Application 1.1 Controlling of temperature The HCC can be used to control the air-outlet temperature of Frontboxes in busses. It can also be used to control the air-outlet temperature of heating or AC-Systems for cabins. Therefore the HCC controls a water valve (heating mode) or a solenoid valve/clutch (cooling-mode) The air outlet temperature is measured with a sensor. By an additional input it is possible to open the water valve 100%. So comfort-functions like defrost or reheat can be controlled by HCC. This additional input makes it also possible to connect a preheating-system to HCC. 1.2 Stepless control of air-flaps or water valves If the temperature sensor is not connected the AURORA HCC can be used as a infinitely variable actuator for actuation motors Bosch VMC II. The actuation of the motor is commensurate to the actuation angle on the potentiometer.

Functional description: AURORA HCC temperature sensor for air outlet control-panel with ACswitch and potentiometer for temperature-setting solenoid valve water valve for heating circuit AC-switch "ON": cooling mode: In cooling mode the HCC closes the watervalve. The HCC controls the air-outlet temperature by switching the solenoid valve / clutch on or off. The temperature range is between + 5 C and + 25 C. This range is programmable and can so be adapted to various applications.

4 4/10 AC-switch "OFF" or not connected: Heating mode: In heating mode the HCC controls the air-outlet temperature by the watervalve. The temperature range ist between + 15 C and + 60 C. This range is programmable and can so be adapted to various applications..in version a range of +5 C to 65 C is possible. Temperature sensor NTC 10 kohm The air outlet temperature is measured with the temperature sensor. The sensor has to be used with the electronical Thermostat HCC /-0502/-0503 and (and/or /-0507/-0508 and and /-0514/-0516) 3. 6 6/10 5. Reheat-function In cooling mode the HCC (and ) closes the watervalve. Therefor the HCC and have an additional reheat-function. If power supply AC (pin 5) as well as power supply water valve (pin 3) are applied, the air conditioning unit and the water valve can be used at the same time. 6. HCC with internal air sensor The HCC and and and are designed for an internal air sensor. The functions without the sensor are the same as HCC Important: The position of the sensor has to be always in the air flow. Temperature range: 18 C - 28 C

7 7/10 7. HCC version optimized heating control The HCC and have also the same functions as , but the charcteristic is changed as following: Potentiomter position min. to 5%: water valve is closed. 10 10/ Fault diagnosis In the case of malfunctions of a product (water valve, Twin Set, disc, device) with HCC we recommend the following checks to identify the error or the damaged component: Check HCC: General state of the HCC compliance with the conditions, e.g. operating temperature -40 C to +80 C HCC protected against contamination and spray water? power supply given check installation HCC, ensure suitability of the position check electrical connection of the cable set - the plug from the cable set has to be securely fastened at the HCC. Secure with cable ties, so that the plug can not be solved independently. - the plug to the servo motor has to be securely fastened - The plug for the power supply has to be securely fastened - The plug to the potentiometer has to be securely fastened. If a plug was not attached properly, examine the connectors and contacts and wires. (cable set defective, chafe marks, bare wires, corrosion, aging effects, cable kink, crimp not okay, etc.) If necessary, the set of cables ha to be replaced! Check of the connected components: check all lines position of the temperature sensor, if necessary, remove and re-connect examine sensor for broken wire ensure existing supply check the self-calibration of the water valve - When activated poti, the end stops are reached optical check poti on damages check function of the operation element - check actuation of the rotation knob for the air distribution flap and reaching middle position (e.g. window and foot area) - function switch for magnetic valve - heating mode: Heating control set temperature at the poti check water valve on position open and closed - AC mode: AC control set temperature at the poti, water valve closed, magnetic valve open check state and connection water valve function servo motor - operational? (If necessary, consultation with AURORA) check state of the flap (flap bearing, blockage, corrosion) check correct state of magnetic clutch and/or compressor (use fault diagnosis of the technical documentation of the according unit.)
