FEATURES AND BENEFITS The OASIS TYPHOON is a proven design and its operational features are engineered to give you the best possible wash in the least amount of time. This unique adjustable, high pressure vehicle wash has a lot to offer practically any type operation. Listed below is a brief description of its features and benefits. Computer Versatility With Reliable Equipment The Model 8550 Typhoon is completely computer controlled. We use the Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1500 family of programmable controllers for two reasons...they are extremely reliable, and Allen-Bradley is available almost anywhere in the world. All electrical components are UL approved and meet European Union Harmonized Standards for Safety & EMC (89/336/EEC) (98/37/EC). The operational program for the Model 8550 Typhoon is written by Oasis. The versatility of this program is endless. The Typhoon has four (4) wash vends which can include High & Low ph Presoak, Tire Cleaner, Rocker Panel Spray, Undercarriage Spray, High Pressure Wash, Rinse, Wax, Oasis Triple Foam Shine and Spot Free Rinse. The Typhoon can also operate doors, dryers, and just about any option you can think of. Built-in safety features protect you and your customers. From the very moment money has been inserted and the wash selected, the Typhoon begins to protect itself and the customer. The unit knows when the vehicle is in the proper position to begin the wash cycle. After the optics tell the computer the vehicle location in the bay, the system knows what action to take should the customer decide to leave the bay before the wash is finished. In any fault condition the Model 8550 Typhoon knows how to react and will either finish the wash cycle or return to the home position and be ready for the next customer. Optics Operations The Typhoon measures the length of the vehicle by an electro-optic transmitter and receiver. These are supplied with a heater and thermostat totally enclosed. This ensures the eyes stay at their optimum operating temperature even in the coldest climate, and prevents ice and fog from affecting their operation. The eyes are active on the first, low pressure pass down the length of the vehicle. After the computer has measured the vehicle, it will plot the vehicle in its memory and will operate from these coordinates. The eyes are used again to see the vehicle out of the bay. Once the optics have measured the length and width, the wands adjust to the proper distance from the rear and passenger side of the vehicle to ensure the best possible wash. Zero Degree Nozzles Overhead, the Typhoon has zero degree, oscillating nozzles. This is a nozzle that rotates within itself at a 15 to 20 degree pattern with a zero degree spray stream. This tremendously increases the cleaning on the hoods, trunks and windshields, but does not require costly rotating unions. Features and Benefits

Hydraulically Powered, Precision Gear Drive All Oasis units are hydraulically powered. This allows smooth continuous operation without the use of electric motors in the wash bay. Multiple speed on the hydraulics are standard and allow the operator to select the speed for each pass. The Model 8550 Typhoon has urethane molded gears that run along an aluminum track. All parts on the drive system are manufactured and fitted by Oasis. Mating parts that fit well have a much greater life span. The gear drive system makes any movement of the bay equipment precise and without any chance for error. Basic Construction The Typhoon, as are all Oasis units, is manufactured of aluminum and stainless steel. The rails that carry the bridge assembly are aluminum extrusions from a special dye built by Oasis. These rails are ported top and bottom during the extrusion process to allow circulation of anti-freeze through the rail itself. Rail Heat Anti-Freeze System As mentioned in the paragraph above, the Typhoon has a thermostatically controlled antifreeze circulation system to allow the unit to operate at any temperature. All hoses, cables, and a heat circulation line are enclosed from the equipment room to the wash bay. This is to prevent freezing and vandalism. The spray tips on the top spinner along with the Triple Foam Shine wands are blown dry with an intermittent air purge system to prevent freeze up. This air purge system comes on automatically within one minute after the wash is complete unless another wash has been purchased. Image Package The Oasis 8550 sign panels can be designed to match any color scheme or decor. From major oil companies to "Joe's Carwash", Oasis can provide the look you desire. Features and Benefits

VEND PROGRAMMING & OPERATIONAL INFORMATION Prior to entering a new vend program into the processor, use a blank vend selection worksheet and vend selection choices sheet to translate what you want the wash to do into terms the processor understands. When writing vends, remember these tips: 1. Never start a vend with a delay. Wash must start with a bridge movement. A first step delay is done at cycle start delay on DAT integer #25 (set to at least 5). 2. The Typhoon is fast, but it is critical to give your presoak time to work. If you have questions on how best to do this, contact your Distributor or Oasis Technical Services. 3. Water supply is not a constant. If you use more water than your system can supply, the wash will fail. 4. For the most part, the Typhoon is designed to run at fast speeds. Slower speeds slow the throughput and increase operating costs. 5. You must always program an even number of passes when programming a wash. If need be, you may do a bridge movement without any product or water delivery, as long as the wash makes an even number of passes. 6. Ensure product is at the wands before they begin to move. As a rule of thumb, low-pressure (presoak, spot-free rinse) functions are delivered in 5 7 seconds, while high-pressure functions (high-pressure wax, rocker panel, etc.) take 3 4 seconds to reach the wands. 7. Graph the wash out before assigning numbers to steps. 8. Minimize distractions while loading vends onto the processor to reduce error. From Home Menu Screen: 1. Press F1 for Main Menu 2. Press F1 for Vends 3. Press F1 for Clear Vend (last chance to exit) 4. Press F1, then enter the # of the vend to be loaded, 1 through 4 5. Press Enter 6. Screen will read: Step #1 F1 to Enter Selection Number Panel View Vend Programming and Operational Information

