2 1. Introduction Congratulations! With your new Sedox SPD Device you can now easily reprogram your car in a few minutes. Sedox SPD Device is the most extensive tool for DIY tuning of cars through the diagnostics connector. It can transfer a new program in just a few minutes. SPD can be connected to your PC, and through the included software you can download the tuning program that suits your needs the best. With SPD you can, without any special know-how reprogram and tune your car. SPD can also read, and erase DTC error codes in your car. Five simple steps to tune you car with Sedox SPD: 1 Install the included software on Your computer and select your car and the protocol for it on the SPD. 2 Connect the SPD to your car and read the original software. 3 Upload the original software on our website. 4 When you get a message that the tuning program is done you can download your new software. 5 Transfer the tuning software to your car. 2

3 WARNING! Always return the car to its original state before every service. Never disconnect the cable while the SPD is reprogramming the car. Always make sure that the ignition is turned correctly on, and that the car is in neutral, and that the parking brake is on. The cooling fan can start during the programming. Never use any buttons, turn the steering wheel or open/close any doors during the programming. Placement of the diagnostics connector: SPD does it s communication through the diagnostics connector. Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda Under the steering wheel over the pedals. Reading from ECU, ca 20 minutes. Write to ECU, ca 10 minutes. Ford, Mercedes Under the steering wheel over the pedals. Reading from ECU, ca 5 minutes. Write to ECU, ca 5 minutes. Renault Tunnel cover. You need to remove a cover. Reading from ECU, ca 10 minutes. Write to ECU, ca 5 minutes. BMW Under the steering wheel to the left. Open a small lid. Reading from ECU, 5-20 minutes. Write to ECU, ca 5 minutes. 3

4 2. Installation of the Sedox SPD Console Do not connect the SPD to your computer. 1. Go to our website: 2. Click on the Products button on the top menu an then on Sedox SPD. 3. Scroll down, click the download SPD Console button. Save the archive on your computer and unpack it. Double click on SPDConsole.exe to run it. 4. You should now get a security warning. Click Run. 5. The installation program will now start. Click Next. 6. Click Install, Choose U.S. English and click OK then click Next. 7. Make sure that the SPD-unit is disconnected from the computer and click Next, and Next one more time. 8. You will get a box asking about driver installation. Click Continue anyway. After driver installation click Finish. 9. The installation of SPD software is now complete. You can now connect the SPD unit to the computer. 10. If you get a message installation of new hardware, click Next. System will then install drivers. Click Continue anyway. Click Finish. 11. The driver installation is now complete. 12. Select Your car and engine on the SPD unit to choose the protocol. 4

5 3. Read the original software 1. Locate the diagnostic connector in your car. 2. Screw on the OBDII cable to the SPD, and connect it to the diagnostics connector in the car. 3. Press arrow down until Read fi le from ECU is highlighted, and press Y. 4. You will now be asked to turn on the ignition. Check that the car is in neutral (P on automatic transmission) and turn on the ignition to the position right before the car starts. 5. To make sure that the battery does not run out of power, You should turn off all power consumers. These may include: radio, AC, lights, fan, seat and window heating. It your car has a built in phone you should turn off this also! 6. Make sure that the lights in your dashboard lights up, and that the ignition is on, and press Y when you are ready. 7. The SPD will now read your car. 8. Reading complete!!!... The SPD is now fi nished with reading your car. You may turn off the ignition and unplug the SPD. CARS WITH START-/STOP BUTTON If you have a Start-/Stop button you turn on the ignition by pressing and holding this without touching the pedals until the lights in the dashboard lights up. On some models the lights will not light up until you release the button. CARS WITH PUSH-KEY If your car has a push-key you turn in the ignition by pressing and holding this without touching the pedals for about 5 seconds. The lights in the dashboard should light up. 5

6 4. Transfer the original program to Sedox Performance 1. Connect the SPD to your computer with the USB-cable. 2. Start the Sedox SPD Console software. 3. Click the Link -button to start the communication between the computer and the SPD. 4. Click the Read ORI -button to read the original software. Save this somewhere you can fi nd it again. You can name this fi le with your license-plate number. 5. Go to les.com/. Log in with your username and password (if you are not already registered, please register). 6. Click Upload in the menu on the top. Please follow the procedure 7. Click Upload to send the fi le to Sedox Performance. 8. Your original software has now been sent to Sedox Performance. You will receive an with Tuning software soon. 5. Download the new software 1. Before you continue, make sure that you have received the with your new software attached. 2. Save this fi le somewhere where you can fi nd again. 3. Start the Sedox SPD Console software and click Upload MOD. 4. Browse to the place you saved the fi le in step 2, and choose that one. When you click Open the software will start sending the fi le to the SPD Unit. 5. When SPD Console is fi nished, you will get a message Writing was completed successfully. 6. Click Ok. Now you can take the SPD with you to your car and tune it. 6

7 6. Transfer the original or tuning software to the car 1. Connect the SPD Unit to the diagnostics connector in the car. 2. Choose Write to ECU by using the up and down arrow. Press Y when you are ready. 3. Choose what fi le You would like to write to the car, and press Y. 4. Confi rm that You have chosen the correct fi le by pressing Y. Press N to cancel. 5. SPD will now verify the fi le. 6. You will now be asked to turn on the ignition. Check that the car is in neutral (P on automatic transmission) and turn on the ignition to the position right before the car starts. 7. To make sure that the battery does not run out of power, you should turn off all power consumers. These may include: radio, AC, lights, fan, seat and window heating. It your car has a built in phone You should turn off this also! NOTE: If You have a 12V battery charger, You can connect it to the car to stabilise the power. 8. Make sure that the lights in Your dashboard lights up, and that the ignition is on, and press Y when You are ready. 9. The SPD will now program your car. 10. WARNING: Never interrupt the programming sequence! 11. When the programming is complete the SPD will ask you to turn off the ignition. Do this and press Y. 12. You will now be asked to turn the ignition on again. When You are ready press Y. 13. Your car is now tuned. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the SPD unit. 7
