Order Details FSD-L GFSD-L FSD Fire dampers are constructed with a.mm galvanised steel casing with 0.8mm galvanised steel blades, fitted with catchplates and stainless steel closure springs and stainless steel side seals. Fusible links are fitted for a fusing temperature of 7ºC unless otherwise specified. GFSD Generally has the same construction as Type FSD except that the blades are manufactured from 0.8mm stainless steel. Note: The installer should note that all fire damper installations plus required access panels have to be to the satisfaction of the District Surveyor. L shutter fire dampers are for use in low pressure systems, the interlocking hinged blades are easily reset from the side of the damper to which the catchplate is fitted, an access panel must be installed on that side to allow for resetting the fusible link. The Type L can be used with a HVF (HEVAC) subframe. The installation method for multiple section installation must have the relevant local approvals. It should be noted that multiple installations may experience difficulty in establishing positive closure against airflow pressure when the fan is in operation. 4 Construction Types FSD-HR FSD-HC FSD-HO GFSD-HR GFSD-HC GFSD-HO Types FSD or GFSD-HR, -HC, -HO have a fully welded airtight casing and are applicable to high pressure systems. Each of these designs are intended to be used with an HVF (HEV AC) subframe and when ordered with this accessory they are delivered as a complete assembly. The hinged blades are easily reset from the side of the damper to which the catchplate is fitted, an access panel must be installed on that side to allow for resetting the fusible link. 5 Installation Details Installation with Sleeve and Peripheral Angles : As an alternative for use where the HEVAC frame is not desired, or cannot be fitted, peripheral sleeves and angle frames can be constructed in accordance with the following. The damper should be installed centrally within the surrounding wall or floor thickness such that the centre line of the frame is a minimum distance of 0mm from the nearest face of the wall or floor. The damper should be installed in a rectangular galvanised steel sleeve with a minimum thickness of.mm. This sleeve should be attached to the damper not to the builder s work by mm diameter bolts spaced at not more than mm centres. centres, and should form a complete frame around the sleeve and cover over the expansion gap (see note) required between sleeve and wall or floor opening. The expansion gap should be filled with compressible, non-combustible material (mineral wool). The cover angle should be of such a size as always to form a cover over the wall or floor opening by mm minimum, and should be manufactured from a minimum size of 8 x 8 x mm steel angle. All fixings of frames must be positioned clear of the damper blade path so as not to impede proper closure. The sleeve should be of a suitable length to extend through the wall or floor opening to enable the fitting of the cover angles and ductwork. 6 Installation Details HEV AC Installation Frame Type HVF The HEV AC Installation Frame Type HVF is built to specification HVC /78. Various fire damper designs can be used with this installation frame, see below. Where more than one duct penetrates a fire wall or floor, adjacent fire dampers and frame assemblies must be separated by builder s work of a minimum thickness of mm. FSD and GFSD-L, HO, HC and HR can all be fitted in the HEV AC installation frame. Z0 Solenoid Type SRA: Type SRA solenoid provides remote operation from an AC electrical signal, power on the damper closes. Z0 Electro Magnet Type SRD : Type SRD electro-magnet provides remote operation from a DC electrical source, power of f the damper closes. Z0 CO Operation Type COT: Type COT provides remote operation with a CO actuated thruster. 8 Technical Data The fire dampers shown have been tested by an independent authority (Warrington Research Centre) according to British Standard 7 Part 8 : 97 for a period of hours. The time/ temperature curve required by this test procedure is shown below, after hours test the FSD/GFSD retained its integrity with no significant openings being formed.