Remember, once you press F1, the Panel View will not give you a reference to what step you are on until you enter a number. Always use a system to stay in sync with your menu in case of distraction. Press F1, the selection number, and Enter. 7. The Panel View will ask for Inlet Selection for that step number. Number 1 is always from the water storage tank, and 2-4 can be assigned to any of the options ordered with your machine (soft water, hot water, reclaim). Press F1, then your 1-4 choice, then Enter. 8. The Panel View will now ask for speed or time delay associated with that step. Again, pressing F1 calls up the entry screen with no step reference number. Press F1, speed or time, and Enter. 9. Repeat steps 6, 7, and 8 until all of the vends are entered. 10. On the final step, press F1, 60, and enter, to go back to the home screen. Operational Sequence The system s controller, located in the control panel, receives a signal selecting a wash vend. Typically, there are four (4) vends from which to choose. This is done by one of several methods, but most often it is from the money acceptor/cashier or one of the manual buttons located on the control panel door. With the wash vend selected, the controller will turn on the green drive forward light, directing the vehicle into the wash bay. As the vehicle enters the bay, the green drive forward light will stay on until the vehicle reaches the stop station. The red stop light will then turn on a start delay with a factory setting of five seconds to ensure that the customer is settled into the proper wash position. If the customer leaves the stop pad before the five second delay is up, the drive forward light will come on again. If the five second delay time has elapsed and the customer then leaves the stop pad, the system will abort the wash and go through the normal safety procedures to reset for the next vehicle. After the customer has been on the stop station for more than one second, the presoak pump will start and fill the lines with presoak. This delay ensures the presoak is at full flow from the wand before the bridge begins to move. Following is a description of a typical six pass wash cycle. Step 1 Select #3 Presoak #1 with Tire Cleaner After the five second delay, the hydraulic pump will start and the main and rear bridges will begin to travel toward the rear of the wash bay, applying low pressure presoak. The flow of presoak is controlled by the air regulator located on the regulator bank on the control side of the pump stand. Vend Programming and Operational Information

As the bridge travels the bay applying low pressure presoak and the optional tire cleaner, the optic eyes will mark the length of the vehicle. The Typhoon has a transmitter on one side of the bridge and a receiver located on the other side, completing a circuit. One of the urethane drive gears is fixed with stainless steel targets that are read by a 30mm proximity switch. As the gear rolls down the bay the targets pass over a fixed position proximity switch. Each time a target passes by the prox, an electronic impulse is sent to the system controller. The controller keeps count of the number of impulses. The optic circuit is completed after the bridge moves past the rear of the vehicle. The machine now knows the location of the vehicle in the bay. The optics become dormant until the end of the wash cycle. Step 2 Select #45 Presoak Delay After the bridge has traveled to the rear of the vehicle and the front and rear wands have traveled to the passenger side of the vehicle, the first step has been completed. The front and rear wand will now travel back toward the driver s side of the vehicle as the main bridge delays for a presoak delay of five seconds. Step 3 Select #50 Undercarriage Spray with Rust Inhibitor Rust inhibitor chemical is applied to the vehicle for 10 seconds, which allows additional time for the presoak chemical to loosen filth and grime. Step 4 Select #65 Purge Rocker Panel Spray with Soap and Cold Water Purge rocker panel spray with soap and cold water for two seconds to allow the RPS to fill with water and chemical prior to the bridges starting to move. This ensures nothing is missed during the washing process. Step 5 Select #27 Rocker Panel Spray with Soap and Cold Water The main bridge will move out to the front of the vehicle at the speed you selected while spraying the lower part of the car, tires and wheel wells with high pressure spray. Step 6 Select #52 High Pressure Soap Purge Next, the high pressure pumps will come on and purge all of the wands with cold water and soap. Step 7 Select #11 High Pressure Wash The main bridge will travel to the rear of the vehicle, washing both sides and the top during this high pressure pass. During this time, the front and rear wands are cleaning the front and rear of the vehicle. It should be noted that during the normal time taken for the main bridge to make one pass down the length of the vehicle, the front and rear wand make three passes across the width of the vehicle. This efficient process helps ensure the cleanest car possible with these extra passes for bugs and dirt on every vend. Vend Programming and Operational Information

Step 8 Select #35 High Pressure Rinse Next, you may choose a high pressure cold water rinse as the bridge moves to the front of the vehicle, rinsing the soap from the top, sides, front and rear. Step 9 Select #56 Purge High Pressure Wax You have now chosen to apply a high pressure wax to the vehicle. However, to ensure every part of the car has wax applied, program a purge cycle of two seconds which allows the high pressure wax to reach the spray tips. Step 10 Select #17 High Pressure Wax Now that the system is charged with wax, the main bridge moves to the rear of the vehicle, applying the wax solution to all sides. Step 11 Select #59 Purge with Spot Free Rinse Getting ready for the final pass of spot free rinse, the system once again purges to ensure pure water will be applied to all surfaces. Step 12 Select #44 Spot Free Rinse The main bridge now travels home at the speed you set when programming this vend. During this last pass, the front and rear wands will also travel home and will be in the home position prior to the end of this last SFR pass. Step 13 Select #60 End of Wash Home You programmed in this selection number to finish the programming steps. Now that the system is home, the drive forward light will illuminate and direct the customer from the wash bay. You have selected to apply a final application of spot free rinse as the customer exits the wash bay. This final spray gives the customer a finishing touch of satisfaction. Another option is to offer the customer a dryer car with the optional Oasis GaleForce Dryer. At this point, the Oasis Typhoon has already started directing the next satisfied customer into the wash bay. Vend Programming and Operational Information

