD B and are intended for use in Building Services Piping meeting the requirements of ASME B Determine which is the Supply Hose and which is the Return Hose. The Strainer is only on the Supply Side. Flow controls are only on the Return Side. The electric valve can be on either side. 3. Swivels are usually mounted closest to the Heat pump, but one may be on the strainer to facilitate flushing. 4. Check application for proper hose length, so as to prevent Kinks, Twists, Sharp Bends, Stretching and Chaffing. 5. ½ through 1-1/4 hoses have a removable threaded adapter. There should be a fiber gasket inside the female swivel end of the hose to prevent leaking when the adapter is connected to the end of the hose. This gasket must be in place to prevent leaking. Do Not use any type of tape or compound on the adapter or female swivel connection. These are straight threads and require a gasket to form a proper seal. Use of any sealant material will not prevent leaking and will void any warranty that may be expressed or implied. 6. Apply thread sealant to male pipe threads, starting with the second or third thread from the end. (CAUTION, If factory applied thread sealant is present, DO NOT ADD ADDITIONAL SEALANT) Torque the connection to 75 foot pounds per inch of pipe size minimum. Example: (1 ½, 1.5 X 75= 113 ft lb Min.) (1/4,.25 x 75 = 19 ft lb Min) 7. Inspect installation or Leaks, Kinks, Twists, Sharp Bends, Stretching and Chaffing. IOM-HK/PP-001 Page 1 of 2

124 OPERATION 1. For optimum operation, air entrainment in the system must be eliminated. The flow control valve must remain filled with fluid. The system must be clean and free of foreign materials. 2. The Hays Hose Kits and Piping Packages must only be used with fluids that are compatible with, Iron, Brass, Santoprene and EPDM materials. The temperature during operation must be limited to the range of 32 F to 225 F. MAINTENANCE 1. General maintenance is not required for Hays Hose Kits or Piping Packages, however if the system experiences large amounts of pipe scale due to poor water conditions, as sometimes is found in older or retrofit systems, some maintenance may be required. Provisions should be made to keep the system clean. Proper water treatment is also recommended. 2. Periodically check to make sure the hoses are free from strain or damage, and if Manual Balancing Valves are being used, that their handle is in its proper balancing position. 125 Fan Coil Piping Package Performance Specification-Summary AUTOMATIC & MANUAL BALANCING PIPING PACKAGES Each package, shall include a Hays 2500 Y-Ball Series Mesurflo Automatic Flow Control Valve or Manual Venturi Type Balance Valve, along with a ball valve with union end. Options may include: two flexible hoses, an automatic temperature control valve, high flow "Y-Ball" strainer for sizes ½ -2. FLOW CONTROL VALVES Manual flow control valves are Venturi type balance valves with a Venturi insert. Various Cv s per valve size. Ball valves shall be made of forged brass and meet or exceed Hays specifications. WOG of 600 psig and temperature range of 32 F to 225 F. NPT per ASME/ANSI B & B31.9. Working Pressure Rating shall be per ASME B31.9 Building Services Piping. Automatic flow control valves shall be factory set to rated flow, and shall automatically control the flow to within ±10% of the rated value, over an operating range of 2 to 80 psid¹. For flow velocities exceeding 7.0 feet per second, pressure drop will be proportionally higher. Flow rates shall be field changeable without breaking the piping connections. Operational temperature shall be rated from fluid 32 F to 225 F. Noise created by the Hays Automatic Balance valve shall not exceed the following limits at a Reynolds number of 5,000 and inlet velocity of 1.4 ft/s when tested per Hays Fluid Controls Specification Number : - Below 8 psi the noise generated by the valve shall be less than 24dBA pressure level, 35 dba power level. Unit sound pressure levels at the 1/3 octave band level shall not exceed ambient sound pressure levels by more than 3 dba. - Above 8 psi and at or less than 16 psi the overall sound power level when A- weighted shall not exceed 35 dba, the overall sound pressure level shall not exceed 25 dba. All valves shall show as a minimum controlled flow direction, flow rate, manufacturer and model number. SUPPLY AND RETURN HOSES All hoses shall be equipped with swivel end connections at terminal unit, unless Y-Ball Mesurflo with it s built in union is supplied. The motorized head shall be removable, have 39 inch 18 gage leads, and be housed in a plenum rated enclosure with conduit