Depending on the vehicle version and equipment, modifications may be necessary during installation with respect to this installation documentation. However, the regulations of the "installation documentation"; the "operating instructions " and the "installation instructions" for the Thermo Top E / C must always be observed. The corresponding rules of technology and any information from the vehicle manufacturer should be observed during the installation work. General Instructions Installation should be carried out according to the general, standard rules of technology. Unless specified otherwise, fasten hoses, lines and wiring harnesses to original vehicle lines and wiring harnesses using cable ties. Insulate loose wires and tie back. Sharp edges should be fitted with rub protection (cut-open fuel hose). Spray unfinished body areas, e.g. drilled holes, with anti-corrosion wax (Tectyl 00K, Order No. 9). 5 Preliminary Work WARNING! - Open the fuel tank cap and vent the fuel tank. - Close the fuel tank cap again. - Disconnect the battery. - Depressurise the cooling system. - Copy the factory number from the original type label to the duplicate type label. - Remove years that do not apply from the duplicate label. - Attach the duplicate label (type label) in the appropriate place. - Remove the engine cover. - Detach and remove the right and left-hand wheel well trim. - Remove the left front wheel. - Remove the bumper. - Remove the washer reservoir. - Remove the underride protection. - Remove the glove compartment. - Remove the A-pillar trim in the driver's side footwell. - Remove the lower instrument panel trim on the driver's side. - Detach the fuse and relay carrier in the passenger compartment. - Open the tank-fitting service lid on the right (only for vehicles with pre-feed pump). - Remove the fuel-tank sending unit in accordance with manufacturer's instructions (only for vehicles with pre-feed pump). 30 Fuel CAUTION! Open the vehicle's fuel tank cap, ventilate the tank and then re-close the tank lock. Catch any fuel running off with an appropriate container. Install fuel line and metering pump wiring harness so that they are protected against stone impact. Unless specified otherwise, always fasten using cable ties. Mount the fuel line and wiring harness with rub protection on sharp edges. WARNING! The fuel line and wiring harness are routed to the metering pump in as shown in the wiring harness routing diagram. 31 Fuel extraction is dependent on vehicle equipment. In case of vehicles with hand pump (without prefeed pump in the tank), the fuel extraction is conducted using a T-piece in the return line - Version. 36 Final Work WARNING! Mount removed parts in reverse order. Check all hoses, clamps and all electrical connections for firm seating. Secure all loose cables using cable ties. Only use manufacturer-approved coolant. Spray heater components with anti-corrosion wax (Tectyl 00K, Order No. 9). - Connect the battery. - Fill and bleed the coolant circuit according to the vehicle manufacturer s specifications. - Set the digital timer, teach the Telestart. - Make settings on A/C control panel according to the "Operating Instructions for End Customer". - Place the "Switch off parking heater before refuelling" signboard in the area of the filler neck. - Check the proper function of the parking heater, see the operating instructions/installation instructions. Cut rattling guard in centre and glue onto washer reservoir, degrease adhesive bonding surface beforehand. Preparing washer reservoir 7 Note for vehicles with headlight washer system! After installing the bumper, the routing of the hose of the headlight washer system must be checked and sufficient distance to the exhaust system of the heater ensured! 38 Operating Instructions for End Customer Please remove page and add to the vehicle operating instructions. Note: We recommend matching the heating time to the driving time. Heating time = driving time Example: For a driving time of approx. 0 min. (in one direction), we recommend not exceeding a switch-on time of 0 min. While unlocking the vehicle (when the parking heater is on) the fan control is deactivated by the parking heater. The original functionalities are available on activating the A/C control panel or switching the ignition on.