A ground fault protected 20 amp 230 volt single phase dedicated circuit to the T1 & T2 for powering the processor must be provided. Conduit and the proper size wire must be installed from the hydraulic motor starter, located in the automatic control panel, to the hydraulic power unit. The 3-phase wires and ground should be #12 wire to meet local electric codes. Also wire per local codes both 30 HP electric motors from the motor starters in the Oasis control panel to the motors with proper grounds. For applications, Oasis recommends #3 wire; for 460 or 575, Oasis recommends #8 wire, but always follow local code. The unit must also be wired between the bay sign and the control panel with a break out for the stop station. The stop station requires three wires in addition to the five wires needed for the 3-station sign. If an optional 8-station sign or entrance sign is ordered, they will also need to be wired. The customer is also responsible for supplying 230 volt power to the anti-freeze system pump, cycling the pump through the thermostat, according to the wiring schematic supplied by Oasis. It is also the customer s responsibility to supply approximately 25 gallons (94.6L) of anti-freeze for each automatic system installed with the 50 gallon (189.3L) heater or approximately 7 gallons (26.5L) per unit if the heat exchanger is used instead of the 50 gallon (189.3L) hot water tank. This antifreeze must be provided at the time of installation. It is the customer s responsibility to provide approximately 15 gallons (56.8L) of Dexron III transmission fluid to fill the hydraulic reservoir. Startup chemicals are to be supplied by the customer. Oasis will then set up proper mixing procedures for your application when installed by Oasis personnel, though it is recommended that your chemical supplier set up chemicals at time of startup. If an Oasis Spot Free Rinse system has been sold and is to be installed by Oasis, customer must supply Oasis with a hard water sample prior to or at time of order. General Safety Precautions

Unloading the Pallet The Typhoon is shipped on a wooden pallet. For a successful installation, the pallet should be unloaded in an ordered manner. The first step is to label the Bridge signs. Each sign is wrapped in a protective plastic sheath. Using a marker, label each sign according to its location. For example: Main Bridge/Exit Side or Rear Bridge/ Entrance Side. Labeling the signs ensures they go back in the right location after the Bridges are hung. If the signs are not covered in protective sheaths, label them on the inside. From left to right: Rear, Front and Main Bridges Sign labeled Main Bridge Exit The Rear Bridge can be identified by the Igus tube inside and the V-rollers on the end. The Front Bridge has Igus tube inside as well, but does not have V-rollers on the end. The Main Bridge has V- rollers, but does not have Igus tube inside. The Typhoon decals are on the entrance side of signs. Front Bridge Rear Bridge Main Bridge Unloading the Pallet

Unloading the Pallet (cont d) Now that the signs have been identified and labeled, remove the bolts from the sign bottoms, lift the signs off of the Bridges and set them aside. Be sure to return the bolts to their original holes in the bottoms of the Bridges for safekeeping. Remove the Wands from the crate and stand them up in the corner of the bay. Now undo the crating from the Bridges by removing the bolts. The Bridges are bolted to the pallet. Use a 9/16 wrench to remove the bolts from the Bridges. Next, remove the metal covers on the Bridges and Bridge boxes. Return the bolts to their original holes for safekeeping. Unload the rest of the pallet, leaving only the Bridges and Rails remaining on the crate. Removing the covers to the metal Bridge boxes while the unit is still on the pallet will provide easier access later in the install. Covers are found on the Bridges as well as Bridge boxes. Unloading the Pallet

Laying Out the Bay (critical to the rest of the install) 1) Shoot a level line in the bay using a transit. Two people: one using transit, one marking lines. 2) Mark the bracket holes according to the bay layout drawing, using the center wall bracket marks as a starting point. Keep in mind that the holes are spaced 2 either side of the center marks. Use a transit to find a level line. Snap a chalk reel to mark the line. 3) Mark 6 points: 3 per side (front, center, rear). Snap a chalk line across the marks. 4) Find highest point from the floor to this line (shortest dimension from line to floor). Subtract that measurement from 70 (70 is the height of the bottom hole on the offset wall brackets of the 8550 car version. 5) Using the difference from the two totals, add that distance to the height of the line. Example: If 34 is shortest measurement from the floor to the line, = 36. That will be the height of the control side wall bracket lower mounting hole, above the line. The height of the bottom mounting hole on the non-control side wall bracket is 10 inches higher, or in our example, add 46 to the chalk line height. 6) Mark the position of the center bracket on the transition box side according to the bay layout print. Bay layout position is for the center of the wall bracket. Bracket mounting holes are 2 either side of this mark. 7) Using a length of a cord (of any constant length) or a tape measure, from the known bracket center stretch the cord/tape at an angle across the bay and mark this consistent length towards both ends of the bay. Locate the center of these two marks to determine the center of the opposite wall bracket (non-control side). This will establish squareness of the rails. (To double check the alignment of the two center wall brackets, you can triangulate in reverse from the noncontrol side center of the center wall bracket to the control side wall center bracket). It should be within.250 of the original wall bracket center mark (control side). Laying out the Bay, Hanging Wall Brackets

Laying Out the Bay (cont d) 8) Drill only one of the bottom holes in each bracket and mount the brackets using the.500 allthread bolts, and backup plates. 9) After mounting the brackets, level them, mark and drill the remaining holes and install bolts (.500 all thread, flat washers, lock washers, nuts, and backup plates are supplied by Oasis). Tighten bolts. 10) If the hole for the transition box has not been cut yet, now is the time to locate the hole in relation to the center wall bracket (note the location on the drawing) and cut the hole (22 x 22 ). Cut a 22 x 22 window in the control wall. 11) The rails are drilled mirror image of each other, to accommodate both the left and right hand units. The main thing to keep in mind is that the heat ports that run the length of the rails run to the outside of the rails when hung. 12) It is critical to hang the rails in the proper position. The easiest way to orient the rails is to locate the two end of rail stop locations (the two holes parallel to the rail at the end of the rail), and place them to the entrance end of the bay, with the heat ports to the outside of the bay, the gear rack down, and the angled edge up. The four holes for mounting the Front Bridge will locate to the exit end of the bay. Laying out the Bay, Hanging Wall Brackets