connection. The valve body shall be constructed of hot forged brass UNS C37700 per ASTM B-283, with inch size pipe thread fittings per ASME/ANSI B and B31.9. The flow cartridge shall be made of stainless steel, polyphenylene sulfide polyphenylene oxide and EPDM. 130 Terms & Conditions SPECIFICATIONS Specifications, as set forth in all printed matter, are subject to change without notice. HAYS reserves the right to substitute material or components when necessary without written notice. FREIGHT ALLOWANCE All sales are F.O.B. manufacturer s point of shipment. Full freight will be prepaid and shipped ground for all sales of $3,500.00, based on the net price, provided the orders are shipped to the same destination within the Continental U.S.A., except Alaska and Hawaii. All shipments under $3, net will be billed to the customer using their freight company & account number collect, or shipped prepaid and add cost to your invoice. Terms of Payment Net 30 days. A service charge of 1-1/2% per month will be added to all past due accounts (equivalent to 18% annually). Purchaser is liable for all legal costs if the account is placed for collection. Returns Returns will be Accepted for Product that is Defective or Due to a Hays Processing Error within forty-five (45) days of order ship date. If a return is accepted for reasons other than defects or other Hays errors, a service charge of 30% of the invoice price will be charged for restocking of items received in new and unused condition. All returns require a preapproved returned merchandise authorization (RMA). All shipments must be freight prepaid F.O.B. manufacturers point of acceptance. Merchandise returned because of defects, in material or workmanship will be at seller s expense. Cancellations Cancelled orders of manufactured product will be subject to a thirty percent (30%) cancellation charge for the production, testing and quality assurance time associated with the order. Order Changes Changes to orders of assembled product whether additions, deletions, changes in size or fittings will be subject to a rate of $95.00/hour plus the costs of additional components reflecting engineering and production time associated with the changes. RECONSIGNMENT OF FREIGHT All freight or reconsignment charges issued by the carrier, relevant to undeliverable, redirected or refused product, shall be invoiced to the buyer regardless of Hays Fluid Controls published freight allowance. OBSOLESCENCE No returns will be accepted because of design changes or new products in the company line. HAYS retains the right to change design without prior notice. DAMAGED MERCHANDISE The responsibility for items lost or damaged in transit is that of the buyer. These claims should be filed with the transportation company. CONDITIONS OF SALE Changes in the price of items sold by HAYS may be executed without notice. The minimum amount of any sale is $50.00 net. Acceptance of Orders All orders are subject to the acceptance of Hays, a Division of Romac Industries, Inc. at the general office address: 400 East Fields Street, Dallas NC Limited Warranty All Hays goods sold hereunder are warranted to be free from defects in material and factory workmanship for a period of (1) year from the original date of purchase. Automatic flow control diaphragm and orifi used in Mesurflo 2300, 2500, & 3500 series Automatic Balancing valves, shall be warranted for the life of the HVAC system in which it was originally installed, provided only water based hydronic fluids are used at usual HVAC temperatures and installed in accordance to product installation & operation specifications. We will repair or provide a replacement, at no cost, goods that prove to be defective. Any evidence of tampering, abuse, neglect, excessive adjusting, improper installation or servicing, operating conditions beyond product specifications, or malfunctions due to other equipment, will result in the automatic void of the Hays Fluid Controls Limited Warranty. WE SHALL NOT BE RESPONISIBLE FOR ANY LABOR CHARGES OR ANY LOSS, INJURY OR DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES AND COSTS RELATED TO RE- MOVAL OR INSTALLATION. The sole and exclusive remedy shall be limited to providing the replacement of the defective goods, which must be returned to Hays by obtaining a Return Material Authorization referencing the Original Purchase Order number items were purchased on. Before installation and use, the ultimate purchaser shall determine the suitability of the product for his intended us and the ultimate purchaser assumes all risk and liability whatever in connection therewith.