Hanging Rails 13) Mount both rails. It may be necessary to utilize a fork truck to raise the rails into position. A long punch can be used to align the holes in the rails with the wall bracket holes. Insert the bolts with the heads to the inside of the bay and tighten. Mounting the rail to the wall bracket. A punch may be used to align the holes. Mounted rail. 14) After adjusting the width between the rail webs to apart, tighten the set screw and lock nut on the adjustable non-control side wall brackets. Make sure both rails have been installed in a straight line. Adjust rail webs to apart. Hanging the Rails

Installing Transition Box 1) Now the transition box can be installed. Mount the box to the wall centered at 84 high (for car unit) or 92 high (for van unit) and centered on the center line. Mount with 3/8 all-thread concrete anchors. (SEE DRAWING FOR LOCATION). Four.500 x 12 all-thread bolts are provided to squeeze the two sections of the transition box to the wall. The small flange goes inside the control room. For thinner walls the two flanges may need to be cut down to provide the proper tension on the wall. Window for transition box. Transition box installed. Mounting the Bridge Assemblies on the Rails 1) You will need a forklift for this operation. Careful planning of which Bridge to mount first and from which direction the Bridge should be loaded into the bay will help make this process easier (noting distance from any obstructions at the end of the rails, and orientation of Bridges, as it is easier to roll the Bridges onto the rails). The Front Bridge will be bolted in place and if this is the end you wish to mount all of the Bridges from, the Front Bridge should be mounted last. The Bridge boxes must be towards the transition box when mounting the Main and Rear Bridges. The Front Bridge locates with the down spout to the transition box side of the bay. 2) The Bridges can be distinguished by their location on the shipping crate as well as individual features. The Front Bridge is located on the top center of the crate. The Main Bridge can be distinguished by the two (2) oscillator wands located under the Bridge. The Rear Bridge can be located by the Rear Wand Trolley and associated gear drive and gear rack. 3) Prior to removing the Bridges from the crate, you should remove the wands and all of the covers and store them in a safe location until the machine is fully operational. When you remove the shipping blocks for the Front Bridge, save them to install the Front Bridge on the rails with the bolts attached to the side of the crate. Transition Box, Bridge Assemblies

Bridge Assemblies 4) Lift up the Bridge assembly, being careful to distribute the weight properly and position the forks carefully, not to damage trays, shafts, or oscillator wands on the Bridges. Raise the Bridges into position at the end of the rails (being careful of bay lights and obstructions to the fork truck mantel), and roll the black V-rollers on top of the rail assembly.once the Bridge is on top of the rails, you can easily move it up and down the track manually. CAUTION: Take care that the Bridge is aligned perpendicular to the rails while rolling it, so that the Bridge doesn t drop off of the rails. End Stops and Idler Rollers Once the Bridges are mounted, the end stops and the idler gears should be mounted. The end stops are two (2) aluminum blocks with rubber bumpers mounted on the end. Mount these blocks on the inside of the entrance end of the rails, with bumpers toward the Bridges, in the two holes provided. Move the Rear Bridge up against the stops to align the Bridge, and mount two idler gears (gears without screw heads around the circumference) to the hubs on the ends of the idler shaft. Loosen bolts on bearing assembly and pull down on the shaft to be able to slide gear on. Push gears up securely into track and tighten the bearing assembly bolts. Mount the Main Bridge stop (see Main Bridge drawing item #12) to the non-control side of the Main Bridge. Now, move the Main Bridge up against the stop on the Rear Bridge and align the distances between the Bridge side frames to be equal, this will ensure the Bridge is square with the rails and install the two idler gears (gears without screw heads around the circumference) on the idler shaft, just as you did on the Rear Bridge. Push Bridge up and down the track by hand to ensure proper alignment and tracking of gears. TIP: If gears are too tight against track, long idler shaft will vibrate. Use a forklift to lift the bridge up to the rails. Bolt the bridge in place once it is properly positioned. Bridge Assemblies

Igus Energy Tubes and Trays Discussion: There are two schools of thought on which is easiest...to pack all the hoses and cables into the energy tube, or to install the energy tube and then install the cables and hoses individually. The advantages to installing the hoses and cables separately are that the energy tube is much lighter to lift into place, and it s much easier to control the length of the hoses and cables as you place each one into the energy tube. The advantage to placing everything in the energy tube before you mount the tube is that it s all there and saves a little time. However, the energy tube is much heavier and may require the fork truck to put in place. In either case, the way that the Igus tubes mount is the same, and the order and manner for placing the hoses and cables in the tubes is the same. You may employ either of these methods or a combination of both when installing the Igus tubes. The longer of the two Igus tubes (48 links) is the one that connects to the Main Bridge. The shorter tube (45 links) goes to the Rear Bridge. Note, one side of the energy tube has hinged covers and the other side non-hinged. The hinged side goes to the outside of the radius as the tube forms a U shape going from the Transition Box to the Bridge Box, or the bottom of the tube as it lays in the Igus tube tray. Set the Igus tube in its proper tray. The end of the Igus tube with the shortest amount of hose hanging out connects to the junction box on the Bridge. Unroll the gore tube and mount the gore tube and tray to the transition box. Set Igus tube tray on brackets. Position the trays so they fit snugly against the wall brackets. The Main Bridge Igus tube houses the following lines: (4) Hydraulic hoses as noted on tags on hoses. (i.e. RB-Rear Bridge, MB-Main Bridge) Route these hoses with the 45 fittings to the Bridge end of the Igus tube. (1) ½ inch nylabraid Spot Free hose (Main Bridge only) (2) ½ inch Rail Heat hoses (see Rail heat plumbing drawing) (1) 8 pin Cable (Simply plug into proper connectors) (1) 6 pin Cable (1) 1 inch High Pressure hose (1) 1/2 inch blue Presoak hose (2 with Two-Step Presoak) (1) ½ inch gray Tire Cleaner hose (1) ¼ inch 4-hose multi-color Triple Foam hose (1) 1/4 inch gray Air Purge hose Igus Energy Tubes and Trays

Hanging the Wands After the Bridges are in place, the wands may be mounted. This is a two person operation, one to hold the wand in place, and one person to align and tighten the mounting brackets. The wands for the Main Bridge are wider than the front and rear wands, and can be further identified by their rocker panels. They should be mounted with the rocker panels facing toward the exit end of the bay. The rear wand can be distinguished from the front wand by the attached transmitter. The side wands for the Main Bridge have two (2) high pressure tubes that extend up into the two (2) slots under the Bridge. Holding the wands at the proper height, (wand covers just below where the Bridge covers extend) mount the wand brackets and tighten bolts. The front and rear wands have breakaway bracket mounts that mount to the front/rear trolleys to which the front and rear wands are mounted by a 9/16 inch bolt and ¼ inch aluminum shear bolt. Mount the front and rear wands at the same height as the side wands. Hanging the front wand. Wands are held in place by mounting clamps. Installing the Stop Station and Undercarriage Assembly Stop Sign After removing the stop sign from its packing, remove the lens. Consult the bay layout drawing to see where to place the sign in relation to the wall bracket. Remove the hanging bracket from the top of the sign and bolt it to the wall. Use a level to ensure the bracket is properly mounted. Now attach the sign to the bracket. Stop Pad and Undercarriage Assembly The bay layout drawing gives the proper dimensions for where to set the Stop Pad and Undercarriage Assembly. Once you have determined and marked where the Stop Pad will be placed, drill the four (4) bolt holes into the concrete. Lay the Stop Pad in the correct position, but do not bolt it to the bay floor. Drill holes in the wall at the appropriate location for the Undercarriage pipe. Hanging the Wands

Now that the Stop Pad position has been determined, the Undercarriage Assembly can be installed. The Undercarriage pipe in the bay is connected to the pump stand (in the Control Room) by a pipe which should run underneath the entrance-end side of the Stop Pad. Once the pipes are connected and in the correct positions, the Stop Pad may be bolted to the floor and wired to the stop sign. Using plastic wire-ties, secure the Undercarriage Assembly to the floor grate covering the mud pit. Installing the ESP (Electronic Scanning & Positioning) System Refer to Section 10 Drawings: ESP Sensor Wiring Schematic D11780/D11840, Typhoon Optic and Bay Sign Detail, Optic Receiver Assembly B-12472, Optic Transmitter Assembly B-12582, and Ultra Sonic Assembly B Secure Optic Transmitter, Optic Receiver, and Ultra Sonic Sensor Mounting Brackets B to the bay wall in the positions indicated by the Optic and Bay Sign Detail. Wire per the ESP Sensor Wiring Schematic. Set the backup optics as far as possible to the exit end of the bay without having the eyes blocked by the side wands or the ESP covers. Align Transmitter and Receiver in the horizontal and vertical positions until both the green and yellow indicator lights are illuminated. Reattach Covers B onto the Optic Receiver and Optic Transmitter, and Cover B onto the Ultra Sonic Assembly as shown on Drawings B-12472, B and B The Ultra Sonic Sensor is a teachable device. Place a vehicle, plywood or large piece of cardboard perpendicular to the floor eight inches (8 ) inside of the driver s side wand directly in front of the Ultra Sonic Sensor. Inside the Control Panel, locate the Ultra Sonic Sensor cable. Remove the cap from the gray wire and ground it for two (2) seconds to any #4 terminal. The Ultra Sonic Sensor will blink slowly then speed up until the red light is solid (taking less than 20 seconds), indicating the teaching process is complete. It will automatically set the window left and right in the bay that the vehicle must be located before the wash cycle will begin. Test the optics by slowly driving a vehicle into the wash bay until the Stop light illuminates. If the distance from the front of the vehicle to the front wand is too great, adjust the stop optics toward the exit end of the bay while maintaining proper alignment. Do not locate the stop and backup optics so close together that the customer finds it difficult to stop within the allotted area. Installing the Electronic Scanning & Positioning System

Installing the Hoses and Cables The Typhoon s hoses are labeled according to location and function. Before installing hoses, unpack and group them according to their location on the machine. Each hose is labeled by location and function. For example: PS2 MB 350 indicates the hose is a Presoak #2 hose for the Main Bridge, and is 350 long. Hoses separated by location and function. Before laying hoses in the Igus tube, the top cover of the tubing must be removed. This can be accomplished by inserting a screwdriver into the slots on the tube and lifting the cover. Lift the top cover of the Igus tube to lay hoses. Igus tube with top covers lifted. When laying the hoses in the Igus tube, a certain order should be followed. Hydraulic lines should go in first, followed by water lines. Be careful throughout the installation not to cross hoses in the Igus tube. Ensure that all hoses are straight and neatly stacked. Refer to the diagram on the following page for hose layout. Tie down all hoses using hose-ties on both ends of the Igus tube. The Main Bridge is the only Bridge that uses spot free rinse, tire cleaner, and Triple Foam. A 1 hose connects to the transition box through a 1-90 bent tube and connects to the 1 bulkhead fitting. The other end connects to the high pressure JIC fitting in the Main Bridge box. The bulkhead fitting can be moved to accept small discrepancies in the hose length, but must be securely tightened down after adjustment. There are four (4) hydraulic hoses that connect to the hydraulic motor and hydraulic cylinder. These connect to the bulkhead fittings at the transition box and the fittings in the Bridge box, which matches the labels on the hoses. Installing the Hoses and Cables

Installing the Hoses and Cables The diagram below shows the Igus tube and how the hoses and cables should be arranged. The next diagram is a layout of how the hoses should fit in the Main Bridge. Plumb hoses from the Bridges to the Igus tube, to the transition box. All hoses should be neat and bundled. Ensure that no hoses are against sharp edges. Installing the Hoses and Cables

Installing the High Pressure Water Lines The high pressure water lines should already be laid in the bridges and Igus tube. The components of the high pressure water lines were shipped with the Typhoon. Using the fittings from the kit, hook up the high pressure plumbing in the Bridge. The street elbows should face the passenger side of the bay. When hooking up the two high pressure hoses, crisscross them so they have room to move. Face elbows to the passenger side of the bay. High pressure hoses should be crossed. Hook up the hoses following the same procedure on the driver side of the bay, bearing in mind that no elbows are used on this side. Hook up the high pressure in the transition box. The top left fitting connects to the Rear Bridge. The bottom left fitting connects to the Front Bridge. The top right fitting connects to the Main Bridge. The transition box. Installing the Hydraulic Lines At this point, the hydraulic hoses should already be laid in the Bridges and Igus tube. Matching the numbers on the hose tags to the numbers on the transition box, hook the lines to the box. Be careful not to cross-thread the connectors. NOTE: In the case of an extended bay with hard pipe extensions for the hydraulic lines, blow air through the pipe to clear debris. Installing the High Pressure Water Lines and Hydraulic Lines

Installing the Spot Free Delivery System Consult manufacturer manuals for installation of water softener and reverse osmosis systems. Once the reverse osmosis unit and tank are placed in the Control Room, drill a hole in the top of the tank large enough for a piece of ¾ PVC conduit. The conduit should be 6 long and have a ¾ slip on the end. The end with the ¾ slip is the top end. Drill a 3/8 hole 16 down from the top of the pipe. Run the cables for the float switches through the conduit. The cable for the top float switch should come out of the 3/8 hole. The cable for the bottom float switch should come out of the bottom of the pipe. Anchor the top of the pipe to the tank. Float switch set-up. Spot Free tank. To plumb the spot free delivery system, go from the softener to the carbon filter, then into the inlet of the coarse filter on the reverse osmosis stand. From the reverse osmosis system, run the concentrate outlet to the drain, and the permeate outlet to the tank. Plumb the tank back to the delivery pump. NOTE: flush the carbon filter at low pressure to remove loose carbon. Water softener system. Carbon filter. Reverse osmosis stand. Installing the Spot-Free Delivery System

Installing the Rail Heat System (220V Electric) The Rail Heat package includes the following: Heat exchanger or a 50 gallon hot water tank Expansion tank Circulation pump 1 hose (red) 1/2 hose (red) Temperature/Pressure gauge Manifold mounted in transition box Thermostat (wired into the hot side of the circulation pump to break the circuit when the set temperature is exceeded) The purpose of the rail heat system is to keep the rails and high pressure wands from freezing. Mount the rail heat manifold (four inlets, four outlets, and a bypass valve) inside the transition box. The supply lines to this manifold (1 red hose) come from the heat exchanger (Hot water tank hot/ outlet side), and return to the expansion tank (horizontal port). The ports on the manifold supply the individual bridges and the rails with heat. Mount on the wall of the equipment room the rail heat expansion tank and circulation pump, generally in the vicinity of the heat exchanger/hot water tank for rail heat. THIS EXPANSION TANK SHOULD BE MOUNTED ABOVE THE RAIL ELEVATION. The cold or input side of the heat exchanger is supplied by the output side of the circulation pump. The circulation pump inlet is hosed to the bottom port of the expansion tank. When starting up the rail heat system, close three (3) valves on the manifold, forcing air from the open manifold. Repeat the process with the remaining three (3) valves on the manifold. When filling the heater with water, open the relief valve to let the air out. The rail heat pump is wired from the 220 power source. The hot leg is broken from the thermostat. Installing the Rail Heat System

Installing the Rail Heat System (cont d) The following diagrams illustrate the Rail Heat flow. Rail Heat flow, Front Bridge. Rail Heat flow, Main Bridge. Installing the Rail Heat System

Installing the Rail Heat System (cont d) Rail heat system layout, equipment room. Letters correspond with previous two diagrams. Equipment Room Installation Set the pump stand and hydraulic unit according to the equipment room drawing provided. Now that the equipment is set in the equipment room, review with the plumber and electrician their responsibilities. For a more detailed explanation please refer to the equipment placement drawing. Equipment Room Installation

Responsibilities of Plumber and Electrician Plumber Responsibilities Discussion: Some chemicals work better when applied with soft water. Decide whether or not the pump stand needs to be supplied with hot and/or cold soft water. 1. Provide a minimum 1 inch hot water line to Automatic stand, ported with 1 FNPT. 2. Provide a minimum 1 inch cold water line to Automatic stand, ported with 1 FNPT. 3. Provide a ¾ inch soft water line to the soap mix tank (SuperSat Systems). 4. Provide a ½ inch air line with a ball valve and a 300 psi regulator to the Pump Stand. 5. Mount the water softener manifold as per the instructions accompanying the softener. 6. Provide a ¾ inch supply soft water line to the Reverse Osmosis System. 7. Plumb the gas lines to the Presoak hot water tank and the Rail Heat hot water tank. 8. Install any backflow preventers as may be required by local codes. Electrician Responsibilities 1. Provide a 200 Amp 3 Phase 240 Volt electrical service and a 20 Amp Single Phase 220 Volt dedicated circuit to the main Control Panel. 2. Run a 3 Phase circuit between the Control Panel and the Hydraulic unit. (SEE ELECTRICAL DRAWING FOR DETAILS). 3. Run a two-wire control circuit from the Control Panel to the low-level cutoff switch on the Hydraulic power unit. 4. Run 220 Volt Single Phase to the Rail Heat Circulating pump with on/off switch and 110 volt hot through the thermostat. 5. At least two (2) separate conduits are required to the AutoCashier...one (1) power circuit to the circuit breaker panel, and one (1) for the control wires back to the control panel on the pump stand. 6. Run conduit, wiring, and receptacles to any peripheral equipment as ordered (including water softeners, Reverse Osmosis Systems, etc.). NOTE: The electrician s and plumber s work can be done while you are installing equipment in the bay. Once the pump stand is in place, you will need to make the final connections from the Oasis pump unit to the transition box. These include all high pressure hoses, chemical hoses, air hoses, and cables. You will need to connect the hydraulic lines from the transition box to the hydraulic unit. Notice that all of the hydraulic lines have tags with the connection location noted to match those on the transition box. Once all hydraulic lines are connected and the power pack cable has been connected to the control panel, you can fill the Hydraulic power pack with Dextron III automatic transmission fluid. Once all of the rail heat connections have been made you can begin to fill the rail heat system with antifreeze. Begin by opening the relief valve on the hot water tank and pouring the fluid into the top of the expansion tank. This will allow air to escape from the hot water tank to facilitate filling. Once Responsibilities of Plumber & Electrician

Responsibilities of Plumber and Electrician (cont d) the fluid begins to flow out of the relief valve, close the relief valve. The 50 gal. Hot water tank should be filled with 26 gallons of Anti-freeze 100% solution, and then add water to acquire the 50% mixture desired. Fill up the system into the sight glass on the expansion tank. Never run the circulation pump without fluid this can damage the pump. Run the circulation pump and open one loop at a time in the heat manifold to force the air out of the lines in the system. Repeat for each line until all of the air is released, being sure to keep the expansion tank filled to mid way of the sight glass. Set the temperature on the thermostat to 36. Customer Responsibilities gallons of antifreeze, to be diluted to a 50/50 mixture for the Rail Heat system gallons of Dextron III automatic transmission fluid, to fill the Hydraulic Power Pack. 3. Brine salt for the water softeners. 4. Antifreeze for any floor heat systems. 5. Proper chemicals for the system on site to start up the machine. Customer Responsibilities

Installing the Presoak System First, mount the back of the presoak manifold (in the bay) through the transition box to the foaming generator (in the control room) and connect the hoses. From inside the control room, connect the injector valves to the back of the manifold in the transition box. For Presoak 1, run ¾ hose directly from the injector manifold to the foaming generator. For Presoak 2, run hose from the injector valve to the cold inlet of the heater, then from the hot inlet to the foaming generator. See the diagram below for heater connections configuration. Presoak manifold. Presoak injector valves. Heater configuration. Presoak heater. Installing the Presoak System

Installing the Electrical Control Cables At this point, the electrical control cables are already in the bridges and Igus tube. Run the cables directly from the Igus tube through the transition box to the control stand. Tie cables to the bottom of the stand. Follow the diagram below to connect cables. Run cables from bridge through the box. Run cables to control room through box. Cables connected to control stand inside panel. Underneath view of cable junction. Installing the Electrical Control Cables

Adjusting the Proximity Switches A proximity switches can only be adjusted to its intended target. To adjust the switch, first loosen the mounting bolts on the bracket (A). Next, slide the switch (C) toward the target (B) until they touch. Now slide the switch away from the target until the signal light goes off. Return to the halfway point between the two distances. Retighten the bolts on the mounting block. Adjusting the Proximity Switches

Chemicals The Typhoon is designed to work with a wide variety of chemicals. Consult chemical supplier for instructions on setup and use. Remember to leave enough length in the triple foam hose to reach the air regulator. It also helps to color code the hoses to the triple foam. Red, yellow, and blue are for the triple foam; green is for air assist CHEMICAL INJECTORS OPTIONS INJECTOR SIZE SINGLE/DUAL SINGLE STEP PRESOAK 3.1 mm DUAL TWO STEP PRESOAK 3.1 mm SINGLE LOW PSI WAX 3.1 mm SINGLE TIRE CLEANER 1.5 mm DUAL RUST INHIBITOR 1.5 mm SINGLE HIGH PRESSURE WAX 1.5 mm SINGLE TRIPLE FOAM WAX 1.5 mm SINGLE (3 ea) Water System Startup 1. Complete the Water Softener and Reverse Osmosis installation before attempting to startup the pump stand. 2. Connect the main water Inlet valve(s) located on the low pressure manifold to the hot/cold water supply pipe on the wall with the 1 red hose and 1 hose barbs. 3. Turn on the water supply to the main water hot/cold inlet solenoid valves. 4. Be certain that the ball valve to the flooded tank is open. 5. Power up the Control Panel, 220VAC Single Phase. The tank should begin to fill. 6. Check the float switches in the tank for proper operation. The top float switch should stop water from filling when it is raised. 7. Remove the nozzles from the Spray Wand, Rocker Panel Spray Wands and Tire Cleaner Wands (if applicable). 8. Using Remote functions, with the overloads for high pressure pumps turned off (horizontal position), activate the High Pressure Rinse (see Remote Operation Menu on the inside of the Control Panel for Remote function procedure). Water should now be running in the bay from all spray wands. 9. With water running to the bay, check the high pressure pumps for rotation. Power the pumps with the overloads momentarily, while observing the rotation of the motors and pulleys. The proper rotation is marked on the CAT pump with an arrow. Next, start the HP pumps (turn on the overloads), and allow to run for 20 minutes to flush debris from the system. 10. Now turn on the Remote functions for Undercarriage and Rocker Panel Sprayers and allow these to flush for 20 minutes each. 11. Place all nozzles in the wands and repeat Step 10 long enough to adjust the pressure on the HP pumps to approximately 1000 psi on the HP gauges. High pressure is adjusted with the adjusting bolt on the top of the regulator, on the low pressure manifold, at the bottom of the pump stand. Chemicals / Water System Startup

Hydraulic System Startup 1. All hydraulic lines and cables must be connected and tight, and the tank must be full of fluid before attempting to start-up the hydraulics. 2. Manually check the Hydraulic Pump for proper direction of rotation, utilizing the motor starter in the control panel. 3. Using the Remote Control Function move the hydraulic motors on the Main bridge, and the Rear bridge, and check for the proper direction of rotation. Rear bridge extend/home, Main bridge extend/home. If a single motor is rotating in the wrong direction, it can be reversed by switching the two hoses that supply fluid to it. Usually it is easier to switch them where they connect at the transition box. 4. Install the home targets for the Main and rear bridges. The thinner target is for the rear bridge. There are three holes for the target, start with the target mounted in the center hole. 5. Move the bridges into the home positions, and adjust the home Proximity Switches. Adjust the home position proximity switch so it will sense the home target. Adjust the proximity sensor 3/8 inch from the target. (NOTE: PROXIMITY SENSORS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TOUCH TARGETS. DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.) 6. Once the direction of the motor rotation is established, you can mount the gears with the targets (screws around the circumference of the gear), to the motor hub. Be sure to turn off the Hydraulic Overload before attempting to mount the gears. Mount the gears with the target screws towards the inside of the bay. The targets on these gears are sensed by the Count up proximity switch mounted to the bridge side frame. This proximity switch needs to be adjusted to the same distance from the targets as the home prox. Remove the cover on the motor to check rotation. The motor should rotate in the direction of the arrow. 7. Move bridge slightly off of home position toward the entrance end so that the home position prox just goes off. Move the bridge back until the light on the proximity switch just comes back on again. Mark a spot on the rail corresponding to the edge of the bridge side frame plate. 8. For the Main Bridge adjust the Drive Gear rotationally so that the Count Up proximity sensor light will come on about 5/8 inch to 1-5/8 inches away from where the home target comes on. Using the marks mentioned in step 7. This is to ensure that, at the home position, both Hydraulic System Startup

proximity sensors (Count Up/Home) are not on at the same time. This may take several attempts to get this setting correct. After making adjustments, tighten nuts on the gear hub assembly. 9. The Rear Bridge is timed in the same way, except the distance between the two (2) switches coming on should be between 1-5/8 inch and 3 inches. 10. Be certain that the bay is clear of equipment and personnel, with the high pressure pump overloads turned off, turn on the hydraulic overload switch, and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Press a vend button on the front of the Control Panel and press the Test button. Let the machine dry run to purge all the air from the hydraulic system. Observe the position of the bridges as they come to the end of the rails and check to see that the bridges aren t running into one another. Bay Equipment Inspection 1. Check Bridges for proper alignment 2. Check for proper clearance of all Gears and Rollers. 3. Grease all Vee-Rollers, Bearings, and Rails. 4. Check all Floor Pad Switches while someone watches the proper Inputs on the Processor Input Card. 5. Make sure the proper Inputs come on when the Vend Buttons on the Money Acceptor are activated. 6. Place all Nozzles into their proper position. 7. Make sure the Optics operate properly. Adjust Gain on Optics to the proper settings. Chemical System Startup 1. A ¾ inch blue hose should be connected between the hose barb on the chemical tree and the hose barb on the Presoak foam generator, for each corresponding Pre-Soak. 2. The Gray ½ inch hose from the Main bridge should be connected to the hose barb on the chemical tree, next to the Valve marked Tire Cleaner. 3. When hooking up the Triple foam lines it s a good idea for the colors on the hoses to correspond to the color of chemicals, and remain consistent out at the Main bridge as well. The green hose will connect to the Air assist for the Triple Foam, and should be left approximately 3 feet longer than the other three hoses. Connect the red, yellow, and blue hoses to the three hose barbs next to the Triple Foam solenoid valve. Connect the green hose to the Air assist hose barb behind the Triple foam air regulator. 4. Connect the Gray ¼ inch hose to the Air Purge solenoid valve hose barb. Start Washing Cars!!! While washing cars check and adjust wand distances from the car. Check all chemical levels in the wash bay. Chemical System Startup

System Specifications and Operational Data BOILER Typical hot water temperature setting on the hot water tank thermostat is 120 degrees. Behind the left hand panel on the boiler is 2 additional thermostats, one with a red reset button and one without. The thermostat without the reset should always be set at a temperature 40 degrees higher (160 degrees) than the tank thermostat. The reset thermostat should be set 10 degrees higher (170 degrees). The circulation pump should run for a short period of time even after the boiler flame has shut down. For any other problems or questions refer to the boiler manual. SOFTENERS The softeners will regenerate on water used only. They will regenerate during the early hours of the morning and will do so one at a time if necessary. Salt level should be no more than half-way in the brine tank at all times. Unit should be tested for hardness at least 2 times a week. Any problems or signs of hard water should be addressed immediately. RAIL HEAT THERMOSTAT This thermostat should be set at 36 degrees. his measures outside air temperature. FLOOR HEAT THERMOSTAT This thermostat should be set a 40 degrees. This measures the temperature of the concrete floor. WEEP THERMOSTAT This thermostat should be set at 35 degrees. This measures the temperature of the ambient air inside the bay. AIR COMPRESSOR The compressor should have 120 PSI at all times. The regulator to the automatic pump stand should be set at 100 PSI. BILL CHANGERS The bill changers are set for one's, five's and ten's with the bill to be inserted one direction. This is resettable by following the instructions on the side of the bill transport. It s only a matter of moving switches in different positions. CASHIERS AND POS UNIT These units come with complete, easy to understand, manuals. RO UNIT The incoming water temperature should be approximately 77 degrees. This can be adjusted by the temperature mixing valve on the unit. The water quality should be checked on the incoming side for Hardness, Iron, and Chlorine. And on the outgoing side for Total Dissolved Solids parts per million. On the flow meters the product (Permeate) water should be flowing approximately twice the amount as the reject (Concentrate) water. The flow should be noted after the unit is first operational.
